  1. Ladies, who is this a photo of, because it's NOT Joy. Her hair is lighter brown and she's bigger boned than this lady in this photo...I think it's Jessa.

    1. That's not Jessa's ring, fingernails, or bathroom.

    2. Bigger boned? The photo looks just like Joy -- a perfect size.

    3. This could be anyone. Because it is taken in a camper bathroom

    4. She has been married for 14 weeks so someone tell me how she can be 16 weeks pregnant?

      Delete
    5. Yep! You've got a great point!I totally agree. It's an imposter in the photo!

      Delete
    6. This picture does look like Jessa! The hair looks like hers. Like the waves/layers in it, is the way Jessa wears her. Joy's hair is straight. And this looks exactly the way Jessa poses when doing selfies while pregnant. I so agree with you anonymous 3:14! It looks like Jessa!

    7. that is joy's ring on her perfect sized hand.

    8. (1) Why on earth would they post an "imposter" baby bump picture (especially when we've seen Joy's baby bump in their announcement video)?
      (2) For the person who asked how she could be 16 weeks pregnant, the first week of pregnancy is counted from the last menstrual period, not the date of conception, which is around two weeks apart.

    9. Oh my goodness, really!!?? Why woukd they fake a bump pic of Joy. Whay would be the purpose for that???

      Delete
    10. A camper bathroom? Are they living in a camper?

      Delete
    11. Betty: 'joys ring on her perfect sized hand', her hand has nothing to do with the size of her bump

    12. Congratulations Joy and Austin on your bundle of joy 🍁🍂🍁🍂

    13. This is definitely joy I'm not sure where ur getting that nonsense of it not looking like her

    14. Jeepers! Is that a camper bath? She's living in a camper and will have to bring up a baby in one?

  2. Congratulations from Nebraska!

  3. Oh great, she's got the Duggar girls' "push out the bump to make it look bigger" stance going on. Honey, you are going to wreck your back if you stand like that while pregnant. Try standing straighter. Thank me later.

    3. These girls are very proud of their bumps, aren't they?

      Delete
    4. Most moms-to-be are proud of their babies, lol - were you ashamed of yours?

      Delete
    5. Why shouldn't they be 9:51

      Delete
    6. They shouldn't be "proud of their bumps" because pride isn't exactly a godly attribute nor did they make that baby-it's a gift from God, entrusted to them. It's fine to be happy and excited about being pregnant. Proud, pregnant selfies...no.

  4. Not to be mean or rude or anything, but HOW is she just 3 months max (married may 26th) pregnant in those photos?!

    1. She short waisted, which can make someone look farther along, she may be carrying Moreno up front, could be a big baby, or even multiples. Lots of reasons why she may look farther along than theee months.

      Delete
    2. She would be 16 weeks approx (4months) if she conceived on her honeymoon. You ovulate approx 2 weeks after your period. Your due date is based on the first day of your last period making her about 16 weeks. You also don't know if it's one or two babies in there. Calm the judgement and please try and use the brain God gave you.

    3. I have to agree with you anon 3:33. Mom of three here and even with my last child I did not have baby bump like that at three months. Basically, no one can tell you are pregnant at three months especially with the first child. Either that girl is having triplets or something else is up.

      Delete
    4. better if I keep my mouth shut

      Delete
    5. All pregnancies are different. My first baby I didn't show until I was 7 months. I'm 3 months pregnant now and showing.

      Delete
    6. Mom of 6 and everyone is different. Again she would be right at 16 weeks if she got pregnant on her honeymoon, that's 4 months. How does everyone ignore this fact? 16 weeks. I was showing, showing at 16 weeks and only got way bigger the further along I went. Way to judge someone you don't know.

      Delete
    7. I was showing with my first by 12 weeks. Everyone is different.

      Delete
    8. I showed very quickly with my first. A few people made comments about my due date being wrong or I was pushing my belly out or I was gaining weight too fast (which I wasnt because I was so sick). I remember crying because I was showing so fast and some people were unkind about it. I even asked my doctor if something was wrong, but my doctor told me to just ignore others and just know every woman is different! My precious first baby was born right on time and weighed 7lb 6oz. Congratulations Joy and Austin! Joy you are a beautiful momma!

      Delete
    9. My cousin had a 10ib "premie"--LOL!! Her child is grown, but we still laugh and wink about it!!

