Have you been following the blog long enough to remember reading updates about Josie Duggar as she fought for her life in the Arkansas Children's Hospital NICU? The little girl who commanded the attention of the world when she was born weighing 1 pound 6 ounces turns five years old in December.
In her latest TLC Parentables post, Michelle Duggar shares how Josie reacted when the Duggar family welcomed the doctor who delivered Josie into their home for dinner.
The night before they came over, I told Josie, “Tomorrow
evening we are going to have the doctor over who delivered you. God used him to
save your life and my life. The skills that he learned in school, and all of
the training that he got, allowed him to sustain your life and mine.”
The minute her doctor stepped foot through the door, she hugged his leg and didn't let go of him the whole time he was here. He picked her up, and she hugged his neck, kissed him on the cheek, and just would not let go.
As the doctor and his wife pulled into the Duggars' driveway, Josie stood at the window and jumped up and down.

At four years old, Josie has started studying phonics and violin, is riding a bike without training wheels, and loves singing.
She is excelling. She sings all the time; she has a song in her heart, and if she doesn’t know the words, she just makes them up.
Michelle says she wants Josie to understand what a miracle it is that she is alive and well. When the family meets fans who prayed for Josie when she was in the NICU, Josie shows her appreciation by giving them a heartfelt hug.
We have such gratitude in our hearts that she’s here, and we don’t take for granted a day that we get with her. It makes you look at all of your other relationships so differently and appreciate the time that you’ve got with the kids.

God works miracles! Wishing Josie the best!
ReplyDeletepraise God she is here and well. can we have a update on the other family member. please remember that it is not all about jill and Jessa.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that all is well for Josie and that she made it. Having said that, if Michelle is so grateful for the doctors and nurses whose education, training, and being out there in the workforce saved their lives, she must realize also, how important a real education and opportunities are. Why are those good things denied to her own children? Where would have Michelle been without those people?
ReplyDeleteWiping tears away . . . beautiful. Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteNothing against Josie, but when are we going to get such a big update on Jordyn? Hope Jordyn understands what a miracle she is, all children are. I think Jordyn is ignored.
ReplyDeleteJosie is an angel here in earth!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that's adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have been watching the Duggars before Jose was born. I just think she is adorable. That doctor has sure made a difference in her life along with her mom, Michelle, and family. I know the Duggars don't know me but I feel like I know them since I have been watching and following their family before Josh got married. The whole Duggar family is beautiful but with the youngest one she is just precious. Love to see her doing new things.
ReplyDeleteI watch the show from time to time, great the little girl's outcome was so good. But really - I'm involved with special needs and it does seem apparent that this little girl could have some developmental issues, even if they are milder. I would have so much respect for the Duggars if they came forward honestly to help other families - especially since they claim that the show is to encourage other families. Being dishonest would seem to go against their values. Disappointed. I hope the reconsider a great opportunity to help other families.
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck are u talking about? You must not know nothing about this family. They help so many unfortunate people....take the last episode of last season when they sold most of their things in storage to fund the NIC U that saved Josie.Educate yourself first before you speak of what you evidently dont know, thanks!
DeleteAwww... That is so awesome!! I truly believe that God has an amazing plan for Josie's life!! May God bless her and use her in many, many ways!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so encouraging! Josie is truly a blessing!
ReplyDeleteHi Lily and Ellie! Just wanted to let you know that
ReplyDelete"Jill Says Yes to the Dress" is on YouTube. Thanks!
You guys are amazing, God Bless You!
I'm glad to hear Josie is doing well, but I'd love to hear more about Jordyn who did not get enough attention from her Mother as a baby. I'm sure she got love and affection from her siblings, but it doesn't compare to a maternal bond. With Michelle spending the majority of her time away from the family when Josie was born, and with the care Josie needed when she left the hospital, it always seemed as though Jordyn was neglected to some capacity.
ReplyDeleteI agree Jordyn does seem to be a neglected. I also feel bad on her birthday they celebrated Josie's and Mackenzie's I feel like she should get her special time with mom and dad then do something big with her family.
DeleteThat has got to be one of the sweetest things i have ever heard:-) Godbless that family!:-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Josie sharing more of her talents along with the rest of the talented Duggar family.
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous 9. What you said was very rude. You need to appolize for what you wrote.
ReplyDelete@AnonymousI could not agree more with you!
ReplyDeleteI heard that Josie is in speech therapy. Is that true?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a dig...by the way it's none of anyones buisnes.
