  12. I really Praise God for such a Christian family as the Duggars. They light up my life each day here on the blog and also on their programs on TLC. To see the children follow their parents in walking the Christian life is so encourging...I was wondering if ther know about the program sponsered by Readers Digest about learning Spanish (other languages) I wait for the blog tomorrow...Phyllis in NC

  15. The girls' answers are so depressing.

  16. thanks for letting me know. But michelle and Jim bob need to let their children go and experience the world for themselves. why can't they go to real college. we need to trust God for our kids lives not hide them in the house.

  17. I don't understand how the girls answers are depressing. When I compare all the things I have done (teaching, university admin, world travel, living and working in Europe) with being a wife and mother, i can say without a doubt being a mother has been the most challenging, life changing and joyful path.

  18. Okay, so some of the girls what to be wives and mothers, but none of the boys mention being husbands and fathers. Double standard or what?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Andrea: I thought the same thing--no mention of being a dad or husband from any of the boys. I don't see how Josh plans to go to law school while (1) world traveling, (2) owning and running car lots, (3) raising babies, and (4) on the road doing political campaigning. The "college" they attend (on-line) is the equivalent of a GED in lieu of a high-school diploma. If I ever need a lawyer, I sure wouldn't want one that got his degree over the Internet!

  20. Judge not lest ye yourself are judged also ;-) no really what difference does it make to us their readers if the girls aspire to be mums and wives praise God we all had one, and to have one that reveres the Lord! You go girls aim high in the Lord.

Or what about their education as a consumer it is your right to choose what service provider you use. But there is none beside God you may be surprised when we take our finite eyes off of this and see from Gods perspective there is no- thing we cannot do when the creator of all things is our teacher.

    Blessings to your family

  23. I appreciate the Duggars sharing their grief with the world. I think it is important to remind people of the importance of one tiny life. In a world where we debate abortion rights, it's good to see how precious that one life was. Jubilee was loved before she was born. Most media glosses over the value of one tiny life. The photographs and the funeral serve to point out the grief that many women feel over the loss of even a baby this tiny. The whole Duggar family lifestyle is a demonstration of what our priorities should be.
Thank you for sharing your grief with the world. JoAnn

  24. I think the Duggars are a great family. They have strong beliefs and values they teach their family which every family does. People shouldn't criticize how they raise their family! I give them a whole lot of respect for doing a great job raising that many children and still giving back to the community at the same time. God bless that family and the loss they just went through. God has Jubilee now and she is at peace!

    1. How is it ok for all of us to veg out and watch them on tv, but they are too good to watch tv and they are making huge profits from tv?

How quickly you forget TLC finished and furnished their house for them?

  25. I think they are wonderful dream, I love Anna's the most. I think girls dream of familys a lot more then boys. That could be why they didnt mention it. I also think Josh would be an awesome lawyer. Fair and hard working. I love that some of them are into photograpghy because thats what I love to do.

  26. What an interesting list, thank you for sharing! Where did you find these goals from? Was it TLC's site, the Duggar's site, or somewhere else?

  27. @Stephanie

    Stephanie,

The Duggars have never said that they are "too good to watch TV." Jim Bob and Michelle admit that after hooking up the cable during their second year of marriage, they were glued to it, and their communication dropped off. That is when they made the decision to get rid of TV. They encourage people to take a TV fast and reevaluate their priorities.

The Duggars spent several years and thousands of hours building their house. TLC gave them a grand piano as a gift, and perhaps a few other small things, but the Duggars did most of the work on their own. They started building their house BEFORE TLC offered them a weekly spot on reality TV. From start to finish, everything was paid for with cash.

  28. I just wanted to say a few things about the duggars. they have strong values, which as the freedoom we so care about allows to have and share ,they believe in things many have forgotten about , like the importance of a mother and wife, the importance of saving yourself for the rigth man not just giving it away like many young women sadly now do,they believe in so many things other people critize ,just because is out there, in the open, I think before anyone said something they should picture their lifes, if it other's could see it, would it be so perfect that no one would critize it? I doubt it ,for the is only one perfect, God, that is it. we rest of humans are not perfect, we live as best we can, we love, we share and we try but we make many mistakes, nobody is free from learning along the way, but I love watching their familly because it has changed me, in many ways, I understand why they " hide" if that is the world, what mother would not love to keep her child safe?? how many people move to keep their family in a safer city, a safer house,if I could I would move where they live, life is simple, nicer and you don't have to worry about crime, that sounds wonderfull to me, but I can't ,so I worry, everyday when my lil boy goes to school I worry, when my daugther goes out in the world I will worry to grey hairs everyday ,that she could be raped, killed ,attacked or bullied, I worry, michelle duggar is choosing to not have to worry 100 percent ,maybe just a 20, how do you critize that? is peace of mind so forgotten that how dare they? maybe people now believe peace of mind is so nonexistant ,that when people live like they do ,they simply don't understand, I know peeople that believe strongly that birth control should be left up to God, if that is their desire, there is nothing wrong with that, they do it on their own, with no goverment assistance, no food stamps and they contribute ,michelle duggar has said several times that even though they homeschool they are glad that their taxes money go to improve public schools, simply they chose not to use it, but they have nothing against it, is simply a choice, on their own rigth ,time and money, the girls dream of being a mother and wife, most girls do but women are told so often that unless you have a degree and a job you are not an equal that dream has faded ,is sad, people will congratulate someone for achieven a success in their carrer but nobody makes a big deal of the 24/7 job stay at home moms do, 365 days a year no lunch break, no pay and no benefits other than love to give and recieve, many stay at home moms we try our best to raise our kids in a world that is not always fair and welcoming ,growing up with a carrer oriented mother made me want to be a stay at home mom,is choices, doing what you feel fits you, people like to blame everyone but what they did ,people like to lift the finger and critize everything they can, but that comes with freedoom too, so at the end is about living your life how you believe it works for you, letting other's do the same, do what works for them and not say that is wrong, michelle duggar encourages me, it changed my views on a lot of things ,specially made me wish I had to waited for my husband, how more special would that have been, is what I plan on teaching my children, and we watch the duggars, we don't agree on everything, for I for example think nothing beats a romantic slow dance with the husband, they do not believe in dancing, I'm I gona turn around and critize them for it? no, never .because that is their belief ,that simple, and if you don't agree that strongly, simply change the channel and surf to another website, yup it is that simple, thank you

  29. I want to be wife and mother simple because the Bible says the wife is to be the keeper of the home. How can she do that while she is working from morning to night? Her house will always be dirty and her children will hardly see her. I saw a despairing sight yesterday at Chick-fil-a. A mother and daughter came in got their food and ate it without saying ONE WORD to each other! The girl had just gotten out of school, so they missed some serious mother and daughter time. My goal is to be a stay at home mom, and keeper of the home. I am not worried about college and all that. I don't want to go. And my parent's are not forcing me to.
