Before being pronounced husband and wife at their wedding, Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald had the sound engineers play a song that they had carefully selected for their special day. It was Andrew Peterson's "Dancing in the Mine Fields," and although it wasn't written for the Seewalds, it is an appropriate representation of their love story. Click here to watch the music video on YouTube.
I remember that!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song about true love, has got me in tears!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great video and song!! I am a little confused about the choice because I thought the Duggars were against dancing though...
ReplyDeleteThat's the name of the song I belive
DeleteI was a bit confused when I read the title as I know the Duggars don't dance. I'm not sure if the Seewalds also have a conviction not to dance.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a metaphor. Like travelling through hard times but going through it together. If you listen to the lyrics. "We went dancing in the mine fields, we went sailing through the storm"
DeleteThey don't dance? Who would not want to dance???
DeleteWhat a perfect song for their wedding. Fits their story beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThe song that comes to mind for Ben and Jessa is an old Chuck Berry classic, C'est la Vie.
ReplyDeleteIt was a teenage wedding and the old folks wished them well
You could see that Pierre(Ben) did truly love the Mademoiselle
And now the young Monsieur and Madame have rung the chapel bell
C'est La vie" say the old folks
It goes to show you never can tell
what a beautiful, perfect song for Ben & Jessa!
ReplyDeleteLove that song! We had that song in our wedding a few years ago too! Andrew Peterson's book series is even better than his music. If you haven't read the Wingfeather Saga you should check it out!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song!
ReplyDeleteThat surprises me since the Duggar's don't dance.
ReplyDeleteOur family LOVES Andrew Peterson. Behold the Lamb of God is our favorite Christmas CD! :) What a sweet song!
ReplyDeleteI believe that is the name of the song. Not that they danced in the mine field
ReplyDeleteI believe it is speaking figuratively out dancing, sailing, and kicking own the door - metaphors for facing the hard times in a married life.
ReplyDeleteThe dancing is symbolism for being joyful in the midst of trials.
ReplyDeleteIts an ok song nothing id listen to myself but then i would rather listen to the radio station klove the christian radio station
ReplyDeleteDancing in the Mine Fields really isn't about dancing folks...it's about taking the risk and staying together through any obstacle that tries to get in the way. It doesn't really have anything to do with literal "dancing" like most of you are perceiving it...it's like dancing through life :) What a perfect song for them.
ReplyDelete@Anonymoussame here
ReplyDeleteMarriage is forever only if God is in your promise!!
ReplyDeleteGreat song and video! I haven't heard this artist before, and after listening to other songs online, apparently I've been missing a lot. Ben and Jessa have great taste in music. Thanks for posting this.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous. Agree
ReplyDeleteWhy don't the Duggar's dance?
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful song!
ReplyDeleteLoved it. They can dance in love in front of God.
ReplyDeleteI wwas surprised too. Sometimes I really do not understand their way of living. It would be nice if they once can explain it how they see this. Just for info to so many readers. Do not take this in the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteLove, Wilma
Beautiful and real - love the lyrics!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean...they dont dance?? Whats wrong with dancing? That gorgeous full gown the jessa girl married in was MADE for dancing an elegant waltz! They danced at their wedding...right??!
ReplyDeleteThis song might not literally be talking about "dancing" or "sailing". Perhaps it speaks symbolically of going through life together. Beautiful, moving lyrics and melody.
ReplyDeleteI love this song;so fitting for Jessa and Ben! I now think of them whenever I hear it on the radio. And with the word "dancing" in it it goes to show that individuality DOES happen in this family. Blessings on the couple; may it continue to be true for them
ReplyDeleteAgreed!!
DeleteI heard the Duggar camp asked the Robertson camp to publish kissing pictures and the Robertson camp absolutely refused. Smart people. The Duggar camp needs to learn from them.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet song! I am looking forward to the episode of their wedding! Our family LOVES watching the 19 Kids and Counting! Blessings to this precious family!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song...I believe the dance refers to their lives together,
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful song, and it fits them so well. As far as the dancing, it's not talking about actual dancing. It's seems to me, that he is using the word dancing to paint a picture of how the couples moved through the hard times in marriage.
ReplyDeleteLovely song.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet song. The beginning really did match Ben and Jessa and I know that the ending will too!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteEveryone.... there is a petition going around for TLC to keep the Duggars on the air. Please sign it on ipetitions.com if you love the Duggars and believe in traditional values. Love you Duggars!!!
Dancing is a metaphor, look it up. Why do people always have to be critical. It doesn't have anything to to with a physical dance to music.
ReplyDeleteBut they don't dance........Or maybe Jessa does now?
ReplyDeleteI dont know why there are still Christians out there that dont dance. In the bible it says they danced and sang for joy. While filled with Holy Spirit they danced with jov. There is nothing wrong with dancing. I was brought up the same way with old school rules and they thing is they are man made rules not from the bible. if you choose not to dance please dont make it apart of a religious belief it just confuses those who dont know the bible.
ReplyDeleteAt the end, when he's on the chair in the water was kinda goofy, but the rest was great!
