Duggars Celebrate 30 Years Together

Thirty years ago, Jim Bob Duggar, 19, and Michelle Ruark, 17, recited their wedding vows in front of 200 family members and friends. Four years later, Josh Duggar was born, and two years after that, twins Jana and John-David Duggar entered the world.

Today, Jim Bob and Michelle have 19 children and three grandchildren, and their family is still growing. Happy 30th wedding anniversary to the Duggars! How many grandchildren do you think they will have ten years from now?

  2. Happy Anniversary to them. It's crazy to think Michelle was only a year older then Joy-Anna is now when she married Jim bob. As for how many grand kids that one's tricky. Josh and Anna already have 3 so I see them having maybe six more in the next 10 years just going off the fact they had 3 in their first five years. so That brings up too 9. Jill and Derick I would guess would have six in the next ten years so that's 15. and by the ten years from now all but the youngest three girls Jennifer, Jordyn and Josie will be old enough to marry with Johannah being 18. so That could be a crazy amount of grand kids. too many to even fathom.

  3. two many to account. hopeful jill and derrick will wait a while before they have kids.

  21. I don't think they were that young. I remember Michele saying her father let them get engaged when she was 18, so I think the ages are a little off, here.

  22. Happy Anniversary Michelle and Jim Bob! You set a very fine example of marriage. I love that, in being Christians, you just don't "talk the talk" but you also "walk the walk". I wish you many more blessed years together. As far as how many grandkids they will have in ten years...my guess is....22 in total.

  27. I think 10years from now they will havev20 kids and that'll be it. When is the show coming back and was the wedding taped so we can see it

  28. In ten years by my calculation if all children from Josh down to Jackson married ( excluding the younger girls and given that grandchildren, like children are not always an exact science) it could be as follows ;
Josh & Anna 10 in total ( given the space between the 3 they have now )
Jana aprox 5 - if she wishes,
John David 4 max ( given he mumbled in one episode that he doesn't plan to marry until about 30yrs old as he wishes to save up and get a house first, put money in the bank etc),
Jill & Derick 8 children and one or two more given any that they adopt - as I suspect this with be the couple out of all of the children that will, to their credit - go for it with adoption. They will probably, given their hearts, live over seas for some also in these years as missionaries also.
    Jessa Probably 6,
Jinger 4, Joseph 4,Josiah 4, Joy for some reason I felt 4 children also,
Jed 2, Jer 2, Jason 2, ( may be one of these boys might have 3 rather than 2)
James 1, Justin 1 and we will add Jackson as a 1, whom I believe will be good a husband one day. so about 58 - 61 grandchildren give or take a few.

  29. Happy anniversary!!! My parents just had their 20th anniversary 2 weeks ago. Time flies! I can't believe how big the kids are getting. Thanks so much for doing the show. My family loves watching it. Wishing you many more happy years, and many, many beautiful Godly grandchildren! I hope all the duggar children get married to Godly men/women and stay married as long as the two of you have. God Bless!

  30. @Anonymous I'm guessingat least 100 grandchilren. Some will have 1 or 2, some will have 10 or 12. ** That picture of Michelle winking with her marriage license is just too cute. Shows she always had a good sense of humor. Jim Bob says it was love (for him) at first sight. But I think Michelle directed that wedding. LOL

  31. Lets see... over the next 10 years there are 12 possible Duggars old enough to have got married... but for statistical probability lets say that 8 more get married... plus the two that are... so 10 married children and lets say they each have 3 each, plus the 3 already here and the two that Anna and Jill are likely to announce before Christmas... so my guess is that by Jim-Bob & Michelle's 40th wedding anniversary there will be 35 grandkids. And just for fun... I also figure that one of the younger Duggar boys will marry a Bates girl and that one of the Bates boys will marry Mackynzie.

  32. What an amazing couple and family!! My hubby and I love their show and especially the resources found on their website. My guess is they will have somewhere between 24-30 grand-kiddo's in the next 10 years. I hope we get the opportunity to follow this family for another 10 years so that we will know. :))

  33. Run the numbers. . .in the next 200 years, there will be 1 billion Duggars. Duggars will start having to go to other countries to find spouses.

