They don't want to conceive ASAP. They leave family planning in the Lords hands. There is a difference. Jill and Derick want to take their professions (accountant & midwife) to the overseas mission field. Obviously Jill will complete her training and continue her work. Don't forget she has many many sibling to babysit her and Dericks child while she is working. Because that's where sick people go to get better, for one. Pregnant people are not sick people. Pregnant people and the baby's they give birth to however, can become quite susceptible to all sorts of diseases coughed out by all of those sick people. The amount of C sections or unnatural interventions is much higher in hospital births. Plenty of civilised countries have very high rates of home birth. Such as The Netherlands, where I'm originally from. I'd say about 50% of people have their babies at home. The ones that don't, have been medically determined. In NL, there isn't even a gyno present in most hospitals after normal work day hours, so you're not always 'closer to emergency staff'. Home birth is preferable on many, many levels. Google is your friend.

Your body is plenty capable of birthing a baby, as long as you trust in it. If you're scared at all, the fear induced hormones will stop your uterus from contracting, which will delay progress, reduce the release of pain killing hormones, make it enormously more painful (the contradiction there is ironic!), and raise the risks of unnatural intervention. And who these days, is not afraid of childbirth? After all, tellie only shows the women that are half hysterical. You know, the stuff that makes good tellie. Youtube has some lovely birthing video's of mothers who are not lead by fear.

Childbirth, can be virtually painfree, if you want it to be.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6925412444274057427.post-51347992714644931292014-06-03T16:47:58.358-05:002014-06-03T16:47:58.358-05:00@Anonymous

You can either be a nurse midwife or a certified midwife. A nurse midwife went to nursing school first. It's better to have a midwife if you are a low risk mom. If you are a low risk mom there is no need of medical interventions therefore you can birth in the comfort of your own home. Midwives do have emergency equipment if its needed and they are trained in CPR and are trained to see if things start going south. The only difference in medical knowledge between a midwife and OBGYN is that OBGYNs are trained in surgery. Derick probably wants her to do that too, he is a professional himself. Together they will make a good team, Jill can deliver the baby and Derick can send out the bill. Does any one know what their plans are regarding that? Yes, it would seem in direct conflict for her to continue her studies when Jill's belief system is to conceive asap. What are Derrick's beliefs regarding that? Have Derrick and Jill spoken about postponing babies for a while so Jill can continue HER work and become certified, etc and actually have some experience working for herself? I have had 2 home births and we are planning our 3rd right now (due in August!). I love birthing naturally (even though it's hard and painful! Lol). I think it's the best way (most of the time) for both mamas and their babies. Jill has such a great personality for being a good midwife-she is sweet, capable, intelligent and kind.
