John and Abbie in Branson

This weekend, John and Abbie took a short trip to Branson, Missouri. They especially enjoyed seeing the story of the biblical character Samson brought to life at Sight and Sound Theatres. The Duggars have been to Sight and Sound multiple times over the year. Do you recall watching them as part of the cast of Noah on 18 Kids and Counting "Duggars On Stage" back in 2009?

  3. I live near Sight and Sound in Lancaster, PA. Always an amazing production; so worth the money and trip there. Plus the sugared almonds sold in the lobby are delicious!

    1. I'm not sure this is a sign that Abbie isn't going to work enough to keep her nurse's license active. We'll see.

    2. How does them going to sight and sound make you think she’s not going to start working again? She transferred her nursing license so I’m guessing she’ll start working again soon.

  5. they are a cute couple but I could do without all the PDA pictures. Just show pictures of where you are instead of always being right on top of each other

    1. I was raised in a family where there were no public displays of affection, and I was scolded if I even held a boyfriend's hand in front of family members. We were told to keep our hands at our sides. I ended up marrying my husband who fit into my family well...he had no PDA's at all, and was appreciated by my family for being a true gentleman. But now that I'm 60, and we've been married for 31 years, I've changed and I wouldn't mind some PDA. My husband still will not walk holding hands, no arm across my shoulder, no hug if I'm cold while we're in public. But I would like that!!! Our kids display affection appropriately, and tastefully, and I'm happy for them. And I think my mother, who is 82, has changed too and is finally coming around and accepting that some PDA is healthy, which is nice. As long as it's not over-the-top displays, and I would say the above picture of John and Abbie is in good taste, and very beautiful. The Duggar family has had times where I didn't think PDA was appropriate, such as the time when all the couples were in the Duggar living room, and every couple was kissing away! To me, that's just silly.

    2. Are you for real?

    3. Jealous? I think it's cute all new couples go through this stage. They will most likely have kids soon and then well they won't have the chance, their hands will be full.

    4. I only see one picture throughout this article.

    5. ??? I don't think it's a very good picture of them as the camera is too close, but I don't see the PDA you're complaining about.

  8. I saw Exodus from Sight and Sound in Branson in 2016. Wow...one of the best experiences I've ever had! An absolutely fabulous production; I still think about it! Hard to experience the wonder of a child when you are an adult but man, that show made me feel like a kid again.

So happy those two found each other. All the sweeter after having waited for a bit (I married at 29 so can understand).

  9. I remember that episode! Jim Bob and Michelle always enriched their children’s education in the most unique and memorable ways! God’s blessings to John and Abbie and to ALL of the Duggar family! ❤️

  13. Does John have a job? I've seen lots of posts of honeymoons and trips, but a working man can't be going away this much and have a job at the same time. Don't the men in this family work for a living?

    1. He's a reality TV star. Being filmed is a job.

    2. They went to Branson over the weekend. Weekend trips don't prevent you from having a work week. Working people can and do take longer trips if they've saved enough vacation hours and money for travel.

John David has more flexible hours since he works in the family business as a pilot. Also, Counting On is a job. Many of the trips they take, including the second honeymoon, are filmed and paid for by TLC.

    3. This sounded like a weekend getaway. However, John does work at the family business which appears to have very flexible hours for all of them.

    4. He just formed 2 flying medical businesses but that was taking out the licenses, not actually running them yet.

    5. You do understand that when you’re your own boss you have a waaaaay more flexible schedule.

    6. Perhaps he has an income stream from rental prperty or some other source. Every body takes days off.

    7. John has own towing business and also he is elected constable in town, so actually he does work a lot. He just got married, so I think traveling with his new wife is something he can distract himself on!

    8. When you are self-employed at work that has a flexible schedule, you can. Even people who are employed by a business don't normally work 7 days a week. Do you think the thousands of people in Branson at any given time are unemployed?

    9. John is a constable, but he would get days off and holidays,he wants to spend quality time with his new wife before they get busy bringing up a family

    10. John works for TLC and, perhaps, is hired as a pilot often. Also, I think he is the towns constable. Plus, they have zero debt!

      Delete
    11. I think it's only an hour's drive from there home to Branson or very close so I wouldn't really consider it a splurge to go there. They could even do a day trip.

      Delete
    12. I seriously doubt that John would be hired as a pilot by TLC. He is not a commercial pilot. It is one thing to ferry around family. It is an other thing to fly around strangers and freight. The insurance liabilities would be huge.

He "works' for TLC because he would be paid for any appearances.

We also do not know they have zero debt. Plane ownership is expensive and the Duggars own several. And even if he has no debt, he still has to pay for his everyday expenses... That requires an income, which probably is not totally covered by the TLC paycheck. (The family is probably paid a lump sum)

    13. According to people online he seems to have 4 jobs : constable, pilot, tv star, and tow service. I personally don't know how anyone could juggle 4 jobs at once or even want to and also when there would ever be time off to vacation.

  14. I hope Abbie likes Branson. It's one of the Duggar's favorite places.

  19. Funny how in almost every single photograph of them, she is on his right. All their pictures seem the same. But at least they look beyond happy together in them all. Love how big a smile he has now compared to before Abbie.

  20. I live near there as well. My sister and her husband have been there a few times. They love it. So far I've never been but I hope to get there there in the not too distant future.
