Dillards to Serve with S.O.S.

Derick Dillard, Jill Dillard, and Israel Dillard in Central America, 2015
Upon returning to Central America in mid October, Jill and Derick Dillard spent several weeks studying Spanish in a Guatemalan city. Their education has prepared them to take the next step.

S.O.S.--which stands for Seekers of Souls and is the ministry that the Duggars have partnered with during their many trips to Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala--has recently added Jill and Derick to its team. (Click here to view more pictures of the Dillards in Central America.)

Here is a segment from the most recent S.O.S. newsletter:

Jill Duggar serves in El Salvador, 2008
It is SOS's privilege to introduce Derick and Jill Dillard to the Latin mission. They will come alongside Alex Lara, our Director of Missions for Latin America, to assist, preach, and engage the new regions. We have prepared, trained and now appointed them. Derick will focus on the men and young people, while Jill will focus on women and children ministry. Both of them will help with strengthening and encouraging married couples, which is mostly neglected in the Latin world, and they have already led a group from the church to a new region to preach the gospel.

During part of their first mission assignment, Jill and Derick will be joined by Levi Schadt, son of S.O.S. Ministries founder Mike Schadt.

We know that the Dillards and Levi would appreciate your prayers. To financially support their work and the work of many others in the Americas, Africa, and mid-Asia, visit SOSHope.org.

  1. Does this mean they have stopped asking for donations to Dillard Family Ministries.

  3. There are other places to go that could use Christian missionaries more, such as Africa or China. Most people in Latin America are already Christians. Look at the data.

    1. It's about going to or staying in the place where God leads. It's not about statistics.

    2. Data doesn't prove they have the gospel and a true relationship with Jesus. Checking a box that marks you as a Christian is completely different then being a true flower of Jesus. Kill and Derrick..may you share the gospel of Jesus with those He puts in your path. Run the race.

  10. I remember older episodes of Jill loving doing missionary work when she went with the Duggar family. She started learning Spanish she cried because she was so sad to leave this young girl when she went. This has been her passion for years now.How dare people accuse them of not doing what they are supposed to.I am so sick of people bashing the Duggars because of what one person did!Poor Jill I can't imagine how she felt when that came out right after she had a baby!Having a newborn is hard enough!Anyone who is bashing them I think is evil! The Duggars have helped so many people around the world!Shame on that woman who let those reports to the magazine! She should have to answer for what she did! That is not right! My heart goes out to this family.I have never seen people being treated so unfairly in my life! The parents did all that they could.I think they did a good job!

  13. Your family is so beautiful and does so much for the world. Thank you for sharing your gift.

I was raised as a Mormon and I understand the scrutiny you are put under and the judgment passed. Just know there are people who pray for you all every day. You are raising strong sons and daughters and how wonderfully and graciously you have walked through your trial. Anna included. Thank you. Holding you in prayer as God holds you in His heart.

  16. The Dullards are a great example of God's love for others. I pray that they are able to continue this great work with no problem. Love seeing young people going out in the world and doing something with themselves.

    1. Piper, they are perfectly safe. They will be in the tourist part of town with several conveinances such as running water, electricity and such. Thier wifi will be limited due to lack of cell phone towers. But rest assured the Dillard's will be perfectly safe!

    5. Now the people who accuse her of vacationing over there can see this has been her passion for almost ten years now.I remember from old episodes! She used to bawl her eyes out on those mission trips!

  18. Our family took a mission trip to San Antonio Lapaz and Guatemala City in 2007 to help with building a church and vacation bible school. Really opens your eyes and gives you a love for people that can't be explained. Love your family's passion to serve the Lord in the field He has for you. May the Lord continue to bless you.
    John 4:35(KJV)
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

  21. How about the fact they and the SOS ministries insulted the entire Latin community by saying "marriages are mostly neglected in the Latin world." Interesting considering the divorce rate is much lower than in the U.S. The Latin community is very family oriented--with a strong value system rooted in their Catholic faith and marriage.

  22. It may not seem like the safest place to take a baby, but remember… when you're doing God's will, that's the absolutely safest place to be.

  23. I don't understand why TLC cancelled the show. The family isn't responsible for negative actions of one family member. The humiliation is beyond enough punishment for the entire family. I don't agree with all of their beliefs or practices, and would never encourage a woman to be dependent on a man, by starting a family before she can provide for herself. It's unfortunate that TLC doesn't understand the dynamics of illness and how others could learn by seeing how the Duggers rise above being a victim of society. Many people are abused emotionally, physically, and sexually on a daily basis. It's an awful experience abd I can't imagine how awful the family must feel in continued suffering for loss of income. How about bringing the family back? Does TLC not understand other perpetrators who are struggling with their disease might learn from Josh? The show being cancelled doesn't make sense. Corruption and sin exhists everywhere and especially in religion. Removing the family solves nothing, it just adds to the children's suffering. Sad indeed..

    1. Its because the associated brand is now damaged. But I do agree it is not far to others in their family who have done nothing to deserve such scrutiny

    1. If the world was more like you Jill and Derek, there would be far less killing and wars and far less starving people especially the children!! Your parents must be so proud of you and deserving so!! I wish I could be a quarter of the person you both are!! Keep up the good work, I know GOD is working with you!! I love you both so much and the family , I hate that they canceled the show from millions of people who loved it and learned about GOD and love and family just for one persons mistake. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH AND KEEP THE THREE OF YOU SAFE!!! DOROTHY MACRAE
