Message from Newlyweds John and Abbie

John Duggar marries Abbie Burnett

John-David Duggar and Abbie Burnett are husband and wife, and they couldn't be any cuter! In the video below, filmed right after their "I dos," the bride and groom are beaming as they talk about their wedding ceremony and how much they are looking forward to their new life together.

  1. I can't view the video but what a really sweet picture that is above, so natural, not stilted or awkward like many of the others have been. They seem genuinely in love. I'm thrilled that John finally looks so happy.

    1. Try the TLC website, I found the video worked there but not here.

    2. You’re right! The other couples, especially Josiah and Lauren, seemed pretty awkward on their first video. John and Abbie are super comfortable with each other. It’s great!

    3. As usual TLC don't allow UK viewers to see the video. I don't understand it, its not keeping a secret we know they are married (their weddings are the worst kept secrets!)and by the time it airs in the UK we will have seen so many photographs, blogs and youtube clips that we don't need to watch the show!

    4. Of course the other couples were happy on their wedding day,why wouldnt they be,everyone expresses happiness differently ,John and Abbie are just naturally smily types of people

      Delete
    5. I thought the same: it's so refreshing and cute to see them so at ease with each other!
Probably because they married later (but still very young for society), and with more life experience, so they know better than others who they are and what they want. Well done, guys!
JD really is the rolemodel he wanted to become for his sibling.

    6. 11:00, 26 and almost 29 are “very young” for society.

      Delete
    7. "Naturally smiley" is not at all how you could have described John David before he met Abbie! He's never looked so relaxed and just thoroughly pleased with himself! Before, he was far more reserved and shy. Love suits him.

    8. They have no more experience when it comes to dating than any other of the Duggar kids or their spouses. They also had a very short courtship. There's no way they could know better than the others. I think John David waited so long to court because he was shy. Maybe Abbie is, too. Age doesn't automatically give you more knowledge or experience when it comes to these matters.

      Delete
    9. Maturity shows through with these two. So, happy they found each other and are married.

      Delete
    10. Everyone has been calling these two mature, yet when all those 18 and 19 year olds in the family got married, people were claiming they were mature, too. It can't be both ways.

      Delete
    11. They have more life experience because they have real jobs. They have been working and more in contact with other people, outside their families. They don't have (probably) dating experience, but - no offence - I personally think that waiting until you are 26 and 29 gives you more time to reflect and learn.
Regardless of the reason why they didn't date earlier, I think that theydo have more life experience than those who jumped into relatioships as soon as they were of age. No offence, to each their own, I'm just showing my appreciation.

    12. 9:59, not sure I understand your logic. There are mature teens, just as there are mature 20-somethings. You can have both.

      Delete
    13. 3:13 -- 26 and 29 are not young for marriage in today's world.

      Delete
    14. 9:59. I doubt that those who state that the newlyweds are mature are the same posters who claim 18 or 19 year olds are.

    I love Abbys hair!!!

  6. I can't view the video either. They are an adorable couple and I can't wait to see their wedding and where they're going to live. Are they going to live in Arkansas?

  7. Is John’s shirt lavendar or is it white? I wonder if the lighting affected the colors. If it’s lavendar it sure doesn’t look good with a peach flower.

  11. They are definitely going to enjoy that honeymoon. So many couples completely cheapen that once in a lifetime experience before marriage. I pray that they enjoy a wonderful and fruitful marriage going forward.

    1. I agree! It always pays to save yourself for your intended.

      Delete
    2. "Completely cheapen" ??!

Pretty audacious of you to judge what other people do when it comes to these things.

      Delete
    3. I absolutely don't agree with 10:19.

      Delete
    4. @10:19—not always!

      Delete
    5. How exactly does it "pay" to save yourself?

      Delete
    6. Saving yourself for your intended prevents being exposed to stds is one way it pays. I 100% agree with 10:19 and 7:36.

      Delete
    7. It pays because God blesses you when you obey Him. You also don’t compare your spouse to someone else. You don’t have to worry about venereal diseases if neither spouse has been with anyone else. There are tons of benefits!!!

      Delete
    8. You get a tv program to"pay" when you do things differently, maybe thats what she meant, lol

      Delete
    9. 8:42 has it right. 100%.

      Delete
    10. anon/8:42- God blesses you when you obey him? Do you also believe that bad things happen to us because God is punishing us? I find this offensive and am really glad that I don't buy into that distorted logic. Bad things happen to good people all the time. Perhaps your requirement for being "blessed" means you have to be a card-carrying member of one particular church or religion.