      Delete
    10. Your three pregnancies hardly constitute a scientific study. I remember meeting someone who was in the same time as I was - I think around four months - I was showing large already, and her tummy was completely flat. We are all different.

      Delete
    11. Short waist and maybe twins?
Promotion showed icecream. Moderation when pregnant. Hopefully Joy receivers great care and directions on her eating habits.
      Congratulations to the family.

      Delete
    12. I'm a petite person who's had 5 kids. I always showed early, even with my first. My sister is a fitness coach with awesome abs and her belly took a lot longer to stretch and show. Everyone is different so let's share each other's joy. :)

      Delete
    13. Mum of 4 here and my bump was big from very early on with no.2 and no.4. Everyone's different as is every pregnancy. Possibility of multiples too

      Delete
    14. Do her rings look tight and her fingers swollen? She may be heading down the road to preeclampsia, a real danger for first-time moms. I had that and was puffy everywhere til the doctor finally put 2 + 2 together (military hospital, long ago, not the best of care...).

      Delete
    15. Every woman is different. I was big at 16 weeks with my first child (singleton, not multiples). You can't apply your pregnancy experience to her.

      Delete
    16. Good gosh! Some people show early and a lot.

      Delete
    17. I showed early with both of my babies. Everybody's body reacts to pregnancy differently

      Delete
    18. Dawn, I was showing that much with both of my girls at 3 months. Every body is different. My cousin didn't show until she was 7 months.
      Chill.

      Delete
    19. I hate to disappoint all of those who think something is up. Some of us just show faster. I couldn't zip up my jeans BEFORE I knew I was pg with my first. We HAD to tell people because there was no hiding it.

      Delete
    20. Dawn i was that big at 3 months with first child

      Delete
    21. Dawn, I have to disagree with your statement of "Basically, no one can tell you are pregnant at three months especially with the first child."

I was showing at 8 weeks with my first child, and YES it was VERY obvious!!! I was tiny!! by the time I was 3 months pregnant with my girl, I looked about 6 months, and at 6 months, I was a walking whale! Then with my boys, you couldn't tell I was pregnant until 8 months, and then my fourth child, another girl, I had alot of weight gain from the previous 3, and by the time I was 3 months pregnant, it was very obvious again.

You cannot simply say that "no one can tell you are pregnant at three months especially with the first child." because quite frankly, it isn't true. Some ladies do show very early, I'm just one of them.

      Delete
    22. Does it really matter? Be happy for them...

      Delete
    23. I showed at about 7 weeks with my first baby. By 9 weeks, people were asking me if I could be farther along than I thought. Some people just get big really quickly!

      Delete
    24. I'm both petite and very short-waisted and I didn't look anywhere near that big at 3 months-16 weeks along. Please do not automatically attitrbute her size to her being short-waisted.

      Delete
    25. That looks like a typical 14-16wk bump to me. All the Duggar girls have carried large babies. Not so shocking...Congrats Joy and Austin!

      Delete
    26. Um, some people show early, some late, every body is different!!

      Delete
    27. I don't show until 16 weeks but have friends who are in maternity clothes at 9 weeks, it's all body type

    28. I had a co-worker whose DIL was an itty-bitty woman with small hips and probably weighed 100 pounds soaking wet. She became pregnant around the same time as me. The co-worker should me a picture of her DIL three months this pregnant and said "She has a baby bump. You do not. I don't think you're Midwife is doing as good a job as an OB."

    29. Short waisted, all the calculations, triplets... the analysis cracks me up.

      Delete
    30. Er I did..... I'm 5ft 4 and I am quite slim I show quickly and I struggle to keep it a secret.... with my first I didn't even try as I was so sick with my 2nd ppl were guessing and i just ignored it until I was ready to say at 12wks.... she looks about 12wks along to me lol

      Delete
    31. Dawn, every woman is build differently and just because YOU didn't show immediately doesn't mean nobody else does. Try to think outside your little box.

      Delete
    32. Lol. I certainly looked pregnant at 3 months with my first baby! Due to bloating I looked pregnant by 5/6 weeks and couldn't do up normal jeans.

