New Episodes of 19 Kids and Counting

We just got word from TLC that the 19 Kids and Counting season eight premiere is less than six weeks away! New episodes return on April 1st, 2014, and don't worry, this isn't an April Fools' joke.

The Duggars have been busy, so there's a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season. Here's  the summary:

Life can get busy with a brood of 19, but the Duggars always make sure to celebrate the special moments in their super-sized family. And there's plenty to celebrate in the eighth season of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting.  In the premiere episode, the Duggars make an exciting announcement - Jessa and Ben are courting! Dating with the intent of marriage, Jessa and Ben refrain from kissing or holding hands and always have a chaperone on dates, phone calls and even text messages. Now that their courtship is official, the Duggar boys put Ben to the test, making sure he's ready to take care of their sister. Later, the tables are turned when Jessa visits Ben's hometown and gets hit with some serious questions during a double date with Ben's parents. And the whole family reflects on what it means that a Duggar daughter may soon be leaving the nest. This 10-episode season of 19 Kids and Counting premieres April 1 at 9PM/8PM CST and airs Tuesdays in the same time slot through May

This season will explore a changing family dynamic as the Duggar children continue to grow up, with many of the older kids considering courtships. The four eldest Duggar girls - Jana, Jill, Jessa and Jinger - announce that they have written a book, and the family attends Erin Bates' highly-anticipated wedding. Michelle spends one-on-one time with each of her children and the whole family visits Josh and Anna in Washington, DC. Throughout the season, cameras will check in on the DC-based Duggars, as Anna begins to homeschool her growing brood and the young family goes on a fun ski outing for a day. Two of the Duggars make a special trip to Nepal, and the youngest children prepare a surprise dinner theatre talent show for Jim Bob and Michelle.

  4. This season sounds FANTISTIC to me. I don't watch entertainment TV shows, which this one is, in order to watch someone try to get me to choose which political candidate I will vote for, which political party I belong to, and what my beliefs are. I watch TV shows such as The Duggars to get away from all of that. I really enjoy the TV show Sister Wives just as much as I enjoy the Duggar show. The Duggar show was just getting far, far, way, way, too political. Sounds like TLC is swinging the pendalum back to "let's see how other people live" and "not vote for this and vote for that." Kudos. Maybe the Real Duggars are back and that they understand the following of the show in the first place. The Duggars are not a news show or a political show. They are for entertainment and enjoyment. Just please, no more political campaigning. If they want to do that, they need go to another network. And if that is what they want to do--political campaigning--that is okay. Just got to be way too much cramming beliefs down throats, rather than watching an alternative lifestyle wiht an open mind and enjoying what can be learned.

    1. I'm sorry, but this isn't a show just for entertainment. Michelle always says they do this only for the purpose of encouraging others, serving God & others, & showing God's love to the world.

  5. Let us not see, in this season, more bus trips, leaving all of us wondering about the Duggar's commitment to their own children, insteading of raising them on a bus to campaign how they think other people should raise their own chilren and what decisions they should make according to the Duggars. Let us see more of Michelle, not just Anna, being a Mom, not the "older children" being a Mom, which Michelle is rightfully criticized of being. I have a grandchild, but I do not vision that grandchild as to being groomed and taught to take care of younger grandchildren. I see my grandchild as being groomed and taught to realize her best potential, no matter the birth order, the responsibility of being a Grandmama or Mama rests on me. Let us see Michelle taking more of an interest in her own "younger" children than on the campaign trail. It doesn't sound like it so far. I do not watch TLC to watch a mime of a political news show.

  18. So excited for the upcoming season, especially with Jessa and Ben. I am predicting that by the end of this year there will be another special announcement with those 2.

I have marked the calendar and I will be there on April 1st, and that isn't no joke either.

  21. Thanks lily and Ellie I'm really excited to watch the new season:) thanks for telling us. I have a question, does any of the duggar girls have purity rings?

    Hi Anonymous 18,

The Duggar girls do have purity rings. They get them as a gift from their parents in their early teen years.

