Jana Duggar's Eye Makeup Tutorial

We know how much you all enjoy beauty videos from the Duggar gals! TLC just posted this eye makeup tutorial, in which Jana Duggar shows how she applies eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara, using Joy-Anna Duggar as a model. Do you wear eye makeup?

  1. Nice to see the tutorial I know many people probably enjoyed this! It would be nice to see a better view of finished product instead of a few second side view at end, but thank you again for it!

    1. Be nice. Most reality stars spend a lot of time getting glammed up.

  3. They must go through eye liner by the gallon or the case. They always have too much on!

    1. I agree with you 100%. It's too bad they think they have to use so much.

    2. Haha! Yeah, some of them do wear way too much.

    3. I personally thought it looked very nice!

  4. I grew up in the 70's and this how the girls were then. I guess not much has changed in that department. But I stopped wearing any eye make up now. These young ladies are hopefully Holy Spirit filled and Holy Spirit led.
Back in the day being a born again Holy Spirit filled believer was not something I knew about. But we 'went to Church sometimes'. But we also did a lot of the things that one should stop doing when born again. I guess the Holy Spirit doesn't stop a girl from wearing some makeup.

    1. Why would He? They are only trying to look their best. If they looked raggedy and slummy who would take them seriously? Looks do matter, proven fact. They are trying to minister to others and yes I do believe looking the part helps. At the end of the day, however, it is what is inside that counts. Looking good is only the first but important impression one can make. Looks do matter!!

    2. The Bible speaks against make-up. It's in Jeremiah.

      Delete
    3. I think you have misinterpreted Jeremiah 4:30. It's not saying women should not wear makeup. It's in the context of Isreal trying to make herself beautiful to become allies with other nations. I believe God is saying all her "prettying up" will not work. Her "allies--enemies of God--will turn against them as well. But.. I could be wrong. That's just how I read it.

    4. I'm sure that God doesn't care about makeup of skirts' lenght, to be honest. He's interested in what's in our hearts!

  6. Fashion and beauty are subjective. For them to wear it, it only matters that they like it. I actually really like their look, but I'd hate wearing skirts or dresses all the time! To each their own!

  7. I'm surprised Jim Bob lets them wear makeup before marriage. Does anyone know if they are allowed to get piercings such as ear piercings? Why are they suddenly posting these short clips - they must get paid $5,000 to $10,000 each I suppose.

  8. Can anyone tell what eyeliner she is using in this video?

  9. I can hear he talking but there's no video of her?

  10. Joy looks much better without makeup. She's got such a fresh look and they ruin it.

  11. Hi Jana love the way up do make up. I did notice where a few people thought it was to much eye liner looks fine to me. When your on T.V. They always use a lot it has to do with lighting. So I hope that help people understand my name is Nancy Love your shows.

  12. I do wear eye makeup but it's very minimal. Just a little bit of eyeliner and that's it. If I'm going to a party of some kind I'll put on some mascara.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Maybe it's cause I'm from the uk but I don't think it was to much eye liner

  14. I only were mascara and sometims eye shadow

  15. The Duggar girls have amazing style! They always apply a perfect amount of makeup to enhance but not take away from their natural beauty! <3

    2. Makeup tutorials from kids who aren't experts are more like a penny a dozen, not even a dime.

  17. I use the same amount of eyeliner daily. I thought it was pretty light. Especially the eyeshadow. I use brushes. It actually goes on darker with makeup brushes.

  18. As a woman who worked as a make-up artist for a while, I would like to say you should not apply make-up with your fingers. It can change the PH of the make-up or put bacteries on it. Also, it doesn't give a great result compared to make-up brushes.

  22. It's getting too difficult to log on to this website. Pop up advertising is all over the page and it takes too long to load and quit "jumping" around. Is this due to the website or to my computer doing it? Thank you, Lily and Ellie.

  23. All of the girls are beautiful! Thank you for sharing your routine.

  24. While the truth is the show would be sweeter with a gem like Jana, the truth is heavy eyeliner went out of style in the 1960s with Priscilla Presley's beehive hairdo.😉

  25. They are young and probably enjoy putting on makeup. The makeup only enhances their beauty. They both have pretty eyes and I do not feel either of those two girls wear too much eyeliner or mascara! Jana, you would make an awesome makeup artist!! Both of you gorgeous girls.

