Abbie Duggar
25 weeks pregnant
Abbie Duggar is 25 weeks along in her pregnancy. She and John-David are
expecting their little girl in January 2020. What a great way to start
the new year! John and Abbie's daughter will join the ever-expanding Duggar family, including seven female
cousins--Mackynzie Duggar (10), Meredith Duggar (4), Felicity Vuolo (1),
Ivy Seewald (8 months in January), and three due to arrive in November--and nine male cousins.

Well, going by Abbie's picture, I'd say that 90% of all women are at least 25 weeks pregnant. I can stand like that after a good dinner!
ReplyDeleteI can even without having a good dinner :-)
DeleteSeriously! I am 19 weeks and bigger than she is. But all women show differently, I guess.
DeleteOverweight and pregnant are two different things! Obesity is an epidemic in USA, indeed.
DeleteHa ha ha! So true.
Delete😳 You and I know a very a different population of women.
DeleteAbbie is nowhere near "obese" even if she weren't pregnant. Having that shape is not obese. A lot of women are that shape normally.
Delete6:22, anyone who is not pregnant but is that size is definitely over weight, though I do agree not “obese”
DeleteMost women who are not even overweight can pooch their stomachs out like that at will, especially after a big meal.
Delete@9:11 Over what weight? What artificial weight chart do you believe? The ones made up by the insurance companies? If so, then by the charts 70 years ago, we're ALL overweight now. All of us. Weight is not what's ultimately important. Even people of "normal" weight keel over. People die in the middle of marathons, in the middle of football practice, and at the gym. BMI is not all that it's cracked up to be. Someone can be "overweight" but way healthier overall than the someone who goes to the gym all the time. I'm just tired of people being body-shape shamed, I guess. You can't judge a book by putting it on a scale. My doc says some "padding" is a good thing as you age - it's your reserve for when you get sick. A BMI in the upper 20's is of no concern to him if everything else is ticking along smoothly.
Delete8:49 If you're comfortable with your weight, that's fine. However, there's no getting around the fact that the extra weight one carries into their golden years is easily added onto without much trying. I learned this the hard way. I feel so much better now that my BMI is within a healthy range. I know what it's like to be overweight and it never felt good to me. Daily exercise and portion control have made all the difference in my situation. Sure, there are no guarantees for anybody, but I don't think that lowering your risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and a host of other ailments by losing weight is a bad thing.
DeleteNot Abbie. I thought she wouldn't do the "stomach clutching" thingy. Guess I was wrong.
ReplyDeleteShe's posing for a picture to highlight her baby bump. Of course she's going to cradle her stomach. People need to really get over this.
DeleteIf she didn't do it you wouldn't see the bump, since she is wearing something loose.
DeleteMe either, but I guess she wants to be just like everyone else.
DeleteUuuuggggg.....
DeleteWhat is wrong with that??
Is it some evil or shameless pose?
I don’t understand why people are sooo against it that they can’t stand seeing someone doing it that they have to repeatedly say something.
It's a normal thing that all pregnant women do, calm down.
DeleteThey are happy about their baby, that's it.
Get over it
DeleteWhy not "do" the "stomach clutching thingy"? It's precious & Abbie is an excpectant first time mother!❤
DeleteWhy are so many of you obnoxious about this?? She is not “clutching” her stomach, get over your dramatics🙄🙄
DeleteClearly you arent a mother, its a very common motherly thing to do to want to rub or hold your stomach when you are pregnant, whether in a photo or otherwise.
DeleteThere's nothing wrong with what she's doing for any photo. She's not doing anything wrong, it's just personal taste if you would want to pose like that. Not to mention the fact it's a photo to show what she currently looks like.
DeleteI did it post pregnancy hahaha! Was proud of losing the weight when I binged during 🤪
DeleteI think it is in a way "evil and shameless." They're not supposed to accentuate any part of their body due to modesty, but the minute they get pregnant, it's stomach clutching and all eyes on my abdomen please!!
DeleteDoesn't look ladylike to clutch your stomach.
Delete@10:01 What exactly would you call what her right hand is doing then? Looks like clutching, cradling, holding, etc.
