The newest Duggar addition, Garrett David Duggar, is now six days old. Just before their little man's June 8th arrival, Joseph and Kendra Duggar had maternity photos taken.

Kendra is so pretty in these pictures!!
ReplyDeleteSo much for Kendra & Joe "keeping private." Did you really think this was going to be a low-key event in the Duggar story?
ReplyDeleteOne photo shoot and a handful of pictures released here and there through the nine months is relatively low-key.
DeleteJust wait. They'll be all over the next season. We had to see their wedding how many times? Three?
DeleteOh no, not the "belly clutch". I thought she wouldn't do that. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteStop being judge! Let her be!
DeleteGet over yourself, anyone who takes maternity pictures puts their hand under their stomach.
DeleteClutch means "grasp or seize tightly or eagerly." Her hand underneath her belly is neither grasping nor seizing.
DeleteOh no, not the people telling them how they should pose for a picture. Sigh.
DeleteMaybe they're all afraid no one will know they're pregnant otherwise? LOL Just kidding, of course! :)
DeleteShe's holding the baby
DeleteVery nice pictures! A lovely place. Were these taken at their home?
ReplyDeleteWow. She looked so good. I wish I looked that good lol. But I was so swollen.
ReplyDeleteYou would have looked every bit as good, with professional stylists, hair stylists, a makeup artist (hiding the fatigue, dark circles, fine lines, swelling, uneven skin tone, etc.), camera filters, exceptional enhanced lighting for your photo shoot, and professional photo-shopping. There's very little real in this reality TV gig.
Deletemy daughter is due in August her and her patner have gone away for the weekend she sent me a photo her feet and legs and hands are so swollen bless her she,s not had an easy time but as this is her 1st ay out of 4 pregnancy,s i think she,s just happy baby peanut is ok
DeleteWhat a sweet batch of pictures! I love her maternity top. You can just feel the love exuding from them.
ReplyDeleteShe looked so cute! Her stance does not appear to be exaggerated to show of the bump to excess. The top looks to be designed for a pregnant woman and the skirt fits her so well. She may be very young but she has a great sense of style.
ReplyDeleteShe looks very classy in her maternity blouse instead of a super-tight T-shirt.
ReplyDeleteWhy did you feel the need to add “instead of a super tight T-shirt”? Can’t you just make a friendly comment without criticizing others?
DeleteThere's nothing wrong with pointing out that she is not wearing the tight tees that her sisters-in-law wear.
DeleteThey are such a cute couple , love the photos
ReplyDeleteDear Kendra, you look very beautiful and so does Jinger. We can't wait much longer to see all of you back on TV for more seasons to come. We can't wait to see the births and gender reveal parties of Garrett and baby Vuolo. Natasha B
ReplyDeleteI could only access 3 pictures on the TLC site, and only 1 as more than a "thumbnail". One is the picture shown above, two are of Kendra by herself on a deck. I found the pictures to be very tastefully done and I hope Kendra doesn't get too much backlash for participating in the photo shoot. Sadly I am sure there will be some.
ReplyDeletepic number 4 stays blank i thought the same but clicked again and it went to the next photo
DeleteThis is Anon at 559PM again. Thanks for the tip! I was able to see the rest of the pics now. Joe and Kendra are very cute together.
DeleteWhat a lovely picture of a very happy young couple awaiting the birth of their precious first child. Kendra has nice maternity fashion, that is a very pretty summer top, & the skirt a perfect length to go with it, neither too long or too short, she looks just lovely. She always has such an amazing smile too, she genuinely looks happy all the time
ReplyDeletei hope we're able to see a lot more of this couple! kendra clothes have been so adorable and modest, and she seems so mature. joseph seems like he's a doting husband and will be a 'hands on' dad. such an adorable little family!
ReplyDeleteWhen do we get to see his house? I guess that is what they are standing in front of. They should do a house video tour. Would like to see the nursery.
ReplyDeleteJoe made a good jo of building it and inside is pretty by the few snapshot,s taken inside
DeleteJoe didn’t build it. It’s grandma Mary’s old house...