  34. Happy 30th anniversary Jim Bob & Michelle. I just started watching your show a month ago and I've been watching it every day since. I love the family and I wish you'll many more blessings to come.

  38. In 10 years, the number will still be manageable. My step-Dad was the youngest of 14. His eldest brother was 26 years older than him. He had nieces and nephews older than him. I can not name all my cousins on that side, but there were around 100. There was no Skype, no email, long-distance wasn't free, and there was no cell phones, only a land-line. It was impossible to stay connected to that many people spread over the country. There will soon be too many grand-children for Jim Bob and Michelle to count, name, or play with. By the time the youngest grandchildren are born, they will only know Jim Bob and Michelle as those old people who want nothing to do with them because they are too loud and make noise and messes.

  48. I get such a kick out young Michelle holding their marriage certificate and winking at the camera. These two have given me a fresh perspective on youthful marriage. I have realized it is far more important to marry within God's will. God's will may bring you to marriage at 17 or 77, or not at all, it is remaining in His will that matters.

  49. HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY! As for how many grandbabies wouldn't even try to guess! Just that they are born healthy! :)

  50. I say that in 10 years they will re-name the state of Arkansas to Duggar-nation!

She looks great after 30 years of marriage and all of those babies!! God bless them!

  51. You know I keep looking at the young pic of Michelle I think if I had to pick one daughter that looks the most like her I'd say Jana. Mainly because she's the only older daughter that kept blond hair and Michelle's hair looks light as a younger woman.

  52. What would be wrong with saying Jesus may come back soon? My daughter said that when she was little it always scared her when people would say something like this, 'we are living in the end times'.
(KJV) Philippians 2:12 work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Acts 1:1011 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up , behold , two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said , Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

  53. 53 I was wondering about the practise of coloring of women's hair with dye. In the Bible I think Jesus says not to swear by your head because you can not make one hair black or white? So should we try to make our hair another color than it is?

  54. My husband and I got married on July 21, 1984 like Jim Bob and Michelle, and also like them, had our first born, a son, born on March 3, 1988. What are the chances of that happening???!!!! Congrats to Jim Bob and Michelle on 30 years!

  56. They certainly aren't the only couple who has been married for 30 years. They act like it's a unique accomplishment. They have plenty of company in the anniversary department.

  57. It's nice that Jim Bob and Michelle are celebrating their 30th anniversary, but they keep posting the same 2-3 photos of their wedding ceremony. We would like to see OTHER photos of their wedding, ie, who was Michelle's maid of honor and Jim bob's best man? We would like to see photos of them and the Ruark, Duggar parents at the wedding...please stop recycling the same photos over and over. Jill and Derick are doing the same thing, and we would like to see some different family/wedding party photos of them, too.

  60. Were Michelle and Jim Bob the only ones present at their wedding ceremony? Where is the photo of her father walking her down the aisle? How about HER parents? We would love to see a younger Mary Duggar and Mr. Duggar, Sr. at that time, too. Who were their attendants? Any real photos?

  61. Congrats!! I hope they all have at least 3-5 kids each! We need more people like them in this world! Looking forward to loving, learing and hearing more about the whole Duggar clan way into I'm in my golden years (I'm 32 yrs old)! They always strike favor in my family! Maybe a Duggar President someday!? Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Duggar for sharing your lives and spreading God's word! Sides Huggs from Texas! 62. Dear mthoughtis your comment was interesting in that you mentioned the differences between your step father's large family's era and communication and the present technology people enjoy. However I think your thoughts about Jim Bob and Michelle and some future grandchildren and maybe great grandchildren are cynical. I feel sort of bad for you that your thinking is so negative. I truly believe that Jim Bob and Michelle will know the names, ages, birthdates, etc of every grandchild and will have lots of photos posted of them all and each grandchild will be wanted and encouraged to come, stay and play at their grandparents house. It will be wonderful and lively and precious to each person.
