Jill and Jessa on FOX

Here is the first batch of quotes from Megyn Kelly's interview with Jill Duggar Dillard and Jessa Duggar Seewald:
  • Jill, 24, and Jessa, 22, join Megyn Kelly on The Kelly File to set the record straight about what happened in their family in 2002 and 2003.
  • When this incident occurred, Jill was 12, and Jessa was about 10. "We didn't choose to come out and tell our story," says Jill. "This wouldn't have been our first choice." But Jill and Jessa say they want to clear up the information that is circulating about their family, which they say is mostly untrue.
  • "I do want to speak up in [Josh's] defense," says Jessa. "In Josh's case, he was a boy, a young boy in puberty, and a little too curious about girls. And he made some bad choices. But really, the extent of it was mild, inappropriate touching."
  • Jill and Jessa say none of the victims knew what Josh had done until Josh confessed to his parents. They were too young to understand what had happened, and some had been sleeping when it had happened.
  • Jill says she was sad and shocked when her parents sat her down and told her what had happened. Then, Josh asked each sister for forgiveness, individually. It was each girl's decision whether they wanted to forgive, and they chose to.
  • Not long after, Jim Bob and Michelle sent Josh away. The girls say they were sad to see their older brother leave.

  1. Duggars i love your show and i hope that TLC brings you all back. i believe whats past is past now lets move on. I do not think it is a good idea to put Josh on the show anymore. Best of luck to you all.

  2. my prayers continue for this family! I love your show and would love to meet your whole family! please know you are in my thoughts and prayers and may you come out of this even stronger!

  3. Just want to let you know that there are many of us out here who can sympathize with what you are going through. We've had something similar happen in our family but God got us through it. We will be praying for you and your family that all you're going through will eventually bring honor and glory to the Lord and perhaps help other families too. May God give you strength and wisdom in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you for your Christian testimony through all of this!

  4. I am sorry that your family is going through such a difficulty time of media persecution over the long ago actions of a young boy. It is obvious that Mr. and Mrs. Duggar took appropriate actions to handle the situation and you all came through it together. I am sure you will come through this storm too.

  6. Way to go girls!! I was so proud of you. Love your family and hope to see you again on TLC

  7. I think you are being unfairly treated, as you say he was only 14 and beginning puberty, Please leave these people the Duggers alone and let them back on the show, it was a great family show and more people should live their lives like them

  8. Thank you, Ms. KelIy for giving a fair and balanced interview! I am so proud of Jessa and Jill.

All of the individuals involved in releasing the information, along with In Touch magazine should be held accountable. The woman on the View (a show I never watch), along with all of the other talk show hosts who went out of their way to condemn this family, and the victims, owes the girls an apology. You have victimized them and crucified them far beyond what any human deserves. By the way, it is none of your business how many kids they have.

TLC, bring this sweet family back!

Christians do not believe they are "holier than thou" people. As a Christian, I am not a perfect person, in fact I am usually a mess...I do not think I am better than anyone else...I simply believe that I am saved by the Grace of a Merciful Savior.

  9. Jill and Jessa are extremely articulate! They did a phenomenal job of answering questions with intelligence and composure.

  10. All I want to say is our family loves ALL of you and are praying for you. You handled the situation admirably, even more so than I believe most families would have. My heart is broken for all of you, including Josh. Please let him know that he is still very loved by his fans/brothers and sisters in the Lord, as all of you are.
    In His love,

  11. I feel the parents did the right thing, anybody out there put yourself in their shoes. What would you have done? Josh maned up to his inappropriate behavior he didn't have to and no one would of been the wiser. only he would of had to carry it for the rest of his life. I say Josh you did yourself proud for owning up, it takes a big man to do that.

  12. I was just wondering how they would handle if someone in the family, like maybe a younger brother did the exact same thing to one of their children,I'm all for forgivnness and grew up in a Christian home,I just feel he should have and they should of gotten more help, there are people that don't realize that they were molested until adulthood, and myself being have had something's happen to my as a teen on two separate accounts, and from experience it can just sneak up on you anytim or anything can bring it out,it's just sad that they have to be victimized like this!

Those poor girls. This couldn't happen at a worse time, when Jill is still just a new Mom and Jessa is expecting her first child. It's a new, exciting life that was just starting for both of them and now, their memories will be tarnished with this. I can't even imagine what Josh's wife must be through, expecting their 4th child at the beginning of July. I hope & pray that she will have a safe delivery and her baby will be healthy in spite of all the stress she must be going through right now. With her husband out of a job, they will no doubt have to sell their new home in Washington and move back to Arkansas. No woman in the last stages of her pregnancy should have to go through this, it's too dangerous. This family needs PRAYER folks, lots & lots of prayer.