DeleteAm I the only one that thought they moved the house to the Duggar property for Grandma Mary to live in?
Delete10:50 - They did initially move the house for Grandma Mary. There was a video and everything where they showed them moving the house onto the property and Mary talking about how much the house meant to her. I don't know when they decided Joe and Kendra would live there. It's strange because I'm pretty sure TLC produced that video and then the tv episode made it sound like Joe took the initiative to move the house for him and Kendra.
DeleteOh thats a cute shot!
ReplyDeleteKenda looks very nice and happy.
ReplyDeleteStunning!
ReplyDeleteI know it’s part of our social media culture but I hate that pregnant lady pose where they look like they are wiping .
ReplyDeleteWiping...what??
DeleteUmmm...wiping what? She's holding her baby, as much as she can, while it's not yet born. Not a big deal. Definitely does not look like she's wiping ANYTHING. Poor girl!
DeleteWhat a gross comment. The photos are very tasteful.
DeleteWHAT?!! How do you see that, she’s cradling her belly.
Delete1:48..you know what. And while the OP’s comment may be uncouth, it is 100% accurate!!
DeleteModest couple.
ReplyDeleteThey want a big family. Are they goiing to do this for every child? That is maybe a problem die the rest of their childeren.
ReplyDelete????
DeleteSure, at least while the show is running. After all, unlike most of us who pay to have professional pictures taken, the Duggars GET paid! And possibly even after the end of the show, since Jinger is a pretty good photographer who has taken semi-pro pics of family members before.
DeleteIf she has pictures for baby 1 then baby 7 and 8 also need pictures.
DeleteNo only for the first child. Then it is al new.
DeleteOh no! Dear, sweet Kendra caved to current maternity photography trend! I was hoping she would be the rebel of the group. However, I absolutely love her style of maternity clothes, so stylish with a crisp flattering look. Can she let fans know where she shopped for her clothes? Absolutely love this couple!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I can't imagine why she did that in the picture. Perhaps the photographer talked her into it.
DeleteWhy can't we just accept that she has some pictures cradling her soon-to-be born child and let it go?
DeleteI would assume TLC shopped for the clothes. She looks adorable though!
DeleteI’m curious as to why people are bothered by maternity photos, as well as the gals posing with their hands on their belly? Could this possibly be a generational issue? I’m expecting and in my last year of my 20’s. I think pregnancy photos and belly holding is quite normal- many of my family members and friends close to my age have also had maternity photos taken and have done the belly cradling pose. I don’t mean to be offensive I’m just wondering if those who disapprove of these things are of a generation that didn’t see this kind of thing before.
DeleteAnon at 1154AM: Obviously because some people like to judge the Duggars for being "immodest" or of "flaunting" their pregnancies, even though I see nothing immodest about Kendra's attire or poses in this shoot.
DeleteOr maybe they want to go back to the Victorian age when pregnant women were expected to be "confined" at home in the late stages of pregnancy so they wouldn't scandalize anyone with their pregnant bellies.
Why can’t she stand how she wants without the critical team coming in to complain?
DeleteOh no! She did something 99% of all pregnant moms have done at some point in their pregnancy, what a terrible thing! Horrors! (*insert eyeroll*)
Delete12:33 - I'm curious too. I'm in my mid-40s, and I see nothing wrong with either the photos or cradling her unborn baby, although I didn't do either myself.
DeleteThe trend of tight maternity tops and the low “ baby cradling pose” started in 1991 by an actress, and continued to spread thru other pregnant Hollywood actresses later to be taken up by the general public. So thank Hollywood for another influential trend or maybe not...look it up for more info on the topic.
DeleteWhy pink of she has a boy?
DeleteAnon:12:33P.M. I believe it's a generation thing. I will be 65 next month. Although Joe and Kendra's photos are tastefully done, my generation rarely touch their belly in a photo, and if they did they would gently lay their hand up on top of their belly, not clutching underneath their belly. I loved touching my pregnant belly, but it was never in a photo...Jane
DeleteHappy birthday, Jane! I will be 65 next month, too! I agree with you that this is a generational thing, and would not have been done in our day; however, as you say, the photos are tastefully done, and Joe and Kendra are just a lovely young couple, and sweet little Garrett is adorable!
