Dillard Update

Jill Dillard is still recovering from the birth of Israel David Dillard. Her husband has been very supportive, and the rest of the Duggars and Dillards having been pitching in, as well.

"We are so blessed to have such a great family and such great support here at the hospital with the doctors and the nursing staff," Jill told PEOPLE."My sisters and my mom and Derick's mom have all been in to help!"

Derick had to leave his wife's side to have braces put on at an orthodontist, so Michelle Duggar stepped in and spent time with her daughter and new grandson. Joy-Anna kept Jill company in the hospital overnight one day this week.

According to Jill, Derick is "doing amazing at being a dad."

  24. I do wish there would be a better update on Jill. Most of us are pretty concerned. It just didn't look or sound like things went well and considering she's still in the hospital we have reason to be worried about our favorite duggar! Shame on TLC if they've put a gag order on them :(

  25. Prayers for healing. Hope you are home soon.

  26. Did she have a CSection? Must have if she is still in hospital. Hope she can rest and recover quickly.

  28. What was the complication that keeps Jill in the hospital so long? Praying she can go home soon....

  29. Gratitude and praise should always go to the hard working hospital staff, Jill is such a nice lady to remember them in her comments.

  30. Nice teeth are really wonderful for a person to have but anything to do with teeth, dentists, and orthodontists is really boring to me to see on a reality show, I don't get excited about it in the blog and I hope TLC doesn't show us this part of the Dillard's life in May.

  39. Wishing you a speedy recovery so you can be at home with your family. I bet it was hard for Derick to leave Jill at this previous time. I love how the Duggar family always supports each other. This is how all families should treat each other. Can't wait to see more pictures of Israel.

  40. Good to year that mother and baby are doing well and that Derick is such a supportive husband and father. Glad to hear that all of Jill's siblings, mom, and mother-in-law have gladly helped out too. Sorry to hear that Derick needed braces. I've never noticed that his teeth were crooked or had an overbight. Will his braces job be featured this season on 19 Kids and Counting?

  45. Please accept my congratulations on the birth of Israel David. So exciting to welcome a new child/grandchild into the family! Hope you recover quickly Jill so so can experience all the joys of parenthood.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why is Jill in the hospital still? She had the baby Monday and even if she had a C-section she should be discharged by now. Is everything ok?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Why can't Jill be left alone in the hospital for a couple of hours while Derrick has braces on? Is something wrong? That one video where Jill was talking did not sound like her voice. I thought maybe it was the acoustics in the hospital room but now I am wondering? Praying that everything is OK.

    ReplyDelete
  48. She must of had a C-section then. Or bled heavily. At least hospitals in Australia will let you go home from as little as 4 hours after the birth. And I've gone home the same day. I hope she recovers quickly. What a blessing to have so many loving helpers wanting to lend a hand and visit with you!

  49. You are such an amazing family I pray all is well with you ,that you are getting your strength back, I also pray that God will continue to Bless you and your family always :)

  53. Then Jill must have had a c-section to have to stay in the hospital so long. usually it is just two days stay.

  54. Did Jill have a C-Section? Israel David was a big baby. I was just wondering.

  60. What was her problem? Mom's usually leave the hospital the next day and Jill is still in there?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Why would she still be at the hospital? I can't wait to find out why they didn't to a home birth when they put money into it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Why does Derick need braces? Wouldn't he look weird with a baby and braces?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I haven't seen any where why she had the baby at the hospital and not a home birth?
    Can someone post the details

    ReplyDelete
  64. Did she have an episiotomy or a c-section? Hopefully she had an episiotomy because her chances won't be limited for the birth of her next child. With the episiotomy she might have a natural home birth for her next child.

  65. Sounds like a traumatic birth, have a tip from me, sleep when Israel sleeps, don't do too much exercise until your muscles are back to normal, try and rest even though you want to be there at all times for him and let the family chip in. Linda Oram

It's a long time to be in the hospital these days.
I love the Scripture, " Be still and know that I am God".

  73. She had a baby, not a serious surgery. She needs rest not a troop of people in & out of her room. She has nurses to take of her if she needs them. Not like women don't do it every day.

  74. Is Jessa on birth control? I'm very surprised she is not pregnant yet.

  75. I had 4 babies weighing over 9 lbs. and needed no additional help besides the capable trained nursing staff at the hospital. I'm sorry to hear that isn't so for Jill. Welcome to motherhood. Hopefully the next experience will be easier for her

    1. I had two c-sections, both babies weighed a little less than 8 pounds. I was in the hospital less than three days. However, I do remember it being difficult to get out of bed and lift the baby from the crib. I would imagine a ten pound baby would be more difficult. Since she has family members to help, she is lucky.

