Duggars in Scotland

Diane's favorite Duggar moment is the family's trip to Scotland...

I have always wanted to go [to Scotland] and saw it through their eyes. I loved the cameraman they used to have, an older gentleman that would play and teach the kids how to do the sound. Can't remember his name.

To watch a video of the Duggars in Scotland, check out our post from September 5, 2011. (Click here to view.)

  1. Any updates on the Vuolos in New Zealand after the huge earthquake? Praying for the people there.

  2. Great episode! They have a super way of spreading joy no matter what country they're in. I like Jim a lot too. The filming staff are really nice people.
Guess we'll still see family trips through the kids eyes now.

  3. My favorite part of that episode was when a big burly Scotsman tried to get jim bob to wear a kilt and said a real man will wears it. Another Scotsman replied, based on the size of this mans family he has already proved he is real man....
    Or something along those lines-
I've slept between now and the last time I saw that episode, lol!

    1. Yes, how can they justify being around men who wear kilts? How did they explain that to their kids? I'll bet TLC put everybody up to it just to get a reaction.

    2. The Duggars were PAID very well for a vacation most of us dream of. TLC hasn't put the Duggars up to anything.

    3. I think that person meant that once TLC gets them to places, they make the Duggars do goofy things on purpose, for our entertainment. Eat bugs, dress like a geisha, etc.

  5. I'm sorry, but we don't care about their old vacation.
    Just being honest.

    2. This blog is about favorite memories from individual fans. We're reliving past events and what they meant to us personally.
My favorite memory is how much less critical and judgemental this blog's fan responses used to be.

  6. I never understood why TLC paid for trips to Europe, Japan and China for all those people, including Mary Duggar and Amy? These scripted, all expenses paid trips, had nothing to do with how a FRUGAL overly large family lives day to day. Surely if TLC hadn't stepped in, this family have NEVER taken such a trip as they would never had the money to pay for it. Why do these unreal things?

    1. TLC probably wanted to show them in some element other than what they're used to, but I think it backfired. Jim Bob always made fun of the other cultures and tried to get the kids on board with that kind of thinking, too. I'll never forget how upset and embarrassed Michelle was when he misbehaved in England.

    2. My kids and I love those episodes. Gave us a chance to see parts of the world we may never see in person, and the episodes were loaded with local color. Nothing boring on those trips!

  7. A Duggar loss It is a VERY sad and emotional episode but it showed family togetherness and if you read the comments about it on YouTube nonchristians are saying that it was cool to see how the Duggars dealt with lose. How they wish that it would be that easy for them to deal with loss. Also paraphrasing " I am an atheist but I can see that the Duggars faith is helping them get through this I wish that I had faith like that" that is just POWERFUL!

    1. I have never heard an atheist say they wish they had "faith like that." Are you sure that remark wasn't sarcasm?

    2. It doesn't sound like sarcasm to me. It sounds earnest.

  8. Jim Goodwin is a boom operator - that is why he shows the kids how to record sound. A boom is pole that has a microphone attached to the end - he uses his arms to keep the boom held high over the heads of the Duggar Family. A camera man wouldn't really be seen on set wearing headphones.

  9. Looks like the guy in the first picture and Michelle both go to the same hairdresser.

  10. Is Mr. Jim still with them? I thought I had heard he left because of the Josh stuff. Or was that someone else who left?

  11. Mr. Jim is a true asset to TLC. So kind, so animated to bring out the best in everyone.
