  1. So Kendra is thrilled, excited, and thinks the baby is surreal. Yes, she's a Duggar now.

    1. 4:53 That's what I was thinking! Why can't they ever believe that they are...courting, engaged, married, expecting, parents???

Why make a video if that's all you can say?

    2. Ha! so sweet :)

    3. Yes, she is a Duggar. That's generally what happens when a girl gets married, she takes on whatever last name her husband has. And about her being thrilled, excited, and thinking the baby is surreal, I would be concerned if she wasn't. Give a new excited mom a break!

    4. Well, I was the same way when I had my first baby (she’s three months old now), and I think a lot of first-time mothers are. Yeah, babies are a lot of work, but they are sooo worth it all!

    5. Or she is like any new mom. The whole experience of having children is thrilling, exciting and surreal.

    6. Lol. I thought you would've added "super" in there!

      Delete
    7. You make it sound like that's a bad thing. Why?

    8. @10:23 Generally? Well, maybe in the US, a woman changes her last name when she marries but, in many parts of the world, she does not. I have been married for over 30 years and I did not change my last name. And I was far from unusual. A majority of women here do not.

If Kendra was old enough to get married, she is a woman not a girl.

    9. It's such a precious season of life! I can't wait to see what the lord does in the new baby's life.

    10. She (they) could have said that they welcomed the baby after X hours of labour, that the pregnancy and delivery had no complications, that they're exhausted and getting very little sleep but have lots of help from family, etc. In other words, be truthful and say something that actually means something or tells something, not just that it's "surreal." That's what teenagers say.

      Delete
    11. Were you expecting her to say “meh... it’s whatevs”

      Delete
    12. 2:38, first of all I’m a teenager and I don’t say “surreal”, nor have I ever heard any of my friends say it. Second of all I’m going to assume that they’re saving the details for the show, which would make sense especially since people always say that none of what we’re seeing on the show is new news.

      Delete
    13. @12:52, yes, generally. I know that's not what always happens and that's why I used generally instead of always.

    1. I thought the same thing. How sad he is already separating male/female activities.

    2. Exactly! I hope Joe will be happy with a daughter. Most people say it doesn't matter what the baby is, boy or girl, just blessed to be having a child.

      Delete
    3. My first thought lol, my husband loves taking his girls fishing

      Delete
    4. Haha yup, don’t know why the Duggars makes comments like that when the Duggar women participate in a lot of outdoor sports

      Delete
    5. That's what I was thinking too.

      Delete
    6. Maybe he'll grow up to like sewing or cooking or painting instead of fishing, you never know! Then Joe will have to work harder at connecting with his son's activities.

      Delete
    7. Oh the outrage for Joe to say he's excited to take his son fishing! Why didn't he say he's excited to take his son out for pedicures!?! That would have been so much more inclusive...face palm. Joe is excited to take his son fishing because it's something he has enjoyed doing with other men in his life and he wants to pass that on to his son. It's a beautiful thing.
I'm sure he knows it's okay to take a daughter fishing too. I honestly hope we can all calm down and let him be excited to teach his son to fish.

    8. It shows that the strict gender roles are alive and well in that family and are never going away. It really makes you wonder what Joe would have said if this baby had been a girl. What would he be "excited" to do with her? Exactly...because what have ever seen Jim Bob doing with his daughters except change the oil and change a tire once. Oh, and tearfully give them away on wedding day. Daddies of daughters should expect to put on a tiara and jewels and play princess tea party at some point. Harmless fun that kids love. But I can't see any of the Duggar men going along with that.

      Delete
    9. I find it so ironic that people are quick to slam Joe and use his comment about fishing to essentially accuse him from being a chauvinist who wouldn't be excited to spend any time with a daughter.

Yet I'm sure some of the same people are the one's critiquing the Duggars for saying the same things in every interview like they're reading a script.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the reason the Duggars do that, they know their critics are eager to jump all over them with uncharitable accusations, for anything they say that is not politically correct.