      Delete
    11. It pays to save yourself for marriage because that's what the bible says!!! You people trying to make your own ideas about it are off! The bible means what it says, and if we stay from the truth. Then we need to repent and TURN!

  13. Guess we missed the rapture. The bachelor til then is no more.

    ReplyDelete

    1. After their courtship was announced, John said he reconsidered the whole "bachelor til the rapture" thing. It was cute!

  14. Beautiful dress, sweet couple. Hoping for many years of happiness together

  15. He'd look better if he shaved that scruff off.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree! But it seems to be the current trend.

      Delete
    2. No no! It makes him so much more handsome than not having anything there! I don’t like long wild woolly hair or beards but I love shadow beards. So handsome!

      Delete
    3. Beards like that only look like you forgot to shave. And having it touch your own bare skin is uncomfortable. No thanks!

      Delete
    4. I agree he looks scruffy which doesn't look good with his tux, a little effort on his wedding day wouldn't have gone amiss, but maybe Abbie likes that look.

      Delete
    5. He looks great with the scruff. More manly. I'm sure it was Abbie's preference, or he would not have done it.

      Delete
    6. Abbie probably likes the look. It seems John started growing it after they got together. Jill wanted Derick to have some scruffiness for their wedding. Not everyone wants a clean shaven guy or dislikes facial hair.

      Delete
  16. They are going to be off for a month or so?? Wow how lucky to be able to have the luxury of that much time. I hope they see a lot and enjoy being alone.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Being alone? With the camera crew recording their honeymoon to be shown on a TV show? Personally I'd opt for a shorter trip without the crew.

      Delete
    2. I didn't hear that at all. I heard John: "they have nothing planned for the next several weeks"; Abbie: "a honeymoon." Don't put your interpretation on something and then claim it as fact please. Congrats John and Abbie, you both look so happy.

      Delete
    3. When you work for yourself, as JD does, then you don't get paid when you take time off. Some people value time together more than money. Just because you prefer money, doesn't mean everyone else does. Yes, time is a luxury, one that people don't think of when they are so busy working so that they can buy more stuff. Focus on people and you will be more fulfilled.

      Delete
    4. Wait! Isn’t he an alderman or something for the town as well as a pilot???

      Delete
    5. He didn’t say that he wouldn’t be working. I took it to mean that their plans are just to go on their honeymoon and spend lots of time together before making other plans. He could be taking off work for weeks. He has probably been saving up for years since he has worked for a long time.

  17. This is the happiest I have ever seen John! Praise God! What a gift they are to each other. Congradulations to both of you. May God richly bless your committment to each other and bring in completion the purpose for each of you, as you walk through this life together!

  20. There is a likeness to Abbie and Jana. And notice that same smile on Jana in the Duggar blog header that Abbie has in this video!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't see much resemblance between them, but Abbie does have a lovely smile.

      Delete
    2. She does look like Jana. Instead of marrying someone like his mama, he married someone like his twin. Such a sweet couple.

      Delete
    3. I agree 5:38. From the first time I saw a picture of Abbie I thought she had a likeness to Jana.

    3. Well Ellie, who does the blog posts, I’m quite sure will have the correct information, and she said it was in Abbie’s home town state of Oklahoma, so nothing confusing there...

    4. I read the information on people magazine as well as CNN and other news outlets, the information here is always correct.

  32. Curious about where they are going to live? Is Abbie going to keep working as a nurse? Nurses rock! Does she come from a large, religious family too?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Abbie and her family are members of IBLP just like the Duggars; that is how they met. The newlywed couple will reside in Arkansas. This is supported by John currently running for re-election to his role as constable in Arkansas.

      Delete
    2. JD is running for constable again so - Arkansas.

    3. Will he be the only one running again?

  35. They really look sooo happy. It just shows you the blessing of waiting on God's timing.

  36. I am looking forward to learning more about Abbie. I have curly hair too and I love how she wears hers in a natural style!

  37. That was a very sweet video. I wish them every happiness.

  38. CONGRATULATIONS! And thanks for the video that put a smile on my face after a hard day at work! Lovely couple!

    ReplyDelete
  39. John David seems almost transformed by so much love and happiness. The difference in the before Abbie and after Abbie versions of him are extreme.
Abbie is a beautiful bride. I have no sense of her other than in the context of John David, so I don’t know if she also seems like an entirely different person since getting together with him, but she looks glowingly happy.
May their lives always be filled with such love and happiness as they were on this day.
