    1. just glad joy has choosed a safe route to have her baby within a hospital and not try a home birth w/ such an large child. way more safer for her and as well the baby. the main goal is healthly mom and healthly baby thats all that matters

      Delete
    2. She didn't try a homebirth, and it obviously didn't go as planned.

      Delete
    3. I meant DID not didn't!

      Delete
    4. I am confused did she try to have a homebirth or did they just do a hospital birth

      Delete
    5. She tried a homebirth and then for as of now unknown reasons had to go to the hospital.

  2. Sorry, I'm not buying that magazine just to read about how a baby was born. The news will come out elsewhere, eventually.

    1. Agreed since I am sure that the Duggars do not allow this magazine in their home. I love the Duggars but it bothers me that they sell their baby’s pictures to the likes of People magazine.

    2. You realize that the same corporation that owns TLC owns People, right?

      Delete
    3. People is better than other options that probably made offers. Funny how people want personal details of someone’s life that they are not obligated to share, but deny them the opportunity to make a few dollars in the process. I’ll buy the magazine.

      Delete
    4. I might buy it just to read it ~ I think the Duggars appreciate People mag since they seem to share the Duggar news truthfully and choosing to share exclusively probably reduces the hassle from all the other media outlets.

    5. Yes, it’s quite strange, isn’t it?

    6. Agree with you 100%.

    7. Theur's nothing wrong with People magazine. Get the magazine all the time. PEOPLE MAGAZINE IS FUN TO READ.

      Delete
    8. I will read it in the checkout line at the store.

      Delete
    9. So I take it you aren't watching the show either? As I can think of at least one TLC show I doubt the Duggars let the young kids watch...

No one is forcing you to buy the mag. But to critique them for selling a story to a mag, while not mentioning the whole "the Duggars get paid to share important events in their lives on a TV show" thing strikes me as a tad inconsistent.

    10. I am so surprised that people do not understand the implications of TLC and People Magazine being owned by the same corporation. It would be part of their contract with TLC for People to have exclusive rights to publish stories about them. And to market the Duggar brand and encourage viewership of the show,TLC would rush and publish a feel good article in People.

The magazine publish fluff positive articles about people. The Duggars for right in. I surprised that so many posters here trash the magazine. They are reading this blog. There is no difference.

      Delete
    11. Lucky for you guys that you can even buy it since it is not even available in Australia and the company who does it won't let us subscribe online either

      Delete
    12. Sorry, but it is not a Christian magazine! Why should fans read it.

      Delete
    13. It’s not intended to be a religious magazine. It is a magazine that tells us about people who make up the fabric of America, some good, some not so good. If the Duggars trust People Magazine to tell their story to us, and we want know that particular story, we have to uphold their decision and read the magazine.

      Delete
    14. Where are you getting your information about People and TLC being corporate brothers? People is published by the Meredith Corp. in Iowa. TLC is owned by Discovery Communications in Maryland.

      Delete
    15. 10:29 do you only read Christian books and magazines? People magazine isnt as horrible as some people are implying. Its not like its the National Enquired.

    1. Probably nothing .Newborns have strange eyes at first .They can't track and their head was just smoothed

      Delete
    2. Nothing, he's making a face. Newborn babies are squinty for awhile.

      Delete
    3. I think it's just the way he is screwing his face up, my son used to look like that & pull the exact same expression when he was having a bowel movement in his nappy. There isn't a problem with his eyes. Neither does it look like he was delivered with forceps as there isn't a mark on that beautiful child's face & most forceps deliveries (no matter how skilled) do leave a bit of a mark for a few days. He is a very lovely baby.

  16. Just a reminder: statisticlly most babys are said to have a strong resemblence to the father for some time after birth. It is just an evolutionary relict, so that the fathers accept the offspring as their own.
The babies look start changing after a while and real resemblences to parents or other relative start to develop later and can change over time.

    ReplyDelete

    1. There is no credible or consistent receent research to back up this folklore.

      Delete
    2. I don't agree with that at all, half of my siblings really resembled my dad at birth, and half resembled my mom soooooo nope

      Delete
    3. Who the baby has a resemblance to is normally a matter of opinion. Seems like I often hear both for all my kids. But evolution is not where it came from anyway because we didn't evolve. And there's plenty of science to back that up.