    2. Hi there,

Thanks for the heads-up, Anny. Unfortunately, most TLC videos are restricted to viewers in the U.S. and Canada. On the bright side, most are eventually uploaded to YouTube for all to view, and when that happens I post them here for my international readers. :)

To address the comment left at 5:04am on June 21st: Due to the difference in content on each of my 3 blogs, videos are uploaded in a different way. The video on this post (as well as the vast majority of clips on this blog) is directly from TLC, and I am unable to make any changes. If you cannot view it, it is either due to your location or an issue with your software. If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

  17. Where as for clips before I've usually had no problem viewing them in the UK this above clip I definitely can't as says the site isn't available in this region. I hope all clips in the future won't be like this 😟 Ellie I know you have no control over how the clips are presented.

    1. Leaving it up to God doesn’t mean she’ll get pregnant right away, OR that they’ll have a girl. Comments like yours are annoying.

      Delete
    2. That's exactly right. We leave our family size up to God, and we are expecting our 6th baby but they are all different ages apart from 2 years to 14 months. My point is, it is not God's will for everyone to have a big family. Just because we are letting God plan our family does not mean we will have 10 children.

    3. Thank you Anonymous @8:23! My husband and I did nothing to prevent children and had 4 spaced from 22 months to 3 years apart. It is annoying to hear those unnecessary comments.

    2. I went to school with a guy named Garrett....he's over 50 years old now. So, it's not a new name.

      Delete
    3. I’ve never heard of someone not hearing of the name Garrett lol. I went to school with one here in Maine. And Garrett is Joe and Mason’s middle names, so I’m surprised you haven’t heard of it until now. (Mason is Josh and Anna’s youngest son).

      Delete
    4. Garrett Ruark was Michelle’s father who died in 2010. Joseph is named for him. Joseph named his son after himself. Josh and Anna just happened to choose the name as their 3rd son’s middle name, No way it was planned. Mason was born just days after Joe’s wedding.

David probably stems from the Bible. It’s common in the family as a middle name. In addition to Garrett, Israel and John have it as their middle name. I honestly would be far from surprised if John names his first son David as the first name, I would bet money on it if I was allowed to bet

Renee is another repeater. Anna’s middle name is Renee. She named her eldest daughters middle name after hers. Kendra is another in-law who just happened to have that middle name.

Michael is another common Biblical name. It”s Jason’s middle name. Josh’s firstborn son’s first name and 2 in-laws (Ben and Derrick) have it as their middle name. In Ben’s case he was named after his father in that regard. Derrick I am not sure

Other names are just kids being named for their parents. The whole James thing (Josh for Jim Bob and Michael for Josh and son James after Jim Bob also), Nicole, Martyn, Michelle, etc.

    1. They're "so happy" to announce his birth.
Garrett is Joe's middle name and his grandfather's first name.
It's "super thrilling" and "surreal" to be parents and they're "super excited to get to do this journey together."
The "most exciting" thing for Joe is as the baby gets older, to "go fishin" with him. "Every thing that every dad thinks of I think."
When Kendra first saw him and held him, it was an emotional moment and she was crying.
They're "definitely super thrilled and excited."
The public gets thanked for their prayers and support and encouragement.
TLC reminds you to download their app so you can watch full episodes.

  30. My husband and I were “super excited” when our grandson was born on Easter Sunday.
Nothing wrong with being super excited! So sad for this family that people find anything to pick them apart,

    1. I agree! I am super excited about many things! What about the common "OMG!!!: repeatedly stated from other shows? The Duggars speak like all my Christian friends and family. I think in general, the masses have become so familiar with ungodly expressions that genuine, sincere and pure talk sounds foreign.

  32. I am so happy for you. He is adorable. I think all dads see their son as a fishing buddy. I bet when they have a girl he will be just a in love with her as he is with his son. Love you home God bless
