Stephanie: I agree even if they would co-ordinate the color of the girls shoes it would look so much better, and Jessa has worn those same sandals to almost every wedding. I also cannot get past the mens pants, Joes especially need at least two inches off the length, and does no one in the family own an iron, the all have really noticable fold creases in them, you would surely press them for such an important occassion?

ReplyDeleteI wish the couple every happiness in their marriage. They look so happy. I'm a big fan of the Duggers. Every family has their share of problems but it's how you deal with those problems that matter. And they seem to deal with them pretty well.

DeleteJust looked through the additional photos, and wow! It was a beautiful wedding! Kendra looks absolutely stunning. I love the decorations in the church. Kendra's mother is beautiful and looks so young-- I thought she was a sister or friend until I saw the picture of Mom and Dad with Kendra. The photos of Kendra and Joe are breath-taking. I remember how joyous my wedding was, but I bet even more so for them getting to experience the freedom to touch and hold each other as husband and wife! Precious! ❤️

ReplyDeleteI was wondering the same thing. She is hiding her stomach and something looks different about her face. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she is, because she was pregnant with Henry by the time Spurgeon was six months old and Henry is now six months old.

DeleteJill gave birth to Samuel, on July 8th. Thus, she is probably, still carrying, some baby weight.
DeleteMost women still have a 'tummy' for a little while after giving birth, and Jill had a second c-section just a couple of months ago it will take a while for muscles to heal and I am sure she is also carrying some baby weight, give her a chance!
DeleteI doubt it. She just had an extremely difficult delivery two months ago and had a very large baby. She also seems to hold on to the weight longer than Jessa and Anna do. However, I think that Jessa might be pregnant.

DeleteThat dress or variations of it is very common here. My daughter, who married this summer, tried on several dresses that were similar to Kendra"s. One was identical, if not the same. That one cost $3500.
DeleteShe (my daughter) decided that the top was too heavy for the bottom. The dress would also look better with a sash to define the waist.
I am curious about the timing of these Duggar weddings. Ordering a wedding dress usually takes 6 to 8 months. That is even if you buy a dress from a local designer (and especially so). The Duggars and the Duggar daughter-in-laws must have to buy a sample/sale dress "off the rack" and hope they do not have to modify the dress too much.
I didn't care for the dress, either. Those tiers were done ages ago by the top bridal designers (Wang, Cassini, etc.). That look has now trickled down into off-the-rack bridal, only not done with as much polished panache.
DeleteThe top and the bottom do have a bit of mismatch going on visually. You're right, there should be something at the waist to bring top and bottom together. The change is abrupt. I don't care for the high neckline, either. It doesn't go with the very short cap sleeves. A more scooped or portrait neckline would have been better, yet still "modest."
All in all, I'm not surprised that this dress style would appeal to a very young bride like Kendra. As far as your question about gown ordering time, this was another creation by Renee. Whether she altered an off-the-rack gown or sewed this one from scratch remains to be explained.
The (recent) Duggar brides have gowns custom-made nearly overnight by a designer who provides them for free in exchange for exposure on the television show. The process has been featured in all of the wedding episodes. $3500 for a dress to wear one day (and not long, in brides like Joy's case), would be absolutely ridiculous.

ReplyDeleteJessa and Joy should have nicer shoes on. Their very casual flat sandals do not go with their pretty lace dresses. But otherwise, it is a cute picture with everyone making faces!! And the single picture of Joe and Kendra is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Especially Jessa's shoes. She wears them a lot with jean skirts and other casual outfits. The brown thong type sandals just throw off the whole look. I wonder if Kendra was ok with all the mismatched shoes? Other than that, everything looked very pretty

ReplyDeleteActually, the groomsmen were in 3 piece suits. Some men who were not groomsmen were wearing the same tie as the groomsmen and had boutineers.

DeleteYour right Josh has been cropped out of the bottom picture. I think this is because it is a TLC picture, and they cannot show Josh under any circumstances. I am glad they are keeping their word on this, he should not be allowed any platform.

ReplyDeleteNo Josh is but he is cropped out on the right near Jill. Since the blog already posted pictures of him not sure why they cropped him out of this photo. On the Duggar site he's in those photos. Curious how TLC is going to keep Josh out of this wedding unless they have decided to add him back in. I for one don't think they should add him back in and I think it will cost them even more advertisers for their other shows.
DeleteI think so too. Someone did say Joe and Kendra had 22 attendants in their wedding. Including the little kids in the above picture, there are 18, so four are missing...maybe Josh, Anna, Trace Bates and one more?

DeleteJill looks like a woman who has had her abdomen cut open through surgery (C-section) for the second time, a couple of months ago.

