Thanksgiving with the Duggars

Two days until Thanksgiving! How do the Duggars celebrate Turkey Day?

Before dinner, each family member has to say something that he or she is thankful for.

"We go around the table, from the youngest to the oldest, to say one thing," explains Michelle in a People article. "You can't repeat what someone else has said they are thankful for, so it gets harder the longer it goes around."

"It's your meal ticket for dinner," adds Jim Bob.

At the Duggars' Thanksgiving table, pumpkin pie is a staple. With such a large family, they have an average of 15 pies! Below is a video that shows the baking process from a recent year.

Another holiday dish that Jim Bob and Michelle and the kids enjoy are homemade yeast rolls. You will find that recipe here.

Will you be celebrating Thanksgiving this Thursday?

  1. Yes, my family celebrates Thanksgiving every year. It is one of my favorite holidays. I like the peace and quite that accompanies Thanksgiving, unlike the hustle and bustle of Christmas. There is so much to be thankful for in the world and I think there shouldn't be just one day devoted to being thankful. We should be thankful everyday of the year. Remember that when you think your life is horrible, someone always has it worse than you. Lily and Ellie, Happy Thanksgiving! What will you be doing for Thanksgiving?

  6. I'm guessing they must have a bunch of extended family join them. 15 pies for 26 people (Grandma & Josh Duggar's family included) is a TON of pies!