  76. One would surmise that Jill either had a C section or something else happened to Jill. The fact that Friday's post, which did not appear until Saturday, states that Jill is still in the hospital. Obviously, something serious happened. Our prayers go out to this precious family. See, having a large family gives you the benefit of so much live, help and support during The difficult journies we take in life! May the Burt of Israel bring your family even closer. Praying that all is going well! May God richly bless your family, as your family has been a blessing to us...your viewers. Galations 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ...........and the life which I now live, I live by the "FaIth" of the Son of God ............."

Your FaIth will get you through the circumstances of life! God Bless!

  84. Hi Readers,

Unfortunately, Israel's birth did not go as planned. Jill had to deliver in a hospital instead of at home. The Duggars and Dillards have chosen to keep the details of the complications under wraps for right now. More information will be revealed when the birth is aired on TLC on May 5th. We will continue to keep you updated. :)

    Blessings,
    Lily and Ellie

  85. Ok first of all its ok if Jill did NOT have a home birth..and second maybe some people should mind there own business in regards to derrick getting braces and if Jill had a c-section or not..lets be glad she had a healthy baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  86. Wow Lily and Ellie are great!!!!!

  87. It's great that she's had plenty of time in the hospital on bed rest to allow her body to heal.

  88. As usual, I'm getting a kick out of some of these comments. The best one is the person who's spooked by the baby. Hilarious!

  89. There must have been other complications other than a C-section. C-section mothers now usually only have 2 or possibly 3 days in hospital. I know from experience. I think the comment about her family staying at the hospital while Derrick was away is a simple explanation. There are so many family members that some are going to jump at the opportunity to stay with Jill. Most of us mothers stay at the hospital by ourselves because husband only gets 1 day off of work.

    1. I recently had a c section and chose to stay for 3 days, then the hospital allowed me to nest with my son Bc they were keeping him due to jaundice. We stayed 5 days.

  91. No one is commenting as to whether Jill is ok.
We don't need to know all the details, but just a statement that Jill is recuperating and doing well would be much apprecaiated. The fact that she is still in the hospital says volumes. Hopefully, "the show" isn't dictating that the viewing audience be kept in the dark about Jill's physical recovery. If that turns out to be the case, I am done with the show.

  92. she had a.c-section thats why derrick is in scrubs

  93. God Bless You Jill,Derick and Israel David. He is so HANDSOME!! I hope everything goes good and the recovery is fast. It is nice to have do much family that cares and helps out. Love the Duggars.

  94. Why did Joy stay overnight with Jill at the hospital? Seems unusual.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I had braces put on when I was older than Derrick and I am glad that he is getting it done now. Jill certainly needed someone with her at all times while in the hospital, since something as simple as going to the bathroom would require assistance. Nurses are very busy and patients are in a very difficult position if they have to wait for assistance. I will be hospitalized next month and will have a family member with me at all times. I have stayed with other family members when needed, and we always support each other.

  96. I hope the family lets the little family alone. They are the parents. Twenty four hands don't need to be involved.

  97. Pretty girl..
People are mad they know everything 6 months early. People are also already thinking things about home births and induction and being overdue. They just went through a lot. They may want more medical details to be postponed until later so those aren't added fodder to the rumor and gossip and opinion mill. We know that they went to hospital, which is great. We know the baby is here. We know the family left the hospital. It's all that matters.

  101. Hospital stays with or without c-sections vary widely depending on where you give birth and what kind of insurance you have. I'm in CA and am fortunate to have had three days in hospital (I only stayed for two) covered for a natural birth. For a c-section, it would have been 4 or 5 days. Also, since the baby was born at night, she would get a bit of extra time as the hospital wouldn't release her in the middle of the night.

    ReplyDelete
  102. First of all the Duggar and Dillard family have the right to their privacy regarding the details of something as personal as the birth of their child. Perhaps it is traumatic and still difficult to talk about at this time and their focus is on Jill's recovery and baby Isreal. They share many aspects of their life and some things are just private. Thankfully Jill is doing well and so is Baby.

Secondly baby Dillard came at 41 weeks and some odd days, so perhaps Derick had this orthodontist appointment previously scheduled far in advance and had no way to know baby would come so late. Regardless it shouldn't be an issue that he left the hospital for a couple of hours given the huge amount of family support they have. As far as how he will look with braces that's his business and his wife's. If having them and getting straighter teeth makes him feel better about himself than more power to him. And if they can now afford it and couldn't prior I'm not faulting them as I'd do the same.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Her photo of her bring home shows an IV in background look by lamp post. She had a c-section people magazine announced today. So apparently she had a rough birth to need care at home. Plus your not supposed to lift over 10 pounds with a c-section. Ha ha Isreal is about over that limit. :)

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think more information means that a People Magazine story is getting ready to be released. Full story about Jill's complicated delivery. Was hoping everyone would find out the whole story in May when the show airs. I hate it when all the news is revealed before a new episode.