DeleteBeautiful. Congratulations and blessings to you 3. Welcome Garrett.
ReplyDeleteAdorable
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Cant wait to see both Gideon and Garrett's birth episodes on Counting On! Love the outfit by the way!
ReplyDeleteLovely picture
ReplyDeleteKendra is beautiful. I love her choice of maternity wear.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI wish maternity photos were in when I was pregnant. I would love to have nice photos to document the milestones! Gorgeous pictures!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely photo. They both look so content, and she is one of the loveliest women I jave ever seen, in late stage pregnancy. While pregnancy is an incredible thing, summer heat, restricted breathing, and swelling can make those last weeks rough. I NEVER looked so good when I was pregnant!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Thankfully out of my five pregnancies, only one of them was born in the summer. That one was a bit rough.
DeleteCompletely agree, 9:45... Kendra carried her pregnancy beautifully. I agree with your statement about her being one of the loveliest women you have ever seen in late stage pregnancy.
Deletei didnt know having pre-baby pictures was a 'trend'? when i had mine, we always had a couple of pictures taken for 'before & after' pictures of each of the kids and as a family. and this was before taking pictures was as 'easy/accessible' as it is now, 30 years ago!
ReplyDeletei think the difference is that more people have access & the ability at their fingertips now so we see more of it. 20 years ago when kendra was born, the internet was just coming into peoples homes and there was no 'social media' to share info on. if you wanted to show someone your pictures, you did so in person with the developed pictures that took a week to come back, or had extra copies made to share! betcha that's how kendra's mom started too. nothing like it is now!
besides, kendra's has the absolute best maternity style and there cant be too many pictures of that!
Yes her style is so modest. No pictures of old t shirts. But real Nice clothing.
DeleteOh yes, many people get maternity pics now. I have mine to put in my son's baby book. My cousin has a good camera so the pics turned out as great as if it were from a pro. What has also become very popular are gender reveal parties.
DeleteWhy no pictures of Garrett?
ReplyDeleteoh bless her and to think just a couple of days later Garrett David was born she looked so well and like Jinger looked smart and pretty hope they are both enjoing there time with there new son because they grow up so quick
ReplyDeleteTime 9:50AM Sat 6/16
ReplyDeleteKendra looks so cute in this photo with Joe.
I would never have wanted to do a pregnancy photo shoot because I wouldn't want to remember how big I was! But I think Kendra looks darling in these photos. What's it to us if they want to commemorate this special time for their family and if she (gasp! horrors!) wants to put her hand on her precious baby for those photos?
ReplyDeleteAfter while I didn't love how i looked but it's more for a baby book and memories. I know so many who put pregnancy pics on Facebook. I didn't do that myself.
DeleteAnon 12.33. I don't know that this is a generational thing about cradling the "bump" I'm a woman in her late 40s & when I had my children over 20 years ago I remember constantly cradling my bump as it was an instinctive nurturing thing for me to do, like I was protecting my unborn child the only way I could. There isn't a single picture of me taken while pregnant where I'm not holding my tummy so no I don't think it's a generational thing I think some people just like to make a big deal out of a harmless gesture. I like you don't get why people are bothered by this at all. May I just say as well good luck to you with your baby, hope the birth goes well for you & you enjoy your new little bundle when it arrives.
ReplyDeleteI hope Joe had a safe delivery of his cell phone bump, too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a whopper!
DeleteWhy would you be looking so closely at that part of the picture? I had to enlarge the pic to even see what you were talking about. Pretty close to a rather private part of his body. Just had to find something to nit pick?
DeleteShe looks so pretty and her clothes are very tasteful. She has a nice looking husband, too.
ReplyDeleteI saw a picture of her holding Garrett and thought she looked stunning right after giving both.

ReplyDeleteDear Ellie & Lily
I know your blog has RULES I keep seeing negative comments here lately on this blog. Please remove any bad comments on here. This is suppose to be a family friendly blog. Certain people are tired of mean comments that are mad about this family. Could you please remove these comments?
