Michelle on a Healthy Pregnancy

What is Michelle doing to take care of herself, now that she is pregnant with her 20th child?

She and Jim Bob understand that having 19 children is not for everyone. "But we are open to receive whatever gifts God wants us to have," she tells People in a recent article. "And we are so excited and thrilled about this pregnancy."

Michelle is past the morning sickness stage and is feeling good. She has sought advice from experts and is consuming plenty of protein and greens. The mom of 19 is also working out on the elliptical for one-hour intervals, five to six days a week.

She is implicating into her diet the nutrition tips found in obstetrician Thomas H. Brewer's Metabolic Toxemia of Late Pregnancy.

"Brewer recommends a high protein intake for pregnant women, between 80 and 100 grams of healthy protein (lean meats, legumes, etc.) a day," writes Michelle in a recent blog post. "Literally every time I open my mouth I'm putting protein in my mouth. And then the remainder of my food is pretty much green vegetables with salt to taste."

Although Josie's premature birth was caused by preeclampsia, the Duggars note that Michelle experienced the same life-threatening disease during her second pregnancy. Jim Bob tells People Magazine: "If we had lived by fear after Michelle had preeclampsia after her second delivery, we would have missed out on all our wonderful blessings."

The Duggars eagerly await the day when they will find out the gender of their baby, which should be around Christmastime. Due to a cut made on her uterus during Josie's birth, Michelle will have a scheduled C-section with Baby #20.

  1. 19 Kids and Counting closed out season eight last night on TLC and the episode highlighted the Duggar family’s touching trip to Israel and Josie Duggar’s health issue while abroad. The expanded 60-minute show was fans’ last opportunity to catch the super-sized Duggar family on TLC in 2011.

I found this....I hope this is helpful...We will look forward to seeing them in 2012!