    1. Ok thanks, I was wondering that because on some of the shows the girls had rings on there left hand so I was thought they did but I wasn't sure so thanks.

P.S I have a purity ring from my dad, I don't wear it because its so special to me and I don't want to break it or lose it.

  23. Josie looks so old she is 4 years old in the new season I can't believe it! I can rember watching the episodes when she was in the NICU and now she is 4 WOW! with "14 kids and pregnant again" 5 of the kids weren't there and the older ones so young time flies when you are watching the best show "19 kids and counting" I hope everyone in the family is doing fantastic. I only watched part of the 6th season I watch the whole entire 7th season. but with the shows break I watch about every single episodes but "18 kids and counting" but i watched 14 kids and 15 kids...! and16 kids... and 17 kids...! But I saw 1 or two episodes of 18 kids... Soon the older girls and boys will not be livin at home and you will have like ten kids at home.

  24. It looks like the Little Couple is taking the Duggars time slot in March. As much as I like watching the Duggars, I am so excited to see Jen & Bill adopt Zoey. TLC also filmed Jen's battle with cancer in a very open way which I think will really help inform viewers of the struggles of cancer & treatment. I think Jen is such a brave women to have them film her literally in one day going from one of the greatest moments of her life, adopting her daughter, to finding out she has stage 3 cancer the next day, watching her lose her hair, be sick for chemo and keep a smile on her face. Instead of being sad that we get less Duggars this spring I think viewers should be lucky to watch such an inspiring Journey that Bill and Jen are allowing us to see.

  25. It is so frustrating to not find an answer from anyone about the schedule, do you girls have a way of finding out about the lack of episodes, or are they at least breaking up the year in two parts, are the 10 episodes one or two hours long? Or are they just scaling back and weening off.Does TLC ever take an interest in your site to see how us fans feel, or better yet get some ideas on new episodes or are likes and dislikes.Since we know that some Duggars read our posts cant they suggest to the Network that the majority wishes the show would get back to the basics and not so political and more about the big extraordinary family and less Josh and Annas little one. Please please can you help us with these scheduling ?'s and the rest if u can.By the way I do love Josh and Anna, but maybe we should just see them when they are with the Duggars and not separately az it takes away from the big families time, since that what its about in the first place. Thanks again,I hope you can help us.;)

  26. Do the BOYS get and wear purity rings?

  27. I was just.referring back to your Watch full episodes site and from seasons 2 thru 7 there are 20 or more episodes per season, so therefore the 10 that start in April have to be just half a season right? The next ten will b a little later, right? We have been loyal from day one and it would be sure nice to know what's up. Hope you can help. Thanks!

  28. Season four there were FOURTY episodes, just sayin.:(

    ReplyDelete
  29. I definitely agree that the seasons are getting shorter and it is a little bit disappointing initially, but we should be grateful that we have a season to watch. I would much rather have new episodes 10-12 weeks each year instead of seeing the show come to an end. The newest episodes should be very interesting, it is a new season of life for all of the Duggars.

  30. It is easy to criticize when we are looking on the outside instead of standing the persons shoes.

  31. The seasons are short and it seems TLC only airs them at 30 minute intervals while some of the other programs are an hour. Wonder why. The best way to submit feedback to TLC is through the following link. Discovery is the parent company of TLC. Would prefer more normal moments instead of staged activities. http://corporate.discovery.com/contact/viewer-relations/

  33. Hi Lily and Ellie,

This is off topic, but I thought you might want to know that Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger were interviewed by People.com about their book coming out on March 4. Here's the link to the interview: http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20789172,00.html

  34. I am absolutely excited for April 1st to get here!!!! Our family LOVES the Duggars. I cant stand that TLC can air months of weekly episodes of nothing but JUNK, but cant air more than 8-10 episodes of something the whole family can watch and get encouragement of faith from. Anyway, looking forward to seeing the show again, FINALLY!!!