  15. This is so sad and so blown out of proportion too. Josh was a teenager. What he did was very wrong. His parents sought the help they needed and took the right actions. Now for this to resurface is crazy. Its hurting the family and people are money hungry to keep reporting what happened years ago. I feel sorry for Jill and Jessa. Its so unfair to have to live with all these negativity going on. Its great that Michelle and Jim Bob are setting the record straight.
They are a wholesome family who should be left alone Let them go on and let the publicity stop. Its enough already.
Let the show air again because only one person did wrong and that was Josh. Why should the whole family have to be punished? If they feel Josh should not be in the show for the time being so be it. Seeing Jessa and Jill get married was great. I enjoy the show. I want the show to continue.
TLC has shows on the air that are awful. They are allowed to stay on. Fair is fair. Let the show continue TLC. The Duggars took the appropriate action.

  16. My heart is breaking for you whole family. God has a plan and a purpose for this malicious attack on your family, and while it may be hard to see, God will overcome and rise above all of this. Know that you do have supporters and our loved.

  17. None of us can cast the first stone. God has forgiven him. You are a great family

  18. I agree with what the girls said. Jessa brought out the fact that Josh was a 14 year old boy that was curious and it got him in trouble. Josh is not a child molester or the other things people are saying. People who are not Christian will never understand what forgiveness is all about. I admire this family for their values. Others want to tear down their values and make accusations they know nothing about. It has been a very hard time on the girls with all the hyped media coverage and they are so eager to tear down this family, but this family knows what forgiveness is all about. They serve a risen Saviour. I pray that they will be able to get through these dark days and the media will leave them alone. I do hope they will prosecute the people who gave out this information.

  19. Leave the Duggers alone. The only reason all this is happing is because they are Christians. The family dealth with this (he was a minor) he told his parents and they did the right thing. At this age it was a family problem. This family don't deserve this. Look within your self and see if you are perfect. God forgave Josh when he ask forgiveness. All these people that are casting stones need to realize they are sinners also. He is forgiven when he confess to Jesus how about you ?

  20. Good interview, shows a lot about these woman's character. However everyone will just say the are brain washed because all the public want is to see this family burn. At the end of the day the Duggars will thrive .

  22. It's heartening to see all the support here for the family and I totally agree that the show should continue to be on. If you feel that way, go after TLC. Tell them that's what you want. Get your friends that love the show to send them messages too! I know there are enough people out there that could turn this around. They said the ratings for the last season for Jessa and Ben's wedding and Jill & Derrick's baby arriving were the highest that TLC has ever had. So if all those people sent messages, maybe it could influence the network to get the show back on. I'm writing as much as I can and I'm putting as many messages as I can against the haters. Please try and do the same if you can! We need to prove that good people like the Duggar family do come through.

  23. MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!!!! I LOVE YOUR SHOW AND ALL YOUR FAMILY AS WELL....YOUR PARENTS ARE RAISING YOUR FAMILY IN A BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN WAY AND WE NEED MORE OF THAT....GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND HUGS AND LOVES....

  24. Key in this interview is the fact that all involved received licensed counseling. This has been one of the arguments that I have heard from the naysayers is that those girls did not get any help. Until two weeks ago they did get help. Now they have been damaged by this circus of media attention. Let this pass. If TLC doesn't bring them back, they will thrive, however, it will be a tremendous loss to viewers as they set such a great family model for others. No they are not perfect, but yet demonstrate a better way of life and raising children.

  25. Jill and Jessa, you both were very brave in your interview. The world may choose to hate your family for being Christians, but I truly appreciate your family for living out your faith in such a beautiful way.
John 15:18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first."
It is hard to understand why your family has to go through this, but I know that God will use it for good.
Stay strong and know that you have brothers and sisters in Christ that are praying for your family.

  26. I'm a liberal. I love our President and our country. I love the Duggar family. I don't agree with their stance on LGBT's. I probably don't agree with them on many issues but that's what being a human being is about. I get to disagree but I also get to respect their beliefs. I refuse to pass judgement on this family. I honestly can't say how, as a parent, I would have acted/reacted. I do think that I also, would have made the same decisions that they made. Josh was a young prepubescent boy and I, as the parent of 4 boys, understand a young man's curiosity. I also understand that good children make poor choices. I hope TLC keeps airing episodes. At the very least it teaches us that all families have issues. At the best, it will teach all, including the Duggars, not to judge.

  27. We need to focus the attention to the police chief, Kathy O'Kelley!!!

Ms. O'Kelley is the true criminal here! She needs to be immediately fired, prosecuted and NOT receive her pension.

The tabloids need to research Ms. O'Kelley's personal life and publish all of her mistakes she made!!!

To penalize under age children who were supposed to be protected is ridiculous. The media has it all wrong. I urge each of you to sign a petition to STOP Ms. O'Kelley from receiving any compensation from being a police chief. She needs to be prosecuted immediately. !!!!!

