Discussion Question

What do you admire most about the Duggar family?

77 comments:

  1. Their dedication to the Lord. The wholesomeness and innocence that their kids display. Two factors that barely exist in today's society. Their service to others. Most importantly, Michelle and Jim Bob's devotion to each other and their children.
These are the things I most admire about the Duggars.

  2. I think the most amazing thing to me is how they all seem to like each other and always speak highly of their family...
also how well-behaved the children are... not one of them seems to be a problem "prodigal child"... I always try to look for little parenting tips in the episodes so I can incorporate them with my kids.

  3. I admire how they treat their siblings and parents with love and how they put others before themselves. I am most inspired by Mrs. Duggar’s way of correcting and disciplining. She does not blow up or get angry; instead, she is patient, kind, loving, and caring.

  4. I admire the Duggar's non-judgmental attitude. They talk about why they do what they do, but never judge others.

  5. I admire that they have strong convictions and they aren't afraid to stand up for their beliefs, despite much criticism. I also admire the fact that they can be so faithful and trusting in God, despite tragedy and sadness that come their way at times. Of course, I love their household and all the fun it is to have such a large family.

  6. I admire the Duggars because they are true to their beliefs. They never seem to get frustrated or angry and never complain. Their household is full of love and you can actually feel that by watching them just once. -Happy New Year!-Sandy

  7. I admire the way they stand up for what they believe in the face of so much criticism. They never publicly retaliate to what can only be described as hateful comments on some sites.
They are a good example of a godly family who build their life on God's principles.
They love God, each other and those around them which is what we are all commanded to do.

  8. That they teach their children "God" first, "Others" second, and "Themselves" last. Amazing!..and they look like they are doing a well job at it.
    Happy New Year!

  9. That they live their lives with a ministry mind set. They not only are steadfastly focused on serving Jesus but they accomplish His will by being lights in the world, and it's very inspiring and encouraging to watch.

  10. Is anyone on this blog a Catholic? I am, and I just wish the Duggar's would look into it. They are so strong in the Lord, they just need to realize which is the true Church established by Jesus Christ at the time of the first Christians. Please leave me a comment and agree if you are Catholic PLEASE!Thanks! :) Oh, by the way the best thing about the Duggar's is their love of children and most of all their love of God.

  11. is that they dont care what other people say about them

  12. The thing I admire most about the Duggar family is their standards! You CANNOT FIND ONE show on tv where the people would have such GODLY standards. Whether it be in dress or whatever! That is one of the MANY things I admire the Duggars for! The Duggar Family is a GREAT EXAMPLE to WATCH and FOLLOW! Thank you for not being ashamed of what you believe, because IT IS RIGHT!!!

  13. There are so many show's out there that will add extra 'stuff' in order to boost ratings, while the duggars keep it clean and appropriate.

  14. The Duggar's put God first in their family and I feel like that is why they are so blessed. They are kind caring people raising well behaved, kind, caring children.God bless them, they are an inspiration for those of us who follow the family.

  15. What I admire most about the Duggars is the way they have raised their children and continue to raise them. The results are obvious: a large family of polite, well-behaved children who all help out without complaining and who can have a lot of fun and enjoy their life without all the expensive toys that most kids require. I admire the parents' dedication & courage toward raising their children according to THEIR values, even though they may be surrounded by a society who frowns on their beliefs. To see such a large family who all genuinely care about helping others and do their part in the community is a rare & wonderful thing today.

  16. What DON'T I admire!? This family is what every family should strive to be! The love they have for LIFE and for each other, is just admirable. The Duggar's are my heroes...xoxo

  17. I admire the Duggars because they make Christ a part of their everyday life. And I love it that Michelle has learned to never raise her voice. Very admirable :)

  18. I think it is wonderful in such a large family that they can get along and work together. I love seeing the older kids start taking over the food shopping, teaching school to the little ones, and can look after the whole family without the parents- wow
I hope they come back for another season?

  19. What I love most about the Duggars is that they know the Word of God and simply obey!
To Miss Grace, the true church set up by the Lord Jesus consists of those who place God first in their lives, who love Him, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and His redemptive work on the cross. It is all of us who pray, read His word and obey...Catholic or Protestant.

  20. I admire the way the fruits of the Spirit shine through in all aspects of Michelle's life. The "love, joy, peace, patience ..... are so evident in all she does.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow, where could I begin? :-) I truly admire the selfless attitude that they all have, even the younger children! I also greatly admire how patient and loving Michelle and Jim Bob are with their children. I wish I could be more like them. I do try, every day, that's for sure. And of course, their deep and unwavering faith is incredibly inspiring to me.

    ReplyDelete
  22. They are my inspiration!! I only have 7 kids and feel overwhelmed so many times, but looking at the Duggars and the way they run their household is my motivation. I admire how they have raised 19 kids who love God and each other so much. If only I could do half as good... I will keep trying!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I admire the Duggars for how they live their faith & do so publicly, despite their critics. I think they turn the other cheek & pray for their critics. I am a Catholic, but I deeply respect the Duggars for living their faith & belief in the teachings of Jesus. I know too many people of different faiths who pick & choose what parts of their faith they believe & practice. I also admire how they have raised their children to help out at home-wish I had heard about the Dugggars when my 6 were little!

