Meet Gracie Duggar

"Deciding on her name was a pretty easy thing."
-John Duggar

  1. I'm very happy for them. I like that there were some non-swaddled pictures too - those sweet little hands and feet!

  9. Such a lovely baby, but then I love all babies. Abbie & John David look in seventh heaven to be parents. I hope they are all settling in well & baby Grace is getting into a nice little routine for her mum & dad. So nice to see these special pictures of their new daughter, thank you for posting them in a way we can all see them. So many things can’t be accessed in the UK so it’s nice this blog is here to help the fans over the Atlantic.

    1. I’ve seen a few people say she looks like Josie, but I really don’t see a resemblance there. She looks a lot like her mom to me.

    2. I don't think she looks particularly Duggar at all at this point.

    3. 1:28, that’s what I was thinking. I think she’ll end up looking like Abbies side of the family.

    4. The baby looks nothing like Josie.

  16. Will there be a birth special? I'm curious about how long Abbie's labor was, etc, since it was her first baby. Very happy for Abbie and John David as they start their family.

  19. I'm disappointed that even Abbie thought it necessary to put a giant bow on her newborn's head. Think of the baby's comfort! Would you want a giant bow wrapped around your head?

    1. They all are obsessed with the big head bows!

    2. Most everyone puts a bow on their daughters head now- that or a hat! No BIGGIE!

    3. That looks like a hat on her head, not a headband. Anyway, the fabric looks identical to the standard issue newborn caps put on by the nurses in the hospital. Maybe their hospital does the ones with bows for baby girls? As to the baby's comfort, putting that soft knit fabric on her head is no different from putting any other soft knit hat on her head, which everyone puts on newborns' heads, especially in cold weather.

    4. Would you want a cozy knit fabric wrapped around your head in the winter if you were a newborn?

    5. Anon 9.49. You do realise that the giant bow isn’t just a headband, it’s on a hat. There won’t be any discomfort to the baby as there is no tight headband. It’s the hat that is on the baby’s head & the bow is stitched on the front.

    6. You know, it probably feels like a nice earwarmer that people where in winter around her head. She doesn't have much hair, so it may be giving her a little more warmth. It doesn't look too tight either. It's fine.

    7. This baby is just fine, happily sleeping away with a small bow that she doesn’t seem concerned by at all. There’s a lot more to be concerned about in this world then a baby wearing a bow. And as new parents, John and Abbie deserve love and support not critical comments from strangers over silly little things that are causing no harm.

If Gracie found it uncomfortable, she’d have made that clear with crying. And I’m sure Abbie, being a good mom, would have taken it off. But there’s no tears, just a little, adorable baby snoozing away.

    8. While even I think this particular bow is way big, I don't understand how a bow on a hat disappoints you. Please explain.

      Delete
    9. Bows are very girly, and also bald babies look great in bows before they got any hair.

      Delete
    10. Newborns often need a cap to maintain body temperature it's a hat not a headband ...not binding. Each to their own.

      Delete
    11. As a nurse who works with newborns, we make those hats. They don’t come that way. We literally cut a second hat to make the bow. Those hats are extremely stretchy and fit premies all the way up to larger newborns. Babies lose a lot of heat through their heads, and a hat is an excellent way to help them stay warm! Also, if the band of a hat isn’t too tight as to make the baby uncomfortable, why would the band of a bow be uncomfortable? They’re cute, and if the parents like them, no one else should care. I promise they’re not hurting the baby.

    12. 9:06, I didn't realize the nurses made them! Cute idea. I've seen some on etsy.

    13. I wear caps on winter nights because I sleep next to an outer wall. Why wouldn't a newborn baby like a cap???