  26. Imagine if Jinger did a makeup video.. that girl wears way too much eyeliner. Jinger has nice eyes but her eyes look so black these days. Just my opinion

  27. It would of been better if they would of showed us Joys face for more than a second. Could barely see what she did! Seemed like Joy didn't want to be filmed.. thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I personally think it would look a lot better with only a thin layer on eyeliner and it still makes the eyes pop! They wear a lot if eyeliner. I do agree a crayon eyeliner is so much easier than liquid.

    ReplyDelete
  29. If the eyeliner was a little thinner and maybe just more mascara, it would of looked better

  30. Jana has such a gentle, meek spirit. Such a pleasant and mature young woman. Really enjoyed this!

  31. I like it please do more!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I've been waiting for something like this for years! I wonder who will do Jinger's makeup for her wedding? I am a freelance makeup artist and I would love to do hers and/or the others for free!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Eye shadow should really go on with a brush

    ReplyDelete
  34. Very pretty- before and after. And such nice young ladies!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Really isn't this something we see in the vanity world?? I tell you the duggers are conforming more and more to the worldly ways of reality tv. I would expect a makeup tutorial from the kardashians but the duggers? It's just making them look vain that they sont believe in natural beauty without caking on so much makeup.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Wear makeup or don't wear makeup, but it makes absolutely no sense that they would oppose hair coloring because it goes against how God made you yet would pile makeup on their faces each day. It's ridiculous logic.

    ReplyDelete

    1. They don't oppose hair coloring, not that I know of. I think Michelle had hers colored that time they took her for a birthday makeover. They've home permed themselves, too. What they don't do is cut their hair (much) because in their circles, it's the not thing to do (per some man's opinion).

  37. These girls have become like any other teens/twenties. They may go to church on Sunday, but the rest of the week the focus is on clothes, make-up, hair, shopping, manicures, coffee, tacos, phone calls, selfies, social media, and boys. And they get to do that in spades because they don't have to go to school, don't have to work, and are handed all the money they need for doing basically nothing but letting someone take their pictures. It's very telling, what they, their parents, and TLC choose to show us any more. Getting tired of seeing it. It's drivel.

    1. I completely agree with you and I am surprised this was put on.

    2. Could not agree more! These girls seem more worldly than me, and I'm not even a Christian.

      Delete
    3. If those things were all they did, I would agree. But remember, the camera shows just what they think will be most exciting to viewers. We are not seeing their entire lives.

      Delete
    4. Why do the girls go along with what "the camera" wants to show? They should put their collective feet down and say that's it, we're not acting silly for the cameras any more, here's who we really are, so show it. And if not, then we're not renewing our contracts. But you don't see them doing that, just all that other nonsense.

      Delete
    5. They don't "focus on makeup". In this video Jana said multiple times that she usually just does it quickly early in the morning. The routine is pretty basic!

      Delete
    6. I agree. As they have gotten more money and attention, they focus on shopping (i.e., JimBob's comment that Jinger has a shopping problem), makeup, manicures, selfies, social media, etc. What happened to talk of their faith or talk that wasn't superficial. I miss the old duggars!!! Maybe making so much money on TLC hasn't been a good thing. What does the bible say about money and putting the emphasis on these worldly things.

      Delete
    7. Those girls might think all that stuff is fascinating for their viewers to watch each week, but they don't realize how shallow it's making them look. We may as well be shadowing any other teenagers around the mall for an hour.

      Delete
  38. I was hard to see what Jana was doing because they were not facing the camera.

    ReplyDelete
  39. they do were do much eye liner.. especially Jinger. BUT they are still all so beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Pretty girls. A little too much eyeliner in my opinion, but they're lovely just the same. I personally don't like to wear makeup, especially if it has any fragrance.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nice for those younger to learn how to apply make-up. I hope the girls don't share eye makeup though. No matter how close they are that's just not sanitary.
Liner should outline and frame, not overwhelm for a clean day look.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think it looks awful. What is wrong with what God put on your face?Whoever invented eye makeup must have been ashamed of his or her looks.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The girls are all so pretty!