Sincerely your number 1 fan
Neddy Constant.
Hi Neddy I live thousands of miles away from you but always like to read your comments. I have only recently come back to reading this blog as a couple of months ago I left after reading some quite hurtful comments about members of this family & didn't want to be a part of it. I came back last week to comment on the happy event of Kendra giving birth & something I posted was picked up as being offensive to Americans when it was actually meant to be the total opposite. I'm sure Ellie & Lily have to filter out many "very inappropriate comments" & they do a great job but I feel they try to keep in ones that give all views & so long as they are not rude or profane I see no problem with this. It's lovely you feel so sensitiive & are obviously a kind young woman but it's sometimes nice to have debate about things & I think it would be wrong if Ellie & lily were to only include sugary comments saying "blessing" etc. No family or person is perfect & im sure the Duggars would be the first to agree with free speech so as long as no one is being deliberately cruel I think the blog should be left as it is so we can all give our own opinion, whether the other people agree or not, the world isnt like that people will always disagree with each other & if only "good" comments were posted this blog would be like a dictatorship. Sometimes people write things out of genuine concern that are picked up by someone else as rude & thats not always the case. I think most of the people that write on here very much have the Duggars best interests at heart, but that's not to say they all agree with everything they do. A perfect example is I love my children dearly but that's not to say I always agree with everything they do. I hope I have explained myself clearly to you Neddy & have not upset you at all, I'm just trying to explain why we need comments from all sides but I do understand that sometimes people can be quite deliberately hurtful. If everyone was like you our world would be a better place but unfortunately not everyone is as kind hearted.
DeleteI personally think Lily & Ellie are doing a great job with this blog. It’s important to remember it is their blog and they don’t need anyone to tell them how to run it. If people get that upset over different opinions then maybe it would be best just to not to participate, or maybe you can start your own blog. Then you can set your own rules. By constantly telling them to remove comments or not allow others you are basically saying you don’t like the job they are doing.
DeleteAnon 2.50pm, I agree, Ellie & Lily do a wonderful job of what must be a huge time consuming task reading through all the comments they must receive. I just get the feeling Neddy is a very kind gentle soul that maybe sees no wrong in anyone. I know after joy gave birth there were a good few comments that were quite awful & I thought it sad they were levelled at a 20 year old girl & I thought rather than get angry I would not read the blog for a while (I was going through a stressful time writing my thesis & tbh I think was quite over sensitive). I think what I'm trying to say is Neddy may be a little over sensitive too but I would far rather read this blog as it is with debate from all sides (so long as it's not cruel) than to read people comment that are totally behind whatever the Duggars do, whether right or wrong. It's good to see different opinions, only when comments are levied toward a young girls weight & appearance does it bother me slightly as you just don't know what impact those comments may have. Hopefully Neddy will realise Ellie & Lily can't just publish the positive comments & I'm sure they "know" Neddy well enough from her comments to know she is a kind hearted girl that sees the best in people & I'm sure they won't have taken offence in what she wrote about altering the blog.
DeleteThanks Lily and Ellie for posting these comments. I must admit I don't always agree with your interpretation of what is "insulting, derogatory, or in poor taste" as I do find some of the comments you allow do cross that line, though I do commend you for filtering actual profanity. However I do think overall you do manage to balance the comments, this is one of the few venues where people can have a civil discussion that does include disagreements and even critiques of the Duggars but without turning into a hateful bashfest.
DeleteDear Ellie and Lily, you are doing fine with the comments. Please continue to allow a balanced discussion. What some consider "negative" is "realistic" to others. The Duggars wanted their program/website to be a ministry to the unsaved. It is not a ministry to unsaved if the only people participating are already Christians who are just like them. So what if people make comments and ask questions because the lifestyle seems odd to them? At least they are here and paying attention.
ReplyDeleteTime 1:40pm Mon 6/18
DeleteIam talking about comments that I read on the blog is rude that I dont like other then that certain comments are good. Iam taking about the comments I read about certain people telling this family would to do with there lives.
Kendra has class when it comes to clothes!
