  1. Always made snow ice cream growing up. Maybe it's an Arkansas thing?

Have used the same recipe as the Duggars and a few other variations. Our latest is the easiest - 1 can Eagle brand milk and a bit of vanilla mixed into a huge bowl of ice cream.

  2. We had it this past winter and the one before that. Snow is very uncommon in Texas, so it's a rare treat. We LOVE it!

  3. Last winter my mom made it and it was very good. Also onetime my friend was babysitting a little girl and she wanted snow icecream and we made it and put food coloring and as a joke we made some yellow snow icecream

  4. Yes, my dad used to make it when I was a very little girl. :) it was one of my fondest memories.

  5. I remember the big snow of 1973 in GA and my parents made it for us to have. I was a very fond memory of all of us together.

  6. Yes! I bought the Duggars' book and it was then winter and I made it; it worked! Oh, btw, for others who are cholesterol-conscious, yes, it DOES work with milk instead of cream. I couldn't tell the difference; taste-wise.

  7. I like snow ice cream. We usually don't have enough snow, however. But one time this past winter, we got lots of snow and made ice cream. It was my first time to have it. It tasted great...IF you scooped up a bite from the part of the bowl that had vanilla in it. Otherwise, you'd just get snow. :-/

  8. That sounds disgusting. Real snow? As in snow off the ground? as in snow that is full of yuck?

  9. Maybe it's because I am a life-long Floridian, but eating snow just seems gross to me. Judging from the comments, it's not weird to eat snow though. Since I've only seen snow twice in my 32 years of life, I'm sure it's just my own prejudices. :-D

  10. Yes, snow on the ground...they had over two feet of snow so there was plenty of snow that wasn't actually ON the ground so it was just frozen water (as in, that's what snow is - just frozen precipitation). I grew up in CT and have eaten plenty of snow in my time (I'm 41 now) and haven't suffered any damage from it. I live in Florida now and miss the snow terribly.

  11. I bet it tasted great but it looked awful... when they were making it ... it looked a little like pea soup ice cream.. yuck.... LOL...

  12. Didn't they use condensed milk as well?

    ReplyDelete
  13. They did mention the condensed milk in the episode from June 28th. It is not listed in the recipe though.

  14. There are many version of show ice cream. The recipe we posted is from their book and seems to be the only one the Duggars have shared with the public. The recipe they used in the June 28th episode was slightly different and did include condensed milk. However, they did not give the quantities of ingredients, so it would be very difficult to prepare.

    Blessings,

  16. Funny how I have lived in Minnesota my whole life and never heard of snow ice cream. I'm going to try this year. BTW to the ones who think eating snow off the ground is disgusting, when you get as much snow as we do, several inches at a time, it's actually not on the ground and we eat it while it is falling so it's fresh.

  17. It sounds good but maybe 20 yrs a go, I live in the city alot of pollution, it has a yukki taste u have to realize there are chemicals in the air do u eat that?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well, those chemicals are also in the air you breathe and in the water you drink. So nothing to worry about?

  19. yes, snow that fell from the sky. if you get it from on top and make sure it is clean snow it is fine,

    Hi Anonymous,

You can definitely use a snow cone machine. The final product might be slightly different, but it should work just fine.

    Hi Anonymous,

It depends on how much you like snow ice cream, but 6 quarts is equal to 24 cups. Feel free to cut the recipe in half.

    Enjoy!

  27. Real snow is very dirty! Don't eat it! Yuck!!

  28. We tried this and it was yummers! after a few bites of vanilla though we decided to turn it chocolate! To do this we just added nice quality cocoa powder (to taste) and it tasted kind of like a Wendy's frosty. We did not make Duggar size amount ;) we only used about 4-5 cups of fresh snow and this was enough for about 4-5 people maybe 6 but we like a nice serving! ;) Thanks Duggars! Love watching your show you are all very inspirational.