      Delete
    33. Honeymoon baby and maybe twins

      Delete
    34. No...wrong...every womans body and pregnancy is different...are we really going to go thru this again people...y'all did the same speculating and judgement with Jill and Jessa...Come on, just be happy for them as they are beaming,( I'm sure of it.) My sister had three completely different pregnancies and she had all boys... With her first baby she really showed in her second month, she looked five months pregnant, and everyone swore she was having twins or that the due date was wrong. Her third baby she barely had a bump while in her fifth month...and guess what.. they weighed 8 lbs, 8 lbs 3oz. and 8lbs 1oz. So NEVER compare your pregnancy with another woman...we are all... different people...literally.Blessings to you Joy...you will be a good mama with loads of experience already...Soooo happy for you both!!!😄😉🤗

    35. HOW is that anyone's business? "Something else is up"? Big deal. Even if she got pregnant before they were married, it's done and over with! The Duggars are not perfect and have never ever claimed to be. Every single person sins daily, and these 2 are no exception. All who are saved, are saved by GRACE. Try giving people grace instead of being a jealous jerk.

      Delete
    36. Mom of four (and doula) and I looked that pregnant with my first at three mos! Everyone's body shape is different and therefore carry differently. Please refrain from saying what people "should" look like based on YOUR experience.

      Delete
    37. Dawn, I'm a mom of three kids too, and although my belly took a lot longer to start showing up on my first pregnancy, it showed up REALLY fast on my second and third pregnancies, and that is known to be something totally normal! Seriously, when I was three months pregnant with my third, I looked 6 months pregnant, no joke! Diastasis recti is awfull!!! I guess it just depends os each person's body. And although I agree with Anonymous 3:33 that her belly looks big for someone around 3-4 months, I will not create any "theories" or make judgements because, as I said, each person's body and each pregnancy is different. I got pregnant on my honeymoon, it may have happened to Joy as well.

    39. First time moms are excited and want to look pregnant.....so she's just sticking out it there proudly. Give them a break, this is a joyous time for this couple.

      Delete
    40. Paula Cobb, your math is incorrect. You typed 2 posts saying 16 weeks, which is incorrect. Joy Anna got married the end of May, so 16 weeks from the end of May would be the end of September. This is the end of August right now, which makes her 3 months, assuming this is a honeymoon baby.

      Delete
    41. Pregnancy is calculated from the first day of your last menstral period, not conception date. So yes she could be at 16 weeks.

      Delete
    42. Did they give a due date? I showed early with my first also...just my body type. And more so with my 2nf.

      Delete
    43. 10:48. Someone who conceived 14 weeks ago would be considered 16 weeks pregnant. Weeks are counted starting at the last period, typically 2 weeks before conception.

      Delete
    44. Anon 3:17, my box is pretty big. My pregnancies, my sisters', friends', acquaintances'. I will amend what I said and state that MOST women, especially first time moms" rarely show during the first trimester unless there are multiples or an issue with amniotic fluid, although apparently most women on this blog plus the women they know are huge by then. Showing and REALLY SHOWING are too different things. Its expected not to be able to zip up tight pants and to have to wear looser clothes that still doesn't mean you have a huge bump. Joy has a huge bump for a pregnancy in the first trimester.

Also anon 6:20 am, can I just say that calling people jealous jerks" is rather rude and the opposite of giving people grace .

    1. Who are you to say what too young is? I had 2 children when I was her age and I wouldn't change that for anything. We were able to run and have fun with them. Try being encouraging.

    3. I agree, if they are not going to limit the anount of kids they have whats the rush in starting? She has the next 25 ys or so to have kids.

      Delete
    4. I was just about to say the same thing. I was thinking they should have waited, done some travelling, etc. before having any children.

      Delete
    5. I think we should be careful praising jinger for waiting. I mean what if she is wanting to have a baby and is having trouble and not "waiting" like everyone is assuming. She has said before that she wants a big family and it would be hurtful to read everyone saying they are glad she's not pregnant. Let's just be happy for joy!

    6. No, if this is a honeymoon baby she would be due in February.

      Delete
    7. Lol 10:34, I think you made another mistake with your math, she would probably be due about February 20th, if she got pregnant on her honey moon

    8. 10 or 11 months, 10:34? Well, maybe that's possible. Ask Jill.

      Delete
    9. Anon 1:19 PM, pregnancies are 10 months, 40 weeks, not 9 months like so many believe. Ask a labor nurse. My math was correct. :)

  10. She could be carrying twins which would explain there already being a "bump".

    ReplyDelete
  11. Congratulations! Everyone carries their babies differently. Also, twins run in the family, so you never know. I never showed that quickly with any of my four kids, but I had friends who looked just like her at 15 weeks. Happy for them and can't wait to hear more details. God is so good!! 😊

  15. To me, Joy seems to be built more like her mother than the other sisters. Having her first at 20, she could be the one to challenge her mother in number of children. I could be mistaken, but she is even younger than her mother was when she had Josh.