  24. I'm Catholic too and I like the Duggars. I wish far more Catholics would act like them. I like about them what was said before, that they stand up for what they believe in despite criticisms, especially not using artificial contraception. I think the girls are pretty too and like that they dress modestly.

  27. I really love the way they all interact with one another. I don't know if I've ever heard a harsh word between them (other than maybe between the littles). I really admire their team spirit and all the love they have in their family.

  28. I think that the Duggers are a great family because they live their love for God...One of the things that they say "That they believe that children are a gift from God" rings so true to me.

  29. I admire the fact that they are 'real' Christians. Not 'Christian' by the worlds terms. i.e. Catholic, Mormon...etc

I also love how real they are. There are NO fakes in that family!

  30. I admire how Jim Bob and Michelle have tried hard to model the character of God in their lives, and that the success God has given them in that desire has resulted in amost two quivers full of children and grandchildren, who truly love God and one another. Sure there have to be conflicts among such a rockin' household of different persons. The difference is that they have/do/will be learning to resolve them together before God and come to reconcilation and not estrangement. Jim Bob and Michelle manage the family's temporal needs and finances very effectively. Some folk feel like they breathe more than their share of air, and use more resources than they are "entitled" to use. Personally I see that they are able to find the stuff that other folk, perhaps from much smaller families or much higher economic standards of living, consider unworthy leavings, and then turn the stuff into several more useful lives. One of my pet sayings is that if the Lord sends a baby to a family, He intends to provide for the life He has created and which its parents are ordained to raise him/her up into the "bent" God hardwired into the child. I don't see a single cookie-cutter hanging off any Duggar offspring anywhere. God's blessing upon each and every in 2012. Shalom!

  36. To Miss Jessica: Jesus set up the Church before He left the earth as the One True Church Of Jesus Christ. Only the Catholic Church has the marks of the true Church: One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. You could not find all 4 of these attributes in any other Church where Jesus is Lord. I will respect your religious beliefs but hope that you consider my comments. I'm only trying to save souls here! I know Jesus will be very proud of me :)You also must consider the Sacraments which the Catholic Church still holds which Jesus established. Without these Sacraments, salvation is impossible. For example, without the sacrament of reconciliation through a Catholic priest, mortal sins cannot be forgiven. Also, if you die with the stain of mortal sin on your soul you cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven. If you read through the Book of Acts(please do so)you will see sacraments in hidden form. Thanks! I'll pray for you! keep me posted!
To everyone who said they were Catholic: Thanks! You're the best!I'm not alone here! Luv ya! :)

I could go on and on ...probably for hours!!!

  38. I admire how real they are and how fame has not changed them like most TV stars! I admire the faith they have in Jesus! I also admire how the family is so close to each! They have a cool show that is wholesome!

  39. I admire their high level of organization and the way they work as a team. Everyone seems to know what they're supposed to be doing when to make the house and their lives run smoothly. I do, however, worry that the older girls are given too much maternal responsibility. They are teenagers and are being too parentified. I'm just saying.

  41. I strongly admire their faith in Jesus and how they have put themselves and their faith in the public eye to minister to others. They have faced a lot of nasty criticism, but they always look to God and have the right response. They have greatly impacted my life and the lives of my family, helped to save our marriage, and strengthen our walk with God. They have been an example of how we should be act as Christians in a variety of situations. We had the miraculous privelege of meeting them this past week (a dream of mine!!) and they are truly who they are on TV. There is no acting. What you see is what you get.

  42. So many things! I just have to say two that continuously stand out to me.

    1. They live out what they feel is best for them and their children and do not live to please the world or people around them...while simutaneously loving, not judging and caring for those who live differently than them.

    2. They treat their children with respect, young or old. I think this is a concept widely missed in our society. Adults are to be respected, children aren't seems to be what's mostly lived out in the world today.

I just really glean so much from the Duggars and appreciate so many things about them!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I admire the mannerisms of their children and how they all come together as a family. I love the fact that they r dedicated to the lord and are saving themselves for marriage. I love michelle's parenting style and how they are debt free..I love the fact that all the children have jurisdictions and they love to help their parents as well as others. I love the fact that their minds are not polluted with anything derogatory from tv or bad people..Michelle and jim bob, keep up the good work..wish I could go back and change things with my children.

  44. I admire how the Duggars are patient and loving toward their children.
I admire so much about them, but that is probably the thing I admire most about them. Because you can say nice things to someone, but if you don't act on them, it doesn't matter. The Duggars actions are a reflection of their words.

  45. I admire a lot of things about the Duggars. I admire their dedication to the Lord. I also admire how all of the kids get along so well. They all seem to love each other. They are a big happy family.