ReplyDeleteI was 20 and hubby was 21 when we joined our hearts with God's blessing and our family's blessing. We've been married for almost 33 years. Our courtship was 4 months and we prayed and took council before saying I do's. We are happier and more in love than when first married. We've been through a lot of trials. Our not so secret success is our Lord. Unconditional love is beautiful. Our children are grown we were blessed with 2 sons and a daughter. Our first pregnancy twin girls are with the Lord. I agree with something I heard Anna say about her miscarriage. It's difficult to be thankful when sorrow falls, however I've learned to give these things to God and walk away he will take care of you. I just love this entire family and now the extended married family's. God bless y'all and your continued ministry to others. :-)
ReplyDeletePretty song and all; just remember Jessa is a Duggar and Duggars don' t dance in "mine fields" or anywhere else!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure all the fans know the name of the song is, "Dancing in the Mine Fields", but lots of fans were confused as the title of this post said, Jessa & Ben Go "Dancing in the Mine Fields" when the Duggars don't dance.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this song is really about minefields and ocean storms.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jess's & Ben...may you have a long & happy life together , may God bless preserve & protect your marriage, & may it withstand the tests & trials that this world will try to bring against it...
ReplyDeleteNo, she did not dance in that dress at her wedding. They didn't have a dance. Neither did Jill.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 23, no they do not dance. Despite the Bible speaking of dancing repeatedly as an act of worship.
ReplyDeleteNo anonymous 23 they did not dance at any Duggar wedding!
ReplyDeleteI get that dancing is supposed to be a metaphor for joy, but it seems hypocritical because the Duggars don't actually believe that dancing is an appropriate expression of joy. If Jessa and Ben believed that it was, why didn't they dance at their wedding? It just seems odd to play a song that mentions dancing at a wedding with no dancing.
ReplyDeleteHello, can you tell us where Jessa and Ben live now?
ReplyDeleteaww!! this was the best song for Jessa and Ben!! It was amazing when it started playing at the wedding and Ben and Jessa were both beaming!! :) it was a great wedding and i'm so glad i was a part of it!! :) <3
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 26, i happen to be great friends with the Duggar family and i was at Jessa and Bens wedding. They did not dance as most couples do. But the wedding was very special anyways! :)
ReplyDeleteYour family is so refreshing in this chaotic world where wrong is right and bad is good. Please just keep on with what you all are doing. I love how you have raised your children. I repent for some of my decisions with my children after I have learned of Jesus and how I should have done their raising. God bless you many times over every day. I know God will lead your family today and tomorrow. Thank you for showing the world your love of Christ. D. Singleton
ReplyDelete@Anonymous "Camps?" What? Why are you spreading gossip? Did you not read that Sadie R spoke of her support for Michelle's traditional marriage stance? Why pit one family against another, except to cause trouble? Sad that you feel you have to do that.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jessa and Ben, Thank you for sharing this song. It is a mirror image of my Husband and I. We have lasted 32 years and are still newly weds. Congratulations to you both and many loving years to come.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the Duggars are intentionally creating gossip. Probably boosts their ratings. People, really. Don't choose a song referencing dancing and joy together if you dislike dancing - really just good sense. On the other hand, it all adds to the controversy lately.
ReplyDeleteWhat don't people understand that the dancing in the mine fields is a metaphore? Why do they have to create turmoil for gossip and ratings for. I dont think they care about that. They care about people trying to discredit them and their family values. So what they dont dance. Its there family beliefs. I know a lot of people that don't dance or have music at their wedding receptions. I didnt it was also a dry wedding and we still had fun. Not because i dont believe in dancing and music because I do believe in worshiping the lord in that way, at the time i didnt want dancing drinking and stuff at my reception because drunks ruin a party and if theres no alcohol then theres no drunks. Plain and simple.
ReplyDeletelike the video and song, appropriate metaphor for married life and especially perhaps for this young couple who will be dancing through minefields given media attention they receive , not to mention life itself which is always full of the unexpected.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful song!mwhat a great metaphor for going through life together! The words to the song hare so moving and inspirational. And whether Ben and Jessa actually dance or not is no ones business. Thank you so much Jessa and Ben for sharing this beautiful song! Good luck in your future together and blessings for no minefields.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous I'm pretty sure the "dancing" term is part of the illustration that the song gives.
ReplyDeletei have loved this song for years and i am SO happy to find out that it means so much to Jessa and Ben! God bless to y'all!
ReplyDelete@AP
ReplyDeleteHi AP,
Jessa and Ben have not shared where they are living. We will announce it when/if they do. :)
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Lily and Ellie
@Anonymouslove the song yes i thought ths duggars was against dancing , listening to the words of the song was amazing ,i loved it if you love some one dancing with them to a song like that shows just how much love you have for that person . I would love to see jessa and Ben dance to that song their is nothing wrong with dancing if people think it is wrong then they have the problem with not understanding showing afection for the loved one you dance with that person not any one else .
ReplyDeleteWhere do Jessa and Ben live? If you watched their wedding, honeymoon in Europe and when they arrived back home, you would know.😉 I watched and I know.
