Jim Bob Duggar on Religious Freedom

In the following YouTube video, Jim Bob Duggar chats with Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, about religious freedom and how he involves his family in politics.

"I have a feeling that several of my kids in the future will run for office and help each other run for office..." says the father of 19.

In another interview, Brad Dacus is joined by Josh Duggar, who talks about his new job in Washington D.C.

  1. Interesting, the host asked Josh what HE does for the FRC? Josh didn't answer the question.

  2. Jim Bob stated in this interview that is was important for Christians to "step up" for religious freedom, etc, I would hope that he meant all people of faith; ie I believe that Jewish people also have the same right to religious freedom in this country. He should have broadened his adjective.

Maybe you should watch their visit to Israel and look at the Jewish Flags around the Duggar house as well as the girls wearing Star of David necklaces.
I think that says it all.

  7. We have religious freedom in this country right now. People constantly mistake religious freedom for a country that is running based on a certain religions, in this case Christian, text. Religious freedom is the freedom to practice religion how the person sees fit as long as it is not hurting anyone or themselves and is not breaking any laws. This country was set up so that people are free to worship how they want no matter what the religion is and if you start making laws based on one religion it is taking that freedom away from others.

  8. I don't think Jim Bob really means religious freedom. I think he means only Christians should be able to insert their views into government which is not at all what religious freedom is.

  9. @AnonymousJim Bob didn't directly answer the question about what he is involved in. JimBob discussed that he has 19 kids, a tv show and was a politician in '97! What are you doing now JimBob and what do YOU do at FRC Josh??? Those were the questions posed to them!

  10. I was a bit confused after watching these clips...I have always understood religious freedom to mean that people are allowed to practice their religion of choice, whatever that religion happens to be. If they are suggesting that only Christianity should be the accepted religion, then how are they promoting religious freedom? I find this to be extremely ignorant and hypocritical.

  12. The problem is, for them "religious freedom" means the freedom to impose their Christian ideals on others.

  13. @Anonymous @Anonymous 7 -- You say we haver religious freedom as long as we obey the law, but you are ignoring the very serious issue here. What if the law goes against someone's deeply held religious convictions, such as the ACA requiring (until a court decision) Hobby Lobby to provide abortion drugs to its employees? Or -- in the case of college campuses right now -- the laws requiring religious clubs on campus to allow a person not of that religion to hold office in that club. Does that make any sense to a thinking person?

  14. @Anonymous Jim Bob is speaking from his own perspective as a Christian. Perhaps if you want the Jewish or Muslim perspective on religious freedom, then find a video about that.