DeleteWould love to hear more about jenny and jordyn...it breaks my heart that they are so ignored...just watching jenny interact with michelle is so sad ...
ReplyDeleteChildren are a blessing from the Lord! Josie is an absolute miracle! May the Lord continue to bless her life!!
ReplyDeleteMy brother was born a few month's premature and for a few month's we were on our toes wondering if he would be with us. That was years ago and he is a normal healthy young man. He had some issues do to being born early but I am glad to have him. Josie's birth was much like my brother and he was almost as small as her at birth I think.
ReplyDeletethey are not stopping their kids from going on to college. if that is what they want. they just home school thru the 12th grade.
ReplyDeleteI don't get how some blame Michelle for spending so much time with Josie when she was born. She loves all her children equally, but Josie was very premature. Any mother would want to spend all the time with them. Yes, she missed all her other kids, but Josie really needed her mother a bit more than the other kids at the time. Maybe, Jordyn missed out on spending as much time with her mom when she was a little under 1 when Josie was born, but Josie could have died. Also, the Duggars do allow their children to pursue further education if they want to. However, they don't force it upon them; they give them the option.
ReplyDeleteTo add to my last comment, Jordyn does get plenty of attention, but since there was a great possibility Josie might not make it of course they say how much of a miracle she is. I'm sure all the kids get attention, but please remember the Duggars aren't perfect. I think sometimes people put way too much pressure on them and criticize them like they do everything perfect. They are human!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Josie is doing good, epecially since her "bed buddy", Jill moved away to get married. I'm so glad that she's alive and well and has barely no health problems. And I'm glad Michelle's still alive too.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWhy would you think that the Duggar Children are denied a "real" education? They are given a top-notch advanced education beginning in infancy and each child has the choice to continue education {and many do} after graduating high school or enter the job field.
@Anonymous I meant there was a possibility when she was born that she wouldn't make it.
ReplyDelete" A real education"? "Those good things denied to her own children"?
ReplyDeleteDo you even watch the show?
It just boggles my mind how people asume that they know every detail about this family, we only see a fraction of their lives. To say that some children get less attention is just pure speculation, no proof. You cant say it's so just because theT.V. show may edit it that way, unintentionally I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteThe Duggar children are given free choice, yet they all seem to make similar choices with regards to relationships and education. I am wondering how "free" they really are...particularly if millions of fans are watching them.
ReplyDeleteHi there..im one of big fan "19 kids & counting"..im far from malaysia..in malaysia, the current episode is when michael was born..seems im left behind so far didn't i..hehee
ReplyDelete@BrandynNo, they do not believe in furthering their education. College is out of the question.
ReplyDeleteIn response to a previous comment Just because Josie was nurtured by doctors and nurses and all the other support staff and her parents and siblings in a health care facility does not mean Mr and Mrs Duggar are obliged to make one of their children into a health care professional, now that would be a really unfair consequence to one of their children! Gratitude is enough!
ReplyDeleteJosie is so bright, she is so smart. Im glaad that she has no ill effects from being a preemie.:-):-):-)
ReplyDeleteI, too, feel like Jenny is ignored. Lily and Ellie, you guys should post "A Duggar A Day" and just give info on that Duggar. Starting from youngest to oldest or oldest to youngest.
ReplyDelete@anonymous 32 - not free at all. Do some research about them on the internet.
ReplyDeleteI remember the challenges the family went through when Josie was born, Moving into that historical home to be closer to her, Josie truly is a miracle and beautiful little girl with a personality to match. Plus she is blessed with a beautiful family that adores her! You are all an inspiration to me. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
ReplyDeleteSorry, my comment above (#38) was in response to Anon 33 not Anon 32. I think the numbers change LOL. I'll just say it again, to all who wonder .... the Duggar children are not free to do anything ... they are not free to pursue a higher education .... they do not choose their dating rules .....they do not choose their clothes. All chosen for them by JB.
ReplyDeleteJosie possessing a natural aptitude for performing means she will be the centre of attention for years to come. Noticing what will happen...what can Dad and Mom do to counter balance the effect that pattern is going to have on the other children in the family?
ReplyDelete@AnonymousI don't think she is being rude in advocating for children with special needs, which is essentially what she said.
ReplyDelete@AnonymousI have said all along that Josie has issues. She is cute and high spirit but even Michelle has stated she still some restrictions on what she can do. She also experienced an extended seizure. This cause brain damage and the paramedics said Josie was barely breathing. The comment was not rude, just the truth. Nothing was said negative or mean spirited. Facts are facts.
