19 kittens and counting? The Duggars recently welcomed a few new members to their family. Okay, so they don't have quite nineteen, but the title sure is catching. Back in June, the kids rescued a mama cat and her kittens while doing construction on a building. One thing led to another, and the Duggars ended up adopting the cats and bringing them home to join their other two felines.
Michelle writes the following in her latest TLC Parentables post: The kittens were just a week old, so at first I stayed up through the night feeding them...Jeremiah, Jedidiah, Justin, Joy-Anna, James, and Jason all researched what the kittens needed --like how much stimulation to give them and how often they needed to be fed.
Recalling the kittens that she cared for as a child, nineteen-year-old Jessa eagerly took on the challenge of daytime feedings and patiently showed her younger siblings the ropes.
She was stepping back at times, not taking complete authority of the situation, but letting them learn. It's just really great when you see your older children encouraging their brothers and sisters in life, helping them to understand what it is to be responsible and caring.

ReplyDeleteNo, we don't and I don't want any :)
ReplyDeleteNone right now. We have had hamsters, birds, fish, and a snail in the past.
ReplyDeleteyes we ahve a guineapig
ReplyDeleteAny pics of the kitties?
ReplyDeletewe have three cats and maybe one more! we love cats!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the Duggars still have a dog?, I don't remember having seen one, but I remember in the beginning they did, or their pantry had bags of dog food.
ReplyDelete9 chickens, 15 rabbits, 2 cats, and 2 temporary mice. =) Yeah, we have some pets. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe have a dog 6 guinea pigs and 2 hamsters and they really teach children how to care for others.
ReplyDeleteWe have a stray cat that has adopted us (we dragged our heels about doing anything for him - we didn't want one, but now I worry about him when he's not home) named Reilly. A painted turtle named Tod (who is a girl, but was named after the fox in The Fox and the Hound), and a very stubborn Eastern Box Turtle who won't eat named Franklin.
ReplyDeletePictures please!! I love cats! :)
ReplyDeleteAw! That is so nice of them to adopt and rescue them! I have a cat, two dogs, three guinea pigs, a parakeet and a cockatiel. I used to have hamsters and fish but they died unfortunately. I've also rescued orphaned baby raccoons and rabbits. I work at the local animal shelter and it's so hard not to bring all the animals there home!
ReplyDeleteyeah. i used to have a cat, but i have dog now
ReplyDeleteSo Sweet!
ReplyDeleteWe have 2 dogs!
~Alaina~
I have 2 guinea pigs, 2 chickens, 1 bird and my younger brother has a fish.
ReplyDeleteBunnies, ducks, chickens and cows! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have three dogs and two cats. One of the dogs is much younger than the other two and has so much more energy! It is so funny sometimes to see how they interact together.
ReplyDeleteRight now my family owns a sweet mutt that we adopted from the shelter. We used to own several goldfishes and betta, but not any more.
ReplyDeleteYes, we did have 2 kittens in the past, but for right now we do not have any. Lily and Ellie, do you the names of all the Duggar cats? If you do, could you post them on the blog?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Rebecca
We have two dogs and that is plenty. I think a family can have too many pets (but not too many children). The reason I say that is because if a family wants to be hospitable, they will think about guest they have over. Most guests do not like a bunch of animals underfoot in a home.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lopped earred part angora rabbit! He's 8 now and blind but he finds his way around! We love our Bosco dearly!
ReplyDeleteI love the Duggars, but I wonder what their stance on spay/neuter is?
ReplyDeleteWe have a gorgeous purebred applehead Siamese. Also saltwater fish: Clown fish, Tangs etc. Fresh water tetras and a twin tail Siamese fighting fish that's over 1 year old.
ReplyDeleteYes. Right now we have 2 cats we adopted as kittens from shelters. Before the cats we had a string of unusual pets--like 6 snakes, 2 scorpions, and an iguana. We also have had more "normal" pets like a hamster, a bunny, and a dog.
ReplyDeleteI love our cats, but they haven't satisfied my need for an animal that is unconditionally loving, so I believe we'll also add another dog in the next couple of years. :-)
I have two cats and a little pom dog. They are the loves of my life. I did have three cats, but, sadly, I had to put down my cat Knuckles when he was 17. He had cancer. It was the hardest thing I had to do. I have lost friends, grand parents, and that hurt, but oddly putting my cat down hurt even more. I think it was more difficult because I had to make the decision for him. I hope God has a place for our pets in heaven. I think he does. He has made us our their care takers here on earth. Why would he not allow them in to heaven?
ReplyDeleteChickens, rabbit, cats, budgerigar, cockatiel, and fish at the moment. In the past we've had guinea pigs and mice.
ReplyDeleteIn the past few years we have had 9 dogs, 4 cats, 2 rabbits, 1 horse, and we've had countless fish. I'm an animal lover so that was all okay with me!:) I think this is an awesome opportunity for the Duggar family. Having pets is a great way to learn about responsiblity. Thanks again Lily and Ellie for keeping us all posted!!!
ReplyDeleteIvey
Will the Duggars have the cats spayed or neutered? What is the difference between all God's creation and how do the Duggars explain why cats should be spayed and neutered?
ReplyDeleteI am glad they are caring for these little kittens! They were created by God too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lily and Ellie for the videos of the Bates family! You ladies are awesome! God Bless!
ReplyDeleteOh that was too funny! Carlin is soooo bad!! Was that guy one of their tv anouncers? I hope the egg came off their floor!