DeleteI've been pregnant and I never posed like that, out of need or to show my size on purpose for a photo. I really didn't care to save those kinds of pictures for posterity. Your body's own muscles should hold up that "bump" and if they don't, there's help in the form of supportive undergarments. You don't have to go around in public holding yourself up with your hands.
What else would you suggest doing when you are taking a maternity photo and want to show your baby bump?? And to attract attention to this bump? I don't understand your frustration!
DeleteSure, take those pictures. Put them in your private family album. DON'T put them on the Internet. That's a "Look at meeeee!" thing.
Delete5:01 there is nothing sexual about a pregnant woman touch or pressing her clothes down to show their bump. For you to say it is evil and shameless is out of line! Modesty guidelines are about not stirring up emotions or attracting the attention of the opposite sex. It is important to look at someone’s intent if you are going to label them “evil and shameless”.
Delete12:22, they are a public family with a fan base, of course they are going to post pictures. And by your logic, they shouldn’t ever post any pictures.
DeleteIf she didnt hold her stomach like that, you probably wouldn't see the bump as she is still small
DeleteI don't like the stomach clutching pose and no, I won't "get over it." I have a right to express my opinion respectfully, as do others who agree with me.
DeleteBy your logic then 11:16 if they're a "public" family, then any and all comments about them from the public are OK.
DeleteSo happy for y'all
ReplyDeleteso excited for you guys!!! cannot wait to see the little baby girl!
ReplyDeleteLooking good and NOT wearing a skin tight top. Thank you Abbie.
ReplyDeleteI love your top..I wish everyone in the world pregnant would take after you.
Delete...because she’s wearing a pretty tight fitting dress.
Delete??? Why do you care what someone else chooses to wear. All of the Duggar girls have looked lovely throughout their pregnancies.
DeleteYou shouldn’t judge people how they wear 🙂
DeleteI don't know why people are making such a big fuss about her baby bump Every Woman carries their pregnancy differently some carry so high some carry so low some know they're pregnant but they don't show I'm not sure why everybody is so fixated on why she's clenched in her tummy whatever does weather at makes you feel good why not if it feels good go do it who cares about everybody else's opinion text you at the end of the day. Them
DeleteThis is anon 7:52pm - I was being sarcastic...I like the way she’s dressed. I think it’s sad that they are judged for how or what they wear, skirts or pants...they are seem modest to me
DeleteLooking good & healthy @6months! Abbie's last trimester will be busy with holidays & new cousin's births! Blessed wishes for the Duggar families! ❤
ReplyDeleteTime 2:08PM Wed 10/2/19
ReplyDeleteCongrats Abbie & John David Duggar.
omg she's so tiny! like alyssa bates webster! she is so cute.
ReplyDelete(i'm not trying to be mean or insulting) just imagine, josie was born when michelle was as far along as abbie is now
I remember and look at Josie now, so adorable and she'll be 10 in December!
Deletecan you please post a picture of Anna & Kendra's bump? As well as an update on Jessa's little girl and how Joy Anna is doing? Thanks for sharing a picture of Abbie.
ReplyDeleteAbbie looks so beautiful and I hope her baby girl gets gorgeous churls like her Mommy's.
ReplyDeleteAbbie, you don't have to worry, that baby's not going to escape!
ReplyDeleteMackynzie isn’t technically 10 yet 😉
ReplyDeleteSuper close though...5 more days!!!
DeleteThey were talking about what the ages would be when this little one came along....
DeleteJust my opinion, but I think the clutching of the bump in a "bump" picture is what it is for; however, it does get old when they do it also in every regular picture. Hope that made sense. BTW, Abbie is adorable. It is always so interesting to see what someone's "first" baby looks like. Best of wishes to John and Abbie.
ReplyDeleteI would not have appreciated it if someone held their bump in my wedding pictures or in any pictures not focused on the pregnancy.
Delete3:46, you sound very self absorbed, someone holding their bump in a picture would not detract from you in any way.
Delete9:31 these days you can choose to crop out the offending subject in the picture or use photo shop to take their hands off their belly. They the bride and grooms pictures of their special day and therefore can direct the posing of others 😀
DeleteSo excited for John and Abbi! It would be so cute if her little girl has curly hair like Abbi, which seems pretty likely.
