Dillards' Farewell: More Pics

Here are a few more snapshots of the Dillards' emotional farewell. After an extended visit with family in Arkansas, they returned to Central America over the weekend. Tears were shed as each Duggar showered them with hugs. More photos available on the Dillards' website.

  10. I love the way everyone is trying to get in as much "Israel-time" as they can before they have to say goodby. Israel looks so cute and fun. He has the greatest group of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who, I am sure, will be looking forward to seeing him again!

  26. I am happy to see the Dillard's going back to the mission fields! I think it is great that ms Kathy was able to go with them too! I know they said they won't be back until summer time briefly but I have a feeling Jill will want to help deliver jessas baby!
If they do stay for an extended time period though , what types of missionary work are the Dillard's going to do? Will they help provide clean water, food, clothing and shelter? Will they teach the people how to be self sustainable with thier crops? When I think of missionaries I think of oeople who do these types of things in addition to spreading the gospel to those who have never heard it before. Will jill and Derrick be doing anything else other than prostelyzibg to Catholics and learning Spanish while in Central America?

    1. Your comment reflects your personal criteria for missionary service, a criteria which may or may not be appropriate for the people they will be working with. Why don't you just let them serve in whatever capacity they have opted to serve. Why so critical? I just don't get it.

    2. I'm interested in the answers to these questions as well. As a Catholic, I would hope that the Dillards are not trying to convert anyone, because we as Catholics are already Christian and know the gospel and God's grace as well! Blessings :)

    3. My personal criteria for a missionary is pretty much the same as a majority of the pollution. Missionaries serve others in need and show others the love of Christ through how they treat others- with love and a servants heart. To my understanding, the place where the Dillard's are going is a very poor area in desperate need of the basics such as clean water, food and shelter. How is converting those who already have a religious belief serving anybody? I'm not being critical, and I feel these questions are legitimate. And while I'm asking questions-why haven't the Dillard's made it known on their missionary website where thier donations are going and how they will be used? I know most missionaries live off donations and that totally fine if they are. Most missionaries do but most non profit organizations are required by law to state thier purpose and how the funds are being used to help serve others.

  27. Thanks for sharing these events. Love the pictures. So nice to see Anna. She does look great. Jim Bob, it looks like you lost some weight. I'm sure it's difficult for the family to say good bye again to Jill, Derrick and Israel. Will be praying for their language classes and for the whole Duggar family, what God has in store for you all. Was hoping to hear about Jim Bob and Michelle's time at the family camp retreat this last weekend. And praying we will be able to see all the Duggars on TV again.
    His Blessings,
    Sandy B.

  29. I'm so happy to see Anna again! She looks happy and peaceful. I hope Josh will get all the help he needs to become the husband Anna deserves. I hope and pray that they will come out of this stronger in the Lord and as a family. We serve a great and mighty God and with Him nothing is impossible.

  34. So good to see Anna again after praying for her and Josh. I came across this song that speaks to me and thought it also could bless them....

    Broken Together

What do you think about when you look at me?
I know we’re not the fairytale you dreamed we’d be
You wore the veil, you walked the aisle, you took my hand
And we dove into a mystery

How I wish we could go back to simpler times
Before all our scars and all our secrets were in the light
Now on this hallowed ground, we’ve drawn the battle lines
Will we make it through the night?

It’s going to take much more than promises this time
Only God can change our minds

Maybe you and I were never meant to be complete
Could we just be broken together?
If you can bring your shattered dreams and I’ll bring mine
Could healing still be spoken and save us?
The only way we'll last forever is broken together

How it must have been so lonely by my side
We were building kingdoms and chasing dreams and left love behind
I’m praying God will help our broken hearts align
And we won’t give up the fight

  35. The IRS requires that the non-profits state their purpose and how the funds are used. Every time we turn around, someone else is bashing the Duggars. They haven't had an easy time of it this summer. No matter what they do, they are going to be booed, hissed, criticized. I am 100% in support for what they have done. There is no doubt in my mind that they have paid for the trips back and forth as they need to. I'm sure that Jill's test was scheduled before they decided to go on the missionary trip. They had to come back. They knew going down the would need to come back for Michaela's wedding and Amy's wedding. When Derek asked Jim Bob for Jill's hand in marriage Derek told Jim Bob he had savings. I can't understand why anything more than that is our business. Would you go up to your minister and ask him how he spends his salary? I wouldn't and my minister is a priest. They are allowed privacy just like everyone else!

    1. The Dillard's have never made a statement about how thier funds are being used. To a lot of folks this looks pretty shady, especially eith all the trips back and forth and them taking family members and friends back and forth as well. I have no doubts the Dillard's have the best intentions to serve a mission. I just don't think they planned very well or thought things through. If they are willing to broadcast thier life on TV they are opening the doors to criticism. And unfortunately no matter what choices they make there will always be the negative nay Sayers. Perhaps they should start leading a life in private away from the cameras and social media and truly serve The Lord without broadcasting every move. They can still live a life serving The Lord and others privately and make a huge impact in the world. They have good intentions.

  37. #40 seems to imply that Anna is to blame for some of this. That is not the case.

  38. I agree. Anna cannot be drug through the muck and mire that Josh CHOSE instead of faithfulness and commitment to Anna & their beautiful, trusting, innocent children!
Josh has a chance to earn it all back, starting a new chapter - only because of Anna's loving, forgiving heart and the endless grace & mercy of our Lord!

People make mistakes, but it's only when they keep on living those lies that they eventually find themselves crushed and alone. . . . May our loving, faithful Heavenly Father bless this family with the second chance they need. May Josh allow the Holy Spirit to guide & direct his thoughts, his actions, and his desires!

  39. I do find it odd that derrick does appear to now have braces which will need frequent appts. I don't know how they can accomplish that in a remote setting if thats what they are doing but I wish them a safe and fulfilling journey. As for the funds if you give with a pure heart it doesn't matter whether they use it the way you see fit or not. You either have to trust they are doing the amount of mission work you expect or don't give.

  40. I am #40 and am sorry if it seemed to cast blame on Anna. That was not my intent, only that when we find ourselves in the midst of a broken situation, God is the one to look to. I meant only to encourage trust in our great God who can work miracles of healing in even the most broken of hearts, whether broken by sin or broken by being sinned against. I thought the song was beautiful because it spoke of a marriage that, though shattered, was looking to find their hope in God. I trust to yet see Josh restored to God and his family by God's grace.
