Duggars at a Wedding

Jinger Vuolo and Jedidiah Duggar at the wedding

The Duggars attended a wedding yesterday, but it wasn't a Duggar wedding. Church friend Nawon married her sweetheart, Cole. Click here to view the video of the beautiful, God-honoring ceremony on YouTube.

If you look closely, you'll see some of the Duggars (including Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Jinger Vuolo, Joy and Austin Forsyth, and Jill and Derick Dillard) in the wedding party, on the video at the end, and in the audience. You'll also see Austin's sister Meagan and her husband.

  2. Why do they always wear those goofy suspenders at weddings? He has a belt on. Why does he need suspenders, too?

    1. I agree the combination of both looks just silly.

    2. He was in the wedding

    3. I think it's just the style, but you're right -- if you wear suspenders, you don't wear a belt.

    4. Everyone wears that at weddings know. Their is nothing wrong wearing suspenders and a belt it looks good.

    5. Jedidiah was actually in the wedding party. He's wearing the same exact outfit as the rest of the groomsmen so it's obvious that the bride and groom chose his outfit. I usually don't like suspenders on guys, but Jed looks very handsome in the photo with Jinger.

    7. Everyone doesnt wear suspenders to a wedding. My son recently got married and all the men wore tuxedos. I. Not saying that's a requirement, just stating a fact. Ive never seen this look at any wedding I've been to.

    1. It's the same as Ginger - they just kept the J theme with her name.

    2. Like Ginger, the spice. :)

    3. It's pronounced like ginger.

    4. If you watch the video, you can hear! I was saying it incorrectly too, but it sounds like "NAH-one"

    5. The question about name pronunciation was not for Jinger but for the bride lol

    6. It's pronounced NOW-en ☺

    7. Oh, haha, I thought you meant Jinger's name, but you meant the bride's name!

    8. Ohhh! Whoops, haha. I thought she meant Jinger.

  9. Jedidiah was also part of the wedding party. If you look he's dressed in the same outfit as the rest of the groomsmen. I believe he's the one who escorted Jinger in and out of the ceremony.

  10. Why didn't Derick have a tie on and shirt tucked?

    1. I think the wedding was casual attire, however the family all looked untidy and in everyday clothes. Even at a casual attire wedding I would make an effort to be smart casual, it is just polite to the bride and groom. The bride was beautiful, and Jinger was so pretty as always, loved the pastel colors of the bridesmaids.

    2. I noticed that, and Jill was wearing a very casual t-shirt type dress, too. It didn't seem like a very formal wedding.

I don't like weddings where the bride has the traditional long, full dress, but the rest of the bridal party (and the guests) are all dressed casually. The disparity looks too odd. If the bride wants casual, then she should dress that way, too. The bridal gown sets the fashion tone for the wedding. A big elegant ball gown should not be surrounded by a bridal party in clothes they could wear to go grocery shopping.

    3. How many men wear a bow tie, dress shirts and dress pants to go shopping? None of the bridal party looks like they are going shopping.

Brides don't dictate to everyone else what to wear to their wedding. I certainly didn't care what anyone who came to see my wedding wore.

    4. Agree, 8:54. These big Duggar weddings have had the girls dressed to the formal nines and the boys looking like they just pitched hay, or are about to. Except for those long lacy dresses, even their bridesmaid dresses were too informal and didn't coordinate with the bride enough in style.

10:20, of course the bride decides what kind of wedding it is - formal or informal - and then she should choose her dress accordingly. This summer, I got wedding invitations that said "semi-formal" and "black tie optional." I had figured that out anyway because of the venue and the time of day. One bride's father said they were afraid the younger people would show up in jeans, so they had to put some sort of clothing wording on the invite.

People have lost touch with what's appropriate these days and what isn't.

    5. "Just pitched hay or are about to" LOL! I too think suspenders are too informal for a wedding. They could have ditched the suspenders, put suit jackets on, and looked much nicer. And they would have matched the rest of the wedding party better.

    6. But this wasn't a Duggar wedding so it doesn't matter what anyone wore. I doubt that Cole and Nawon cared what people wore. They wanted their friends and family there to witness their special day.

    7. I think it's also related to the location. The point would be clear in California for example.
People's exposure to life and culture is not always the same. What the Duggars do or say works for them but not necessarily to others.

  11. I loved that!! And especially when Jill realized she was being recorded. Priceless. Just the look on her face and then she has to look one more time, to be sure. Derick, Michelle, and Jim Bob was oblivious to the camera. Then there was the guy sitting in front of Jill who saw it. And I think Josiah noticed it. It was funny. Kind of like a big brother moment.
I also love how Derick is a wonderful father. He immediately takes Samuel to burp him. It was kind of like a behind the scenes, hidden camera moment. You got to see how they truly interact with each other. Derick and Jill seem so loving. Love these guys! My heart goes out to them for all they have been going through. I hope they stay strong.

  12. Wow! That was lovely and the Duggars were very entertaining without even trying! Especially when at the beginning everyone stood up for the bride and Jill, Josiah, and the guy in front of her all look back at the SAME time, and looked as if they were spooked. Almost like a creepy movie. Like they could feel they were being watched or something. And Jill LOOKED creeped out too! That girl could truly be an actress because the looks she gave, gave me goose bumps. And I realize she wasn't acting, which made it so much more entertaining. It was so good to see her and the baby. He looks like a little pumpkin. So cute! It was worth watching, just to see him. And Derick is an awesome father. You can tell he likes to help with him. A true hands on dad! Thank you so much for sharing!

  16. When the video at the end of the ceremony began to play, I thought, "Wait, that music sounds familiar..." and then I realized, yes, in fact, it was some friends of mine, the Lodenkamp's and Nebblett's, playing! I would have had no idea that the person who created the video would have had that CD! It was an unexpected surprise! Small world it is!

    1. I was surprised they walked in with what is traditionally the hymn played on a sinking ship.

    2. I too thought Titanic! LOL

      Delete
    3. I was thinking about the sinking ship too! However, I think that hymn was around before "Titanic". There's another hymn in the movie called "For those in Peril By The Sea". Not sure if that is the title, but we sang it in church one Sunday and my sister and I look at each other and laughed a little having saw "Titanic"

      Delete
    4. Haha, I don't think more than one ship has had the "tradition" of playing that hymn while sinking.

    5. 1:06, that is "Eternal Father, Strong To Save," also known as the Navy Hymn. We sang it @ my F-I-L's funeral, since he was ex-Navy. My husband is also ex-Navy, so I am very familiar with this song and how sobering it is when played or sung under appropriate Naval circumstances. It usually brings me to tears!

      Delete
    6. No, 2:00, it was sung as the SS Valencia sunk in 1906.

      Delete
    7. Interesting, I didn't think of a sinking ship at all. I was thinking about God's love and care.

  17. Jinger is clearly not expecting. I wish every time she has a wrinkle in her clothes people would not shout, "BABY BUMP!". I think she and Jeremy have a very different plan for living out their faith than the Duggars.

    3. As far as I know, they plan to leave family size in God's hands. God's will for them is to wait to have children. They are respectfully accepting His will. I'm one of five couples who know all too well that leaving family size in God's hands may only mean one child, two children or to adopt one of each. Now we help other couples.
