As a homeschooling mom, Michelle Duggar is always looking to turn everyday situations into learning experiences for her children. To teach her children about the world around them, the mom of many schedules field trips near their home in Arkansas, across the country, and around the world.

Where do the Duggars go for field trips? Last fall, the family took the ultimate field trip to Ireland, England, Scotland, and Israel. They recently visited an eye clinic, which, according to Michelle, was fascinating. They have also been to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama; the George Washington Carver monument; and the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. But their favorite excursion (in the United States) is Washington D.C.

You could spend weeks there if you had the opportunity. It's just so amazing to go from building to building and see the Smithsonian, the landmarks and the monuments. I recommend it highly.

Can you name other locations/attractions that the Duggars have visited?

ReplyDeleteThey ought to visit Old World Wisconsin in Eagle WI! They'd love it!
ReplyDeleteNew York City, the girls went to Chicago, paning for gold, Disneyland
ReplyDeleteThe Creation Museum near Cincinnati, OH
ReplyDeleteHaha awesome my grandpa helped start Old World Wisconsin !!!! They should def visit !!!
ReplyDeleteI love how they make learning so real for their children by taking them on so many different trips. It saddens me how cruel some people's comments are (on the site where the article is posted). This family is an inspiration and do not deserve such scorn.
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity, I wonder how many field trips and places they went before TLC came into the picture and decided to pay for their field trips?? I don't think this is even remotely feasible for the average family. We can't afford to go on any field trips outside of business travel. Fortunately, we are able to make our business travels into somewhat of a field trip when we get a chance.
ReplyDeleteTo anonymous- that is neat! Old world wisconsin is so cool. I could live in the German houses! And the Finnish....nah, all of them!
ReplyDeleteOne of the first episodes I watched was their trip to a ostrich farm near their home. I loved that one! Also all the places they saw on their trip to the West Coast. Loved that one too.
ReplyDeleteNASHVILLE TN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where I live=)
ReplyDeletePeople's comments are not cruel in that they wonder how much money has changed the Duggars and how much money has affected their ability to do what they do. Comments are cruel that question people's right to question this. Look up Manna in the Bible.
ReplyDeleteNot that the Duggars will ever live in the "real world," but if they ever had to, they would have a very difficult time adapting to it. As you and I (or most of us) are required to be at a certain place at a certain time (school, work, etc.), the Duggars by their own admission function on "Duggar time." Well, Duggar time is not acceptable to real world jobs and real world school, etc. While the Duggar home schooling progam allows for variable time periods each day, real world schooling requires strict time periods each day, etc. God said to go out into the world; not to isolate ourselves from it.
ReplyDeleteThere are many of us, anonymous, who believe that children are just that, children, and through homeschooling allow them to flourish with creativity, imagination and interest-based learning and hands-on experiences. Can anyone say, honestly, that institutionalized schooling, which is a very recent phenomenon, with it's military like "you must be on this page at this time" and "stand when we tell you" "go to the bathroom only when we tell you" does anything to foster real growth and love of learning in our children? I am an experienced educator and believe that homeschooling is the future. It is what our founders had, and they were some of the best, brightest and independent thinkers in history!
ReplyDeleteI would love to take my kids to all of those places but we aren't on a tv show
ReplyDeleteCathy, what a silly comment. You don't need a tv show to go to those places. That comment wasnt productive in the slightest. I'm lower income and I've been on 2 week long cruises, have an annual pass to Disney world, a beautiful apartment and my husband and I travel a ton! We are in our mid 20s and we do all that while putting money in savings and no help from govt programs we also have 3 kids so don't say you can't do those things bc you don't have a tv show! You can do it if you really want to! Just takes a little planning!