  17. It doesn't matter if it is a big baby or not at 16 weeks, the baby is small. She is pretty big for 16 weeks for a first child unless there are multiples. In any case, she is married now and a baby is a blessing. Congratulations.

  18. At least one Duggar daughter is using her head and enjoying her marriage first before babies.

    1. Yep so glad Jinger is getting to enjoy being a newly wed. She has said in the past that she isn't really into the whole 'baby thing' and doesn't like being around when anyone is giving birth. I can't see her and Jeremy wanting a huge family either, can see them with maybe two or three, either way the decision is theirs and theirs alone.

      Delete
    2. Jinger was talking only about watching people give birth, she said on the show while she and Jeremy were courting that she loves kids, and wants to have a large family. However, she and Jeremy also said after they got engaged that they hadn't talked about family size yet, so really they could have different opinions on family size. Either way, I think it's cool that they decided to wait, and I think it's cool that Joy andAustin decided to have a baby as soon as they got married, since it's what they WANTED. Neither of them should be shamed for their choices.

      Delete
    3. Does Austin have a job? I know they travel alot so not sure if he has a job. If not I hope he finds a steady job that he can be a blessing to his new wife and child like my Husband is to to me and my children. It's such a wonderful feeling to see my husband come in that door after a days work and watch the kids get so excited and run and hug him knowing he he works hard for us. I hope Joy has that too.

  21. My goodness I surely hope Jill is not Joy's midwife. Joy is so very young, and well, not very educated. She certainly is large so could be a twin pregnancy. I hope common sense and safety prevail for once with this Duggar baby.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. How insulting you are, shame on you. Would you like it if someone spoke about how "uneducated" you are as well? Unless you know Joy Anna personally and can personally vouch for her level of knowledge in life, you have no room to say such a nasty comment. You clearly don't really care about her, or who will be her midwife. If you were really sincere about caring for Joy, you would not insult her.

      Delete
    2. If it is a twin pregnancy then I hope she will seek medical care from a qualified OB/GYN. Twin pregnancies carry their own risks including premature delivery, so will require more freqient monitoring, it is also safer to deliver in a hospital.

      Delete
    3. Uneducated?!?! Take a look- only about 44% of Americans get a college degree. That means that she is just as educated as the average American, and more educated than at least 22% of Americans who don’t even get a high school degree. And if you’re referring to the method of schooling-homeschooling, think again. According to one study, they score 23-42 percentile points above those in public schools. https://www.hslda.org/docs/news/200908100.asp

      Delete
    4. I'm sure you are expressing your concerns and I have to agree with you in comparison to my own experience and others around me.
Joy needs proper monitoring and hopefully she receives more professional care than her sisters seek.
It's unfair to rush to hospital with no history and expect a perfect outcome. Were I lived during my child rearing years it was mandatory to have a doctor during the pregnancy despite having a personal choice of midwifery.
I don't believe you are being rude and you shouldn't be considered shameful. Your worries are probably based on watching her sisters choices.

    1. She is not further along than 3 months. If you have followed this Duggar blog and this family for years like most of us regualars have, you would know the Duggar family's morals and standards on how the children are raised and their beliefs about marriage and that they do not kiss or have any other physical affection before marriage.

  45. Austin said she would be 20 when the baby is born, so I take that to mean she is due in late fall (Nov-Dec).

    1. But she'll be 20 for a whole year. Can't figure out a due date from that "clue."

      Delete
    2. Well she will be 20 in October so Joy will be 20 from 0ctober 2017 to October 2018. Our birthdays are annual---we stay that age for a whole year.

    3. Joy Anna turns 20 Oct 2017. She will be having the baby next year, 2018.

  46. My sister showed when she was 3 months. I always looked fat until about 6 months (ha!). Everyone is different. I don't understand why people are so judgmental.

