Staying Motivated with 19 Kids

Can you imagine the difficulty of maintaining a tidy house with 19 kids? Gil and Kelly Bates and their 19 children have this sign hanging in their kitchen as a humorous reminder that they are responsible for keeping their home clean and orderly.

Do you have any motivational signs around your house? Click here to see a picture of the Family Rules plaque that is displayed in the Duggars' dining room.

  1. Cute, it looks like it may have once fallen off the wall . I do not have any words posted at home. I am getting more and more inclined to think that the instructional behaviour is one of the keys to success that these families practise regularly and doing that from an early age has helped the wisdom and godly character development of the children very much.

  6. Love it... My house too, I have seven children and homeschool all of them. Our house we say is lived in. LOL!!! We try to keep up on the cleaning but it gets out of hand at times. God bless..

  7. Ours (all teens and above) says:
Please clean up after yourself. Unfortunately it is the cleaning staff's year off. We do get intersting suggestions/discussions from the kids on how we could get a cleaning staff hired.

  9. That is such a cute plaque! It is a good reminder to everyone to pitch in regularly and help with all the house keeping chores. It is so silly when people send in comments that are upset to see the children taking on some responsibilities and helping out Mom, Dad, or other siblings.
