"It's not always easy to get along with 18 siblings"

Growing Up Duggar is set to release on March 4th. Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger Duggar have been diligently working on their first book for over two years, and it is finally finished.

"It's not always easy to get along with 18 siblings," the four oldest Duggar girls write.

Growing Up Duggar gives readers an inside look at what it's like to be a Duggar kid, as the girls discuss their perspectives on faith, family, friends, pop culture, and boys. As they look at the different relationships in their lives, the girls share how they resolve conflict with their parents and siblings, their dreams and plans for the future, details on courtship vs. dating, and much more.

"We want to get acquainted with a young man in a normal family setting, where we'll be watching how he treats our brothers and sisters," they write. "We want to see how he reacts to normal family events, such as Josie accidentally spilling her milk in his lap, Jackson unintentionally ruining his board game or Joseph trouncing him in a basketball match."

Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger also talk about self-esteem and how important it is to "accept the girl in the mirror."

The girls--ages 24, 22, 21, and 20--are preparing for their futures. Jessa is in a courtship with Ben Seewald of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and it's only a matter of time before the others follow suit. Like Josh and Anna, Ben and Jessa have purposed to save their first kiss for the altar.

"It is sweet as a mom to watch Jessa go through this," Michelle Duggar told People Magazine. "She and Ben are open to encourage others who may be considering relationships that you can stay morally pure and wait for the one God has for you and then on your wedding day, begin the physical aspects of your relationship."

Growing Up Duggar can be pre-ordered on Christan Book, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble.

  1. Are Ben and Jessa definitely getting married?!

  2. I really like the Duggars and aprreciate a lot of their attitudes. I am a bit worried though, if the big girls are not setting to high expactations on their futures. Nobody is perfect and everyone needs forgiveness. Spouses learn through with each other on the way. Does the future spouse have to be perfect on the spot?

  5. I suspect this book is full of stories, opinions and comments we have all heard or read in other media. I just can't imagine these four girls being allowed to write honestly about growing up in the Duggar family.

  9. Hi! I saw recently that Ken Ham posted a picture of him on his Facebook page with Jim Bob and Michelle. Thought you might be interested in this. (If you don't know who Ken Ham is, he is a major creationist who is the founder of Answers in Genesis) Would love to see the picture in a blog post. :)

  10. It is wonderful that there is such a positive Christian book for girls and guys, which provides good, modern, real life examples for youth to learn from. The delineation between Christian and non Christian behavior seems to be growing more clear in the media largely because of the courageous step to make their lives public that the Duggar family has taken. THANK-YOU to the Duggars!

  11. AMEN! Do u ever wonder y the classy, nice, & positive role model reality shows get more negative comments than the disturbing, classless, & I'll mannered shows? Is it really that difficult saying something nice rather than malitious?I have learned my lesson the hard way when I ventured on another unsafe site, and was TOTALLY shocked, mortified, sad, and angry at the filth and total hatred some people have towards people who have different beliefs.I am thankful for the Duggars and their ministry and for Lilly and Ellie for this fun loving and secure site.I am really happy right now and I can't wait for the new season to begin. Bless you all! Godspeed! Sincerely, Natalie from Nebraska

  16. News flash. Duggars are not perfect. Nary an argument shown on TV, but this hidden article shows what we see on TV is not....perfect? Never, ever, ever do you on their shows any discord, except for a few minor blips such as young Jackson bopping to secular music. Erin Bates over-the-top pink bedroom, which is shared by her husband in agreement of it, and the husband's little boy decorated guest bedroom, shows me these girls and boys dream of the day they have their own space to be lived in as individuals and not as a dorm.