ReplyDeleteVery likely, the Duggar’s have that gene as well.
DeleteI need to do a punnet square review 🤣, all four of my grandparents, both parents and 2 siblings all have the curly gene as dominant, I’m the only one that is straight, haha.
She might even have more curls than Spurgeon!
DeleteCongratulations to Abbie
ReplyDeleteWhy do pregnant women try to emphasize their “bump” so much in pictures? It’s not just the Duggar family, it’s almost every post on social media of a pregnant woman, whether it’s a famous actress or or a woman I went to school with. I understand that it can help to cradle the baby when standing for a while, but when someone is slender and 4 months pregnant, why do they try so hard to pull their shirt so tightly to show that they gained 5 pounds in their middle (Carlin comes to mind).
ReplyDeleteI’ve seen pictures of my mom and her friends pregnant in the 80s and 90s, none of them did this.
8:39 PM: I think it's a new fad. People are so self-conscious about possibly being mistaken as fat, that they want to signal that their stomach "pooch" is NOT fat...it's a pregnancy.
Delete8:39. I’m one of those Mom’s from the 90’s. We NEVER pulled our tops as tight as possible and did the belly grab. I have lots of family pictures throughout pregnancies as we were growing our family and I still “posed” normal. And everyone can tell another member was on the way.( Of course we never heard of pregnancy photo shoots or baby moons either). If we rested our hands on our bellies it was always placed on top. I’m not into modesty standards per se but these pictures are not tasteful.
DeleteI remember the awful maternity tents I had to wear during my pregnancies. And, there was a time that pregnancy was not even allowed to be said on tv. All that to say, Abbie never expected to get married and might be "over the moon" at being pregnant. Enjoy this time, Abby; your little girl will be here before you know it. And, don't worry about others' comments.
DeleteI never did when I had my son 23 years ago. Nor did other woman back then.
DeleteI don't get it --- what else should them emphasize during maternity photoshoots?? Their hair?? Like, obviously, a pregnant woman takes pictures to remember her pregnant days... of course she is going to emphasize her bump!!
DeleteUh I was born in 94 and my mom has a picture posing pregnant with me like this. As do all of my friends' moms. This isn't a new thing.
DeleteAnon 8.21. I also had my son 23 years ago & I was always rubbing & holding my bump from very early on & this was just in general. In pictures I have from that time there are many where I am standing with my hand on my bump. I think it just depends on you as a person. I just felt this enormous feeling of protection & it manifested itself in me continually holding my bump. I don’t see anything wrong with it & I know the ladies I see in clinics all hold their bumps constantly too. You see them walking in with their hand on their tummy & they sit with their hand on their tummy too, there are more mums do this than don’t in my experience.
Delete"Awful maternity tents" were extremely comfortable on an expanding body. That's why they were invented - they're the most practical, comfy, and least confining.
DeleteI'm sure many many mommas to be did this back in the 70s, 80, 90s.. but there was no social media back then. Pics like that were private
Delete8:49, and some women (such as myself) feel more comfortable in tighter clothing. For me that’s what is most practical and comfortable. People are entitled to having different opinions.
DeleteCongratulations Abbie & John David. Maybe she will have the baby on John's birthday witch is January 12. Or she can have it on January 8.
ReplyDeleteOr she can have it on January 8, which is Elvis Presley birthday
DeleteI am so happy for u both.Congrats Abbie and John-David can't wait to see your bundle of Joy next year.
ReplyDeleteShe looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteCongrats and God Bless this growing family! Another Duggar in the world is a good thing!!
ReplyDeleteShe looks great! Congratulations to them (again lol)! Happy for them!
ReplyDeleteAbbie please share your curly hair routine, so beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteAbbie said before her hair is natural curly so she never uses and curling iron.
DeleteI think they have previously posted the products she uses.
DeleteAbbie and John are my favorite couple!! I bet they are going to make really good parents.
ReplyDeleteAbbie looks so pretty. She has such a nice smile. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteJoan,Marion and Marilyn
The real story here is how MedicCorps isn't asking for donations any more and have removed the charity pending status message from their website. Looks like LLC's really aren't allowed to be charities after all. Glad that got straightened out. If it is.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that they are an LLC is not why they did not receive approval....they took donations before they were approved.
