Baby Quincy Coming Soon!

Jessa (Duggar) Seewald at 36 weeks, 4 days

Baby Seewald, whom Jessa and Ben Seewald have nicknamed "Quincy," is due in less than four weeks. The couple has not announced the gender to the public, but have they told their families? Are they planning to choose a name theme for Quincy and their future children? Scroll down to read Jessa's responses from our chat with her.

Have you announced the baby's gender to your families?
Jessa: Ben and I had an ultrasound at 19 weeks to find out our baby’s gender. Ben was okay with keeping it a surprise, but I just couldn’t wait. I had to know! We decided at that point that we would keep it to ourselves and let it be a surprise for the rest of the Seewald and Duggar extended families when the baby is born. So far we haven’t told anyone…but I didn’t expect it to be so difficult to keep a secret. I always want to use pronouns like “he/she” in conversation but have had to focus on saying “the baby” instead. We’re so looking forward to baby’s birth and the big reveal!

**Jessa will be the first of her siblings to keep her child's gender a secret until he or she is born. Josh and Anna Duggar (parents of four), as well as Jill and Derick Dillard (parents of one), planned big reveals months before their babies were due. Josh and Anna also released the name of their first child, Mackynzie Renee, before her arrival.

Are you planning to do a name theme?
Jessa: When we first found out that we were expecting a baby, Ben and I were talking about a letter theme for our kids and Ben suggested, “Why don’t we go with the letter ‘Q’?” lol! Of course that was a joke, but from that point, Ben started calling our little one “Quincy," and the nickname just sorta stuck.

Seriously though, we have talked about it, and we’re not planning to go with a specific letter theme. But we like the idea of using names with lots of meaning behind them, such as names of people who have been great heroes of the Christian faith. And we like the idea of incorporating family names as well. We have been asking our siblings to give name suggestions for both a boy and a girl, and it’s been fun to hear their ideas. Who knows? Maybe we’ll go with one of their suggestions!

    1. I'm thinking the same....from the photo it appears that the baby has dropped and is already engaged... which means she's likely already started dialating a bit. I think Jessa should plan on delivering as early as 37/38 weeks.

  5. Since I can't have kids, you should use one of my chosen names. :) Patrick, named after "St. Patrick", missionary to the Irish and Samuel -- both heroes who responded to God's call.

  6. I had given 2 names earlier. But thought I would post them here. For a girl Brea Dannielle. For a boy Joshua Alexander. Those would have been the names I would have used, but a baby was not in our future at the time.

  13. So excited to meet Ben and Jess at Women's conference in Jacksonville Fl. next weekend. Pray she can make it with it being so close to her due date. Also excited about seeing her and Jill back on television but very disappointed it will be on TLC and that the rest of the family will not be featured. Can't understand why - they did NOTHING wrong. My family loves and miss ALL the Duggars!

  24. I think it's wonderful what you and your family are doing-focusing on family, faith, and happiness, as well as staying away from certain behaviors that could be seen as sinful. I have watched every one of your shows, read almost all of your books( except for the last one) and I think your family is amazing!!!!!!!! I wish that 19 kids and counting could come back on television because it really teaches people how a family should live, act, and behave!!!!!!!!!! The Duggar family is amazing!!!!!!! Also I'm exactly 2 days older than jessa and the fifth child too!

  33. I like that she's keeping the sex of the baby secret as a surprise, even for her family! I think it's a boy !

  34. For a girl name you could do Laney or Laney Elizabeth. For a boy Garrett.

  36. How wonderful, I wanted to keep our fourth child's gender a secret but I just couldn't take it anymore and finally gave in to telling friends and family as well, I can't wait to see if this precious baby is a boy or girl!!

  37. Jessa looks wonderful! I think she'll make a wonderful mother. She is so incredibly blessed to have such a huge support system. How is Anna Duggar? There are rumors floating around the internet, and I don't want to just believe what is out there. That's why I'm asking on here.

  41. I wish Jessa would give us a list of names she is considering. Make it a fairly good size list and have the baby's name included and have her fans guess which one it will be.Then she could eliminate a name every few days or one or so a week until up to the baby is born and the final name is there. It would really get her fans involved.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Also if Jessa gave us a list, she could include both boys and girls names so that the gender will stay a surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Deuteronomy Seewald? Wow, that's a mouthful.

    ReplyDelete
  44. People, Quincy is just a nickname like baby dilly when Jill was pregnant. O.K it's NOT the name!
    We'll find out soon enough!

  45. @anonymous Garrett is Joseph Duggar's middle name. So they probably will chose something else

  54. You make pregnancy look good :D I was a 'barn' lol. I never knew what I was having until they were born so we always had a boy's name and a girl's name. I like the name you been using if you have a boy that would be adorable along with a 'family member name' or a 'Christian name'. Your sister had a big baby and hard labor. I pray that yours will go smoothly and that both of you will be healthy and with no complications. PS: It is the middle name of John Quincy Adams, the sixth U.S. President, who was named for his mother's maternal grandfather, Colonel John Quincy, after whom Quincy, Massachusetts, is named. John Quincy Adams pronounced his name Quin-zee. The shortened version is Quinn. I have a friend who's daughter-in-law is called Kwin. I found out that Quincy, Qwin...can be either boy or girl name so all you need now is will it be the middle name or first name...lol. Naming a child isn't easy but when I saw my child for the first time I knew what the name should be. God bless you both richly. Quinby is a cute variant of your name too :D (Quinci, Quincie) Here is a link that has some 'suggested' middle names: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080925204345AARyrJI and here is one with some 'girl' suggestions but not as many: http://nameberry.com/nametalk/threads/69807-Help-with-a-middle-name-for-Quincy/page2 - I like Kwin (I hope I spelled that right, you can always check with Nate Yeske on his FB pg which I listed below..he would be a great person for you 2 to hook up with because you are all so passionate about your family and youth and your faith) because it is a name of a wonderful wife of a friend's son (he is a youth paster in Atlanta)... https://www.facebook.com/nateyeske?fref=ts. They both love the lord and are involved with the church (they have 2 wonderful little kids too). I hope you get to read this because I believe you will be having such a wonderful life (and I don't mean because of you new tv show which I will be watching).
