The third episode in the new season of Counting On airs tonight on TLC (summary below). I (Ellie) am especially looking forward to this show because I was able to join the Duggars for Joy-Anna Duggar's dress fitting at Renee's Bridal in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. Watching from behind the scenes was a blast, and just a short while later, I was also invited to Kendra Caldwell's dress fitting.
Since this episode was filmed, Joy and Austin have tied the knot and announced a pregnancy. Lots of exciting things happening in the Duggar family!
Following the episode, we will be posting exclusive photos from the fitting!

9pm: Finding Joy's Dress (NEW)
Joy travels to Kentucky to find her perfect wedding dress, but with so many options, the overwhelmed bride has to make some big decisions. Joy and Austin enjoy bonding time with their future fathers-in-law, and Israel celebrates his 2nd birthday.

She made such a pretty bride. Her dress was just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOH NO...Grandma is wearing the awful green shirt!
ReplyDeleteJim bob must have been wearing a different shirt that day, he and Michelle like to match!
DeleteThat shirt gets around! Even JB has the male version of it.
DeleteFashion police?
DeleteOh, leave Grandma alone. She can wear whatever she pleases.
DeleteI have a feeling she didn't really know what she wanted considering how indecisive she is.
ReplyDeleteI also think she would've looked better with an updo like Jinger.
Kendra looked great on her wedding day. Loved her dress.
I agree. Would have liked an up do hair style. They always wear their hair the same way. It would have been nice for something different for the wedding.
DeleteFeeling?................
DeleteYes, she would have looked pretty with her hair up, or at least a dressier style.
DeleteI bet Joy is embarrassed now watching these wedding planning episodes back. Her behavior was so pouty, rude and immature. Not gracious to all of the people helping her. Certainly not mature enough for a woman about to be married.
DeleteWhy did they have to travel to KY to find a dress? What's wrong with shopping locally?
ReplyDeleteThe show pays for the trip and the designer gives the dress for free. The Duggars love freebies; why would they shop locally like a "normal" person?
DeleteThat's where Renne is
DeleteSometimes shopping locally doesn't always have what you want. I went out of State to get my dress also.
DeleteMaybe they should have gone to Kleinfeld's in NYC and let TLC film it for "Say Yes to the Dress." Joy could have gotten a free lovely turtleneck gown just like her mother's vow renewal gown.
ReplyDeleteLOL
DeleteThis is cyberbullying - trying to make Joy's special outing less enjoyable by taunting her over a dress her mother wore 8 years ago. As I recall, Michelle and her groom were happy with the dress. It's possible to publish various points of view without giving a platform to cyberbullies.
DeleteI don't think that was free and Michelle's dress is what she wanted. Not everyone is going to want what kind of dress you want or had.
DeleteAnon @ 4:32 I don't see how the original comment is going to make Joys special outing less enjoyable as it happened months ago, the wedding is over and Joy is pregnant. Also Joy looked she wanted to be anywhere else other than trying on dresses so I don't think she would have minded the remark which was funny and not cyber bullying imo because it in no way attacked Joy.
Delete4:32--cyberbullying? 😠come on, someone is Asking a question . Do we have fragile snowflakes reading this blog too?
DeleteI thought that was a clever referral to the silly episode where Michelle had to pick out a dress that Jim Bob approved of, and he wanted it to be more & more modest, no matter how many layers at the neck or jacket sleeves they added! Anything odd or unusual referred to on this blog is always something the Duggars already did or said themselves!
DeleteEllie, will we get to see you in tonight's episode? I would love it if we do.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you. Since it was a special time for Joy and the other Duggar ladies, I stayed behind the cameras during filming, but I was able to chat with them between shots.
DeleteEllie
That dress she is wearing in the pic is absolutely adorable on her!!! Looks a lot like her personality. I wonder why she didn't like it?
ReplyDeleteI don't think that dress in the picture is flattering. It cuts off right at the calf, the widest part of a woman's leg. Paired with flats (didn't she want to wear flats?), it's a miss, not a hit.
DeleteI think it looks more like a flower girl dress than a wedding dress, for her at least.
DeleteNot a fan. Glad she didn't choose that one
DeleteIt looks like a dress for a child's First Communion.
DeleteHow lucky you were! Thank you for sharing, hope you'll post a picture of you!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is pretty but so far out of all the sisters, I loved Jessa's dress the best.
ReplyDeleteI loved Jinger's and Jessa's. Although I wouldn't ever have a train as long as Jinger's. Lol
DeleteLoved Jessa's ! It was so gorgeous for a modest wedding dress !
DeleteKendra's blew the others out of the water, even Jinger's.
DeleteI preferred the tea length since she isn't very tall.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that the headband wasn't part of Joy's final selection
ReplyDeletesame
DeleteYep ! I don't understand why she would have wanted that.
DeleteI liked it :>
DeleteI liked Joy's dress but I personally would of choose something abit more flattering to her figure, maybe tighet around the waist etc. Her dress didn't seem like it fitted her correctly
ReplyDeleteI didn't understand why they had to make the neckline more "modest." I thought it was already too high and looked like it was choking her.
DeleteJoy has such a full "round" shape to her face, she should have had a V-neck gown to elongate things, not that short scoop neck.
Deletehow exciting for you ellie!
ReplyDeleteI hope that other young women planning for their wedding know that having a custom dress made in just a few weeks is not the norm. It typically takes months to order the dress. Every young woman I know who has recently married ordered their dresses at least 8 months before the actual wedding. The dress took 6 months to arrive and then two months for alterations. The aim was to have the dress ready two to three weeks before the actual wedding.
ReplyDeleteI got the feeling that Renee worked on those dresses well in advance. Maybe when she got done making one Duggar bride's dress, she started on the next ones, before any wedding date was set? I also got the feeling that she dropped everything to get ready for the filming, had a lot of help, and used it as an opportunity to promote her dresses, whether they were what Joy wanted or not.
DeleteAnd Joy made the comment on the show that it normally takes 6-8 months for a custom made dress and she was lucky to get one in a shorter time frame.
DeleteJoy should have also commented that most brides have to pay for their dress, and the Duggars are lucky to get theirs for free.
DeleteGood thing Josie wears those leggings under her dress....
ReplyDeleteThey should teach her to sit without her legs in the air...😳
Chill, she's seven
DeleteShe is pretty wiggly, and they don't try to stop her. She was always crawling on the counters on the old show. She's old enough now, though, to learn how to sit nicely.
DeleteI enjoyed the episode for the most part, but noticed - Joy didnt really seem to be gung-ho on finding a dress! Also, why do these girls all calk their fiancee their "best friend"? They truly don't know each other well, and they've yet to even have a private conversation to even tell secrets like real best friends actually do!
ReplyDeleteHuh. I considered my fiance to be my best friend, and no, I didn't know him as well as I know him now after 16 years of marriage. They have months of observing, months of talking, months of courtship, months of engagement to get to know each other well.
DeleteJosie looks totally bored in that picture. I don't understand why those girls needed to come.