  34. PLEASE stop the attacks on the Duggar family and look at the real problem!! Ms. O'Kelley!!

Start a petition TODAY to ensure that Ms. O'Kelley receives the penalty she deserves for her actions.

Ms. O'Kelley should NOT receive her pension that the people of Arkansas have funded. She is the criminal for releasing sealed records to a tabloid.

The news media outlets are focusing on the wrong people. Leave the DUGGARs alone, they did the best they knew how with the situation dealt to their family!

All of us have made mistakes forgive and forget!

However having a police chief intentionally release sealed records of a juvenile is the true crime!!

  35. I am humbly and sadly sorry for what your entire family is having to go through for something that happened such a long time ago. I hate that our world sees everything so black & white when we should be seeing through the eyes of Jesus. You have all been on my heart and in my prayers. We had a situation that took ace over 15 years ago that devastated our family. We learned through the love of our God and His abundance of mercy and grace we were going to make it and be stronger for it. We also found our our family had a very big faith and that forgiveness was just that....forgiveness. If we have the love of God in our hearts we can't help but to forgive and once you forgive you move on and don't go back to the past. If everyone could just do that, "hate the sin and love the sinner." Duggar family stay strong love each other and everything will be fine. God's in control and He has this!! Love in Christ and the best is yet to come, Kara J Channell - Russellville, AL

  48. Leave this poor family alone! They've been through enough. The media blows everything out of proportion. As long as TLC got their ratings it was all good. But as soon as this happened they were dropped like a hot rock and then the fireworks started to fly with the media.I don't know if your show will come back or not but I want to thank you for all the joy you brought me weekly from viewing your show and god bless.

  49. Leave the Duggars alone!!! I am praying for them and may GOD have mearcy on the people who are judging them it is not fair. Wake up people , Jesus died to forgive our sins, Josh more than paid for his wrong, and he was just a child still himself. The media is picking on them because they are such devout Christians. What that woman did releasing the old information was apauling and unforgiveable. She should be sent to jail, for exposing records on minors. Bring back the show. I love all of you Duggar family, you are an ispiration to me and everyone, God will get you through this. GOD BLESS!!!!

  51. Dear Duggar I know some of what you are going through. My oldest son Josh did the same thing and he was away from us for about 5 years. We would see him every Sunday and at counseling. We also had couselers come to the house to work with my husband and I and our other 2 children. Now he is a Marine and is in school at MP school. Then he wants to be a State Trooper so he can give back. So proud of him.

My heart goes out to the entire Dugger family. So many lives are being affected because 1woman did not know the law. She is to be the one that needs to be santioned. The Duggars have allowed us in their lives and this is how we repay them. God bless all of you Duggar family. Josh hold your head up high. Anna may God give you strength.

  54. The haters need to stop! This family has dealt with a difficult issue in an effective, godly manner. Where is it written that you must confess every past sin to the whole world? It's nobody's business but theirs. Josh has grown into a fine husband and father who changed his ways from the foolishness of his youth. Redemption is what Christianity is all about. We are all sinners-let he who is without sin cast the first stone! Praying for the Duggars-my heart breaks for them.

  55. I really do not know why anyone would want to, or take pleasure from, opening old wounds. I have had devastating situations happened to me as a child, and the last thing that I would ever want, is someone rehashing a past any pain that I have worked so hard heal from, in order to move forward in my life in a more positive direction. Nobody wants to have their dirty laundry aired out for all the world to see. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Stay strong. God will deal with the stone throwers.

  56. I was molested as a young child by a cousin. I too was sleeping, don't tell me that these girls didn't know what was going on. I was taght at an early age by my parents that nobody is to touch me inapproperatly and I have also talked to my daughter about the same kind of things. Where were the parents when this was going on?? Didn't they have this conversation with these children?? Having 19 kids and putting the older children in charge of the younger ones so you can continue having more children is not in any way a responsible decision. Let these children be children. If you choose to have children, make sure you can raise them yourselves as parents. What has this world come to?? Making excuses for a boys wrong doing??

  57. Dear Jill and Jessa, thanks soooo much for your honesty. You dealed with it a long time ago, past ist past. You are so wonderful that you forgave long time ago and go on. 59. I am not Christian, but it happened to me and what happened yes was bad but the Duggars did the right thing. I feel bad for Jessa and Jill, they do not deserve this. They were only protected by their parents. Please TLC bring them back.

  60. I have to wonder if all of this contributed to such strict courting rules for Josh... And then the rules were maintained for the others so it wouldn't be suspicious. I know they would have had pretty high standards regardless, but the chaperones at every corner seem like they might be connected to this.

Not fair, not balanced and not unbiased reporting.