DeleteShe just had Samuel in July. It takes time for the body to change after having a baby-- especially after a c-section. It is a major surgery with post-surgical swelling that takes time to resolve, as well.

DeleteJill is only about 9-10 weeks postpartum in this picture. Yes, she does still have the after delivery "pregnancy" tummy, and yes she had a C-section so her abdominal muscles needed to heal before any exercise routine. But, she does look more pregnant than post-delivery in this photo. I think it's the style of the dress...it just doesn't help the situation.

DeleteIt's Jill on the end. Unfortunately empire style dresses are not flattering when you are thick in the middle. Now it's only been 2 months post delivery, but that dress makes Jill look like she's still about 6/7 months pregnant. I hope she doesn't just settle into matronly "I'm a mommy" body. She's to young and to pretty for that.
DeleteThe one on the right looks pregnant. Is that Anna? or is that Jill? If it is Jill the girls' genes probably make them swell once they are pregnant or nursing. If it is Jill she still has a sizable post baby bump, almost as big as Joy's and could explain Joy's size this early in pregnancy. If it is Anna, she is doing quite for being about to give birth in a matter of days. Hope the best for all.

ReplyDeleteJoy-Anna is really going to regret her "eating for two" by the time she delivers this child. She would be 17 weeks approximately in this photo. Unless there are twins that "bump" is not all baby. A 17 week gestational baby is only 4.94 ounces...not pounds! Some good old fashioned cardio might be quite helpful:)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Some women use pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever they want and be lazy. You only need 500 extra calories a day and exercise is highly recommended!

DeleteThose who are asking if Jessa is pregnant again, if you have followed the Duggars for very long, you know that she doesn't announce pregnancies until the 2nd trimester, so why would you even ask? Also, those who are speculating about Jill being pregnant, Samuel is less than two months old. A lot of women have not lost all the baby belly weight by that time. Cut her a little slack! Lastly, it is so rude to speculate that Joy is father along than if she got pregnant after her wedding. That is just so rude to think and say. Women show differently. Of course she is proud of her baby bump. It's what she has waited for all of her life. Give her a break. She and Kendra are great friends, and I'm sure it doesn't bother Kendra one bit that Joy wants to make sure that her tummy is showing in this picture, especially since we can tell that it's a silly picture and not a formal one!
ReplyDeleteIt's very possible Jesss is in her second trimester. Henry is 7 months old. I'm not saying she is , but it's entirely possible she is 4-5 months along. Many siblings are 11 months apart.

DeleteThe bridesmaid's dresses look like they were China online-ordered dresses, which nothing wrong with that to save money. But, that being said, those types of dresses have inferior fabric (thin, filmsy) and usually do not have a flattering cut/drape.Therefore, enough about the baby bumps! If you look closely, even the little girls look like their bellies are bigger than normal! The seamline hits in an odd place across the middle: not empire and not at the waist. A very pretty wedding nonetheless and people just need to stop the pregnancy mania!! Who really cares?

DeleteI agree. Also, the Duggars have favored the brown shoes in the weddings and the girls in thongs or sandals. To me it would have looked so much more elegant with black shoes that were dressier. More appropriate for a wedding and maybe not any more expensive. For the most part, it looks pretty.
DeleteOnly Jinger and Jana have appropriate footwear in this wedding. I'm not a fan of the brown shoes for the guys but at least the style is appropriate. Also I can't see what Kendra's sister choose. It is completely inappropriate for Joy, Jessa and Jill to wear those awful shoes. It's one thing to let your bridesmaids choose their own footwear. I did, but I also provided stipulations such as they must be a dress shoe with at least a one inch heal. This is a wedding not a barbecue picnic, dress appropriately.

The way somebody dresses for their OWN wedding should not be one of them. How materialistic this world is. Pathetic people!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's more that in their religious circle, this is kind of Kendra's big day that's she's been dreaming of and planning for like forever. She clearly spent a lot of time and attention on her dress, Bridesmaid dresses, Joe's attire and the groomsmen, the flowers, the decor theme, the cake, and all the other details. So, things like the ultra-casual shoes that sort of undermine the fancier lace dresses and the pools of fabric bagging around the guys' ankles kind of detract from that somewhat. I think some posters are expressing surprise that no one (wedding planner or one of the married ladies) clued Kendra in on that. My guess is that the wedding planning itself was rather rushed and the pants were rentals (thus, no alterations or maybe time to coordinate and execute individual alterations). the truth is that it does visually detract from the "stylishness" of the wedding, but it in no way detracts from the marriage. :)

ReplyDeleteJoy is gaining too much weight this early on in her pregnancy. Women who gain too much weight during pregnancy are more prone to gestational diabetes, a dangerous condition in which your body is unable to produce enough insulin to balance glucose levels in your blood.