  48. I admire them because they remind me so much of my immediate family. My grandparents also had 20 kids (12 girls and 8 boys) they believed in a close knit family. Nearly 6o years after their marriage, The Bolton Family has blossomed to 20 kids 137 grandchildren, 45 great grands... And we meet at least once a year to celebrate our family... having such a large family is remarkable and I wouldn't trade it for all the oil in the middle east... Duggars if u want to take a peak in ur future u should meet the Bolton's you will be amazed... quentinwatts80@gmail.com

  51. This is one of the only places I can go to read about the Duggars and not see offensive things posted. However, there are some previous comments on here that I DO find offensive (seeing as how I'm Christian and Baptist by denominations and know without a SHADOW OF A DOUBT that I WILL be in heaven when I die). Please don't let this blog turn into all of the other websites Duggar related. :(

  52. Hi Charlene (and Grace),

It was man (not God) who broke Christianity into different denominations. If we all just followed the Bible and focused on faith instead of religion, we would be able to accomplish so much more.

Charlene, we are sorry that you are offended. We do our best to delete vulgar comments, and we put a lot of time and thought into deciding which ones to post.

  54. Lily & Ellie,

I apologize if I implied that me being offended was your fault. It is not anyone's fault. Simply a statement I was making. I think you guys do a great job with this blog which is why I choose to come back again and again. And I agree wholeheartedly with your comment about focusing on the Bible and not denominations.

All I meant with my comment was to remind everyone here that we come here to get updates on the Duggars and make friends with others who have that interest. I do not believe this blog is meant to divide, but rather to unify us as Duggar fans. I just hope everyone will be a little more careful with their words. The question we were answering was what we liked about the Duggars...and not who is/isn't apart of the "true church.

Romans 10:13 says, "for "EVERYONE who calls on the name of the Lord WILL be saved."

    God bless.

  59. I admire the Duggar family the most because they live by the bible & it inspires me because I truly believe they are a perfect example of how we all should be living life. I can see so clearly how God is at work in their lives because they put HIM 1st. Also with God all things are possible think about how theres a sense of peace w/so many kids. Other shows w/just 3 or 4 is out of control. That shows u that God is real. May God keep blessing them & u all!!!

As a parent to toddlers I love to see how Michelle Duggar disciplines with love and patience. I strive and pray that God will give me patience daily.

I love to hear Michelle talk and listen to the girls talk to each other and the little ones, the control in the actions and voice, you can tell by listening and watching the love the have for the Lord and the way they have been raised ~ I am so envious of this ~ listening to them talk is almost like a sweet music ♥

  68. I love the fact that the Duggars love The Lord and are immovable when it comes to the compromises that the world wants us to make. Jim Bob and Michelle have taught their children well according to the bible and how to live each day to please The Lord. I love to see how they work with each other as a Christian family minus the tv and Internet influences.
We wish their family continued of love and happiness where ever The Lord takes them.
Thank you for providing us all with episodes of your wonderful family's day to day lives.

I am from a catholic background. My husband is from a baptist and evangelical background. I think that its Christianity that matters. The pushing and pulling between christians who believe that one is the "real" Christianity has been incredibly harmful.I live in Ireland so I see it abused in the fighting in the north of Ireland.ultimatly whatever the title churches try to apply rules to help people live in a christian faith. Its the same God and bible.Thats what matters.

  70. I like that they keep to their spiritual backbone. If no one else doesn't stand for God's will for the family unit, then who will. I'm a Christian and stand with Duggar's in their moral beliefs. God bless your family.

  72. I know you all probably don't check the comments on Facebook but I really hope that you or someone close to you read this and pass along the message. I absolutely adore your family. Like so much that I feel like my family is a part of your family. In a sense we are because both of our families serve the Father. So that makes us blood (the blood of Jesus) brothers and sisters in Christ. :) I've been watching your shows since 14 kids and pregnant. At first I didn't understand you all but as my family grew our family has learned so much from your family. We're a young African American family from Detroit, MI. We have 3 kids and we watch your show as a family. Since watching the show, we're learning about entrepreneurship, buying used and saving the difference, and we've also tried many recipes. Our favorite is tator tot casserole. :) We love your passion for Christ. We know that no family is perfect and I love the way how you all stand firm in only airing the positive things. I love how modest, organized and well mannered your family is. I love how Jim Bob and Michelle love eachother and how it's a ripple effect along the kids. I really appreciate you all for sharing your life on National TV in such a wicked world. People are really watching and learning. The next time you go out on tour please consider making one of your spots and Detroit. Please don't be afraid of all of the negative things you hear. Our Downtown is now world class and for the elite. You'll also love our Riverfront. Please consider it. Google Downtown Detroit. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Thank you and God Bless.

  73. Idk what you are trying to say about the 400 yrs, but the Catholics didn't write their bible.... it was written by the gospel writers and their predecessors such as Joshua, Elijah, etc. If you actually take time to read about this, you'll discover that the Bible was copied and distributed for centuries before the protestant reformation by monks and priests. If it hadn't been for those early monks and priests, you would have no Bible. All other denominations (orthodox, lutherans, anglicans, etc.) broke away from the catholic church.