DeleteI wonder if the cradling thing is to show the bump easier. No one in my family did it as I recall. But when we were told someone was expecting, no one felt compelled to compare bumps or what not. We just loved and supported the parents unlike people of today who compare, judge or make nasty comments about how big or unnoticeable a baby belly is.
ReplyDeleteI wish Duggars announced names in advance like Amy and the Bates'. It would be so nice to refer to the baby by its name, not just the baby.
ReplyDeleteI also wonder if Kendra, Lauren and Anna checked in with each other for the names, as obviously they would not want to have 3 little Duggar girls born in the same month to be called the same name. I would suggest Gabrielle for Kendra (to go with "G" theme after Garrett), Mila for Lauren (comes from Milagro, miracle in Spanish) and Melissa for Anna.
Maybe they have not decided on a name yet
DeleteIn some cultures it is totally unheard of to name the baby before it is born, as it is a superstition that it will bring bad luck to the pregnancy and the baby. I personally like having some mystery around the birth and having to wait. Plus, the parents could change their minds at the last minute !! :D
DeleteNot every parent decides on a name early on. No one should plan their lives around pleasing other people, even the Duggars when it comes to deciding what to name their kids and when to announce it.
DeleteWhy do strangers try to suggest names for others.....they’ll figure it out.
DeleteAll Bates girls announce their kids names way before they are born. Now Carlin announced her baby's name at 20 weeks pregnant. I think it's good (if they are 100% sure in the name) because they call the baby by its name when it's moving or just address it in general. It's already a human, it should have a name.
DeleteI like Mila. I think it would be a good idea about Milagros, because it means "miracle" in Spanish. Milania too.
DeleteIf she is 25 weeks, then the baby is due in mid January, just for John-David's birthday!! Maybe they can name the baby Jana, like her aunt. Or maybe just go with Grace, Abbie's middle name, it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteUse of the same names, happens in large families. It happened in my dad's family anyway. He was one of 13. So I have a brother and a few cousins with the same 1st name. Then I have a few cousins named after our grandparents, aunts uncles, of the same name. And they go by nicknames. Then a few of his siblings went on to have large families and a few of their children have the same names. So yeah it happens.
DeleteDaphne, Dandelion, Dudley, or Dexter Duggar all have a nice ring to them.
DeleteDon’t for get they have Abbie’s family names to consider......
Delete5:46 lol, "Dudley Duggar"??
DeleteAnonymous 5:46: Dandelion or Dudley Duggar....um no!
DeleteI personally love Abbie! She's good for John David. She looks adorable and modest. Congratulations John and Abbie!! Your one of my favorite couples from the Duggar family. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI m so happy for Abbie. She looks great. Nice picture.
ReplyDeleteAbbie looks identical to my best friend Beth. My friend Beth has 3 kids and all of them got the beautiful curly hair. I hope Abbies little girl gets the curly hair too.
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting! Abbie said she gave up on an idea of even getting married, and then John David came along, so not only she is married to a pilot with own plane, she is now expecting a baby!! I'm so happy for her!
ReplyDeleteWait - she had given up on the idea of getting married at her (previous) age???!! What did she think she was - an old maid in her early 20's?
DeleteI don't think she meant she had "given up" on marriage. I got the impression that since she didn't consider every single man she met a prospective husband, the relationship with John was something that came as a surprise to her
DeleteDear Abbie, U do whatever U want, U have a good head on your shoulders, so I have faith in U. If U want to hold your bump go for it!!!! I am very happy for U, and I love U 3!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for them! Abbie looks amazing! Just another short 15 weeks and they'll meet their little girl!!
ReplyDelete8th Duggar girl cousin!! And she will be 6th Duggar Duggar cousin (who carry Duggar last name). Only 2 girl cousins are non-Duggar last name (Jessa's and Jinger's). In general so far out of 17 Duggar grandkids, 10 have Duggar last name. Duggar daughters mostly have been having sons.
ReplyDeleteYay Im so excited for Abby and John! He has never looked happier! Abby you look stunning!
ReplyDeleteHow about the name: Grace Michelle, Grace Joy, Jetta Grace