  48. i am so happy for them as this is something they have really wanted! joy is such a nurturing person and i'm sure will be a great mother. since it's obviously a 'honeymoon baby' there's no reason why she shouldn't be this 'big'. i was small & petite like joy-anna and was showing early for all my pregnancies and each baby was a pretty good size too! she looks fantastic and is thrilled so lets all be as happy for them as they are

  49. lily & ellie, i dont mean to take anything away from joy by asking this here but do you know if any of the duggars are going to texas? i remember seeing them go as first responders for i believe the joplin tornado and just wondered since so many of them have been trained as emt's, etc. and they guys have gone through the alert academy

  53. Does anyone else think Joy is expecting twins? They run in her family! Congratulations and greetings from Italy

    1. I don't know she could be, but just because twins run in your family it doesn't mean someone will have them. Twins run in my mom's family, but she didn't have any, and neither did her sister.

  57. What a great blessing that the Lord is giving them their heart's desire. They said right from the start that they will be happy for how ever many children they get. God bless them and watch over them.

    1. Why would you wish twins for someone else?

    2. I sure wouldn't wish them on a first-time mother who already said she is scared of childbirth pain.

  60. I'm s excited for them! How many weeks along is she?

    1. She probably will, but as long as she's gets to the hospital if there are any complications, it really doesn't matter. Jessa's second birth went well, and who knows, maybe she'll have a smaller baby

  63. I feel that hight has a lot to do with how people show when pregnant. I am 5 foot 9 but also quite tiny like Jinger. I could tell but to most I just looked a tiny bit heavier. My tummy stuck out from it's normal spot at 14-16 weeks and people I would run into me thinking I looked pregnant. On the other hand people I was just meeting had no idea. I mean I don't drink. Don't like it and am used to saying no thank you, but I was offered drinks way into my pregnancy at business events and dinners. I remember people being jealous, however, I said well Mum was a twin, my Uncles were triplets and we have at least 2 other sets so we shall see..... We did and I became giant right away. Every one is different.

  66. Anyone else find it interesting that they say they want as many children as God thinks they can handle, but Austin only has one sister? I know his family are religious but they obviously don't follow the quiverfull thing like the Duggars do. Just seems strange to me jmo.

  69. I honestly wonder if Ellie ever regrets having started a forum that gives so many the opportunity to post speculative and detrimental comments such as many of the ones posted above. No, I am not a "Duggar Fan"; I typically reserve judgement on becoming a "fan" or a "critic" of anyone I have not had the opportunity to personally meet and spend time with and I most definitely have yet to meet any member of the Duggar Family. I do however, like most people presented with or having access to public information, form opinions on certain situations. In this case, the only opinion I have is in the form of a question. What has happened to wishing a first time mom, or couple, a simple congratulations? What difference would it make in anyone's lives to find out that someone is two months pregnant, six months pregnant or even two weeks from delivery? Are there people who are so small minded that even if they were proven correct in their suspicions of ANY couple having engaged in pre marital sex, that they would find delight in being right? Have we, as consumers of media, become so consumed with people most of have never even met, and likely never will, that we will take to keyboards and jump at each and every opportunity to find fault with almost every aspect of their lives? I cannot help but form the opinion that witnessing fellow mothers dissecting and making assumptions in a moment that should be so full of happiness for another person, is a really sad indication of shallow and petty minds.
I visit this blog as well as Nashville Wife often, I love the recipes, tips and other content. Although I have never met Lily or Ellie and therefore don't know either one of them, I can't help but wonder how they feel when they read the comments that are so obviously written with an intent to cause conflict. I know if it were me, and I had create a blog featuring my friends, a blog I had poured my time and energy into, that was created as a means for the public to gain additional means of information on a celebrity family but instead was being used as a tool for inflicting pain or distress onto them, I probably would not be as full of grace towards my readers as they have been. Personally, I really don't care when, how or why that baby was conceived, or when it is due. I wish the same I hope for any child born into this world, I wish it love, safety, and good health. I wish the parents a happy and healthy pregnancy, free of any number of risks we all know can occur. I also wish for them a baby that sleeps and feeds well, lots of support and encouragement from family and friends and above all a safe labour and delivery. From one young parent to another, a huge Congratulations!

  73. I have to say that in certain parts of this country, women do start to have families at a very young age. I have family in WV and many girls there start having babies in their teens and early twenties. By the time they are in their late thirties or early forties, they are grandmothers. I was so shocked to find this out.

  74. I'm wondering how many posters here who were so rude to those guessing just a few days ago on this blog that Joy was pregnant (when she was wearing the same dress as pregnant Anna) are going to have the integrity now to apologize to their fellow posters for those remarks.