  35. ONLY TEN EPISODES?! *wails* :(

    ReplyDelete
  36. @Anonymous
They are not showing every moment of their life. They are only showing the highlights and the special things they do. There is plenty of time that is NOT seen in which Michelle is the "mom". Just because an older sibling helps out doesn't mean they are raising the younger ones. I see the older ones having plenty of time to pursue their own careers and interests.

  37. In season 3 thru 7 there we're 20 plus episodes, in season 4 there were 40. Is this season cut in half and we will c more later on? And are the 10 episodes and hour long? If you girls can't find find out then can you suggest a way I can, I have tried to with no avail. Thank you for all you do for us loyal fans, we really appreciate you girls. ;~}

  38. Does anyone know if TLC will release season 6 on DVD? Are they not putting the seasons on DVD anymore? I don't have cable and sometimes just like to turn on the show for encouragement.

    Hi Anonymous 38,

Seasons of reality TV shows have been getting shorter across the board, as have the breaks between seasons, so it's not just "19 Kids and Counting." TLC welcomes viewer feedback. Here's the link if you would like to send them a message: http://corporate.discovery.com/contact/viewer-relations/

  42. Wow! It is clear that those who criticize Michelle for not taking care of her kids have never been in a large family. There are older ones who can't wait to care and help the younger ones. No one wants a doll when there are real babies around. Please be careful and consider what counts for eternity.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Cheryl, you are correct some girls are so excited to get new baby in the family & would rather play mommy with a real baby. My husband came from a family larger then the Duggars & some of his siblings love kids & babies & some decided after growing up in a large family they wanted no kids. The Duggars assigning everyone a buddy and very taxing juristrictions (chores x20) I think is the issue. While some of the daughters most likely love having a buddy, does every child want a buddy & the responsibilities? Most likely not. Having to have a buddy or take on a large role in child care, like head of home schooling , should be a choice not an assignment. It is one thing if they are shopping & Michelle says watch your sister , that is normal, it is another thing to have to take care of that sister needs everyday, all day. I hope the new season addresses more about what the older kids role are. The Duggars always say "new season of life". I want to know know that Jill & Jana work outside the home, are they still buddies or have juristrictions? What are Joesph, Josiah, Jinger, and Jessa doing? All finish with home school but no mention of college, jobs, or anything other then hobbies.

  44. God Bless your wonderful family!! I've enjoyed many hours watching your television show and gaining a lot of useful information on keeping my own children close as they grow up and get on with their own lives. Just my own opinion here, but if your lifestyle makes you happy and you feel it's right, this is America and it is your freedom of choice to do what you feel is right. I wish you much happiness and health in your lives. Thank you again for being an inspiration to me.

  46. I would still like to see more of the Bates. TLC has gotten to the point of nothing but trash shows and brides. How many bride shows do we need. Its the same subject picking out dresses and all the families making fun. Enough already!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I was going to put something like there's only ten episodes but I realized there's no reason to complain Lily and Ellie are answering our questions it not there fault that they don't make it longer.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Disagree very much with the poster who suggested there should be less of Josh and Anna at home. They, too, are an inspiration, and Anna seems like a good and Godly wife and mom (also Josh a husband and father.) The episodes that show them at home are some of my favorites. :)

  49. Surely Jessa and Ben will not be made to wait until 2019 to be married!

  50. I am so happy they are coming back ,Love this family i have been watching this show since they built there house they live in now,

    ReplyDelete
  51. Heads is way to small to be married I think they should take it slow. 30 is a great age not in the 20-25. God bless

  52. Why are they in a hurry to be married

  53. I live in phoenix az and would like to meet them. "maybe I can courtship one of the guys I'm 20 years old :)

  54. Only 10 Episodes is disappointing! I watch cuz it inspires me & makes me feel good! Some Q are good on here, why no college? Outside jobs? Who helped them dress more fashionably? Early shows they're not so fashionable. Why did Michelle get braces and teeth whitened? Isn't vanity a sin?
Still love the show, watch it daily!