  45. Yessss! I am so happy to finally see this! I love the lifestyle videos you post. I always think Jana's makeup looks so good. She is a very beautiful woman!

    ReplyDelete
  46. The mascara is recognizable by the pink/green tube, but what specific kinds/brands of eye shadow and liner did she use?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I wear eye makeup but not a lot. I have blonde hair and as I've gotten older my eyelashes and brows have become real light. I put a little eye liner on my lower lashes and smudge it in to make my lashes appear fuller, mascara on top lashes to appear darker and an eyebrow pencil! I love an eyebrow pencil with dual eyebrow shadow, as it helps keeping me look washed out.

  48. She went through it way too fast.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Gosh that was uncomfortable. Why must TLC push Jana in front of the camera, she clearly doesn't enjoy it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. do they do anything else but make up and clothes? can we see them do real things? there show is so fake and has no points to anything?

    ReplyDelete
  51. God created you to look how He wanted you to look. If it's good and pleasing to God, then it's good enough for me. I don't understand the infatuation with wearing makeup. I admit that I used to wear it also. Now, after becoming a follower of Christ, I don't see a face to cover up to meet the worlds beauty standards. I see a face God hand crafted for me.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thank you, that was well said.

      Delete
    2. Because makeup is meant to enhance Gods beauty - not cover it and transform your face into something it isn't. I think light makeup is beautiful, but eyeliner that makes you look like a raccoon, or blush that makes you look harsh, and foundation like a China doll, or lipstick as red as Snow White is too much.

      Delete
    3. Make up isn't a coverup.

      Delete
  52. Be nice! Most girl use eye liner this days. And it don't look bad on them.

    ReplyDelete
  53. What is it with all the Duggar girls and their "jail" striped clothes?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Why was she using her fingers to put on the shadow? A professional make up artist would have a heyday critiquing this tutorial. The girls should look at some of the YouTube videos to show the a little more expertise.Jinger really needs brown eyeliner instead of stark black, its way to harsh, i hope she dials it down some on her wedding day and or have a professional do it like most do.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Agreed. Fingers spread bacteria, and the black on Jinger's eyes is too harsh.

      Delete
    2. Why are you commenting about jinger, if she isn't even in the video?

      Delete
    3. I take back my original comment at 4:06 am.I shouldn't have commented negatively about Jinger when this post wasn't even about her, if she likes her eyes that way and Jeremy must love her that way too, then it's none of my buisness. It doesn't change this lovely girl and who she is on the inside, shame on me to judge, i was being very hypocritical, I always complain about others who do that and then I did the very same thing,😮 I apologize to you Jinger and her fans.✌

    4. Anonymous at 6:39, don't worry, we all have our moments, but it's good that you apologized.

  55. I have a hard time doing waves and was wondering, could you also do a tutorial of how Jessa does her waves showing the hair products, whether she has a perm or not? Also could you do one of their whole makeup routines that they actually do? I enjoy all these tutorials of these beautiful ladies that live their lives for Jesus!!

  56. I'm a makeup wearing Christian but I use it to hide imperfections like spots, black under eyes etc .... Makeup can be used in two ways to attract or to tidy ones face up - God didn't create imperfections and we live in a fallen world. I don't wear eye liner just skin tone eye shadow and mascara. In our family the eye liner is known as 'bats wings' (thanks to my bro age 7 at time) ....i personally don't think it's very natural as God didn't give a woman 'bats wings'.... Something I'm always very grateful for as the one time I did try to wear the stuff in my early teans my Dad asked who had punched me in school 😆😆😆😆 this is one of those areas of personal preference though and I for one don't like heavy makeup!

  57. All those negative comments... just people who are bored and people who have nothing better to do. I also use eye make-up! I don´t use eyeliner, I only use mascara and sometimes I use eyeshadow.

  58. Make up advice from them???? Since when is it recommended to use your finger instead of a make up brush. Applicators are included in eye shadow packages for a reason.