      Delete
    4. Wow, how easy some Christians are in claiming they are right and only their truth is the real truth. If you don’t believe in evolution that is your choice but there is no need in be patronising to people who believe otherwise. Or imply they are not educated. As far as I am
aware the freedom of religion and speech are still important values even in America.
But I sadly see many Christians acting more and more like this giving Jesus and his message a bad name. What happened to: if you don’t have anything nice to say, say nothing at all.
The poster said statistically. That doesn’t mean it is what happens every time!!!

      Delete
    5. 11:01, while I do agree that many Christians do NOT behave the way a Christian should and give all Christians a bad name in doing so, OP was saying that as though it were fact, and not an opinion, so there's no reason someone else can't voice their opinion.

    6. Not one of our 13 babies looked like my husband at birth!

  17. Hope we get to hear his birth story...still haven’t heard Samuel’s. Sure, we aren’t entitled to hear it, but seeing this family makes their livelihood by showing births in graphic detail (remember Anna?) it’s odd when they are so conspicuously silent.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. She ended up in the hospital so maybe not so eager to tell why.

      Delete
    2. It isn't odd in the least. It is not our business. The Duggars have personal choice. They can choose to share or not share as they see fit. Many of those clamouring for details are just hungry to tear down, destroy, ridicule, shame, mock, negate and abuse Duggar family members. Eileen

      Delete
    3. Eileen, I think the original poster said it is odd because he or she is going by what the Duggar family has always done thus far. They always give details on a new birth and Samuels birth was not talked about at all. The poster put it nicely that we aren't "entitled" to the information as to why the silence about his birth, but he or she said it's "odd" that this baby's birth was the first that was not at all discussed. And I agree, I see it was eerily silent too, not typical for this family. I wasn't offended in the least by the comment.

      Delete
    4. Anon @ 7:40 I agree with you. Joy was planning a home birth but ended up in hospital. If she was having good pre natal care no doctor or properly qualified midwife would allow their patient to have such a large baby at home, especially a first birth. Something obviously happened, it doesn't mean it was dramatic, maybe she was laboring too long, maybe she couldn't take the pain and she or Austin said hospital now. Whatever happened there is no shame in having to go to hospital, having pain relief or needing a c section, I would have more respect for them for saying 'this is what happened so we thought it best to go to the hospital'. For some reason the Duggar women all seem determined to home birth their babies, that is great but they really should have real midwives and a hospital back up in place because so far their track record isn't good.

      Delete
    5. Anon; 12:29. I am not offended in the least. I have my opinions as does every other commenter. And I stand firmly with my posted comments. I just laugh at the ridiculousness of some comments. I also see how abusive some others are. I also see the site where many of these comments originate. As I said, personal choice. And also every Duggar adult child can make the decisions they want for their lives. I would not post my birth story after the comments made about Samuel's birth. people were and continue to be abusive. I am appalled at many commenters. Eileen

      Delete
    6. 5:32 Anon, assumptions fill your post. Eileen

    7. Eileen- Joy stated they were preparing for a home birth, yet the evidence shows she and the baby were in a hospital. They have provided no explanations, as was the case with Samuel. Sure, they don't owe anyone a run-down on what happened and I don't feel it necessary to be provided with one. However, it should come as no surprise when "fans",or otherwise, jump to their own conclusions. Withholding information about significant life events, that ordinarily would be shared by the Duggars, raises questions and suspicion that things did not go according to plan.

      Delete
    8. Perhaps there is a plan to feature the birth in a future episode and they are contracturally limited on what they can share?

      Delete
    9. Eileen I am anon @ 5:32 If you actually read what I wrote I said Joy had planned a home birth but something had happened because she had ended up in hospital, that is a fact not an assumption. I said that her reasons may not be for dramatic reasons, and gave a few possible examples, I was in no way attacking Joy, and I am glad all turned out well and she and baby Gideon are well. I made the assumption of poor pre-natal care for these young women because as I said no ob/gyn or qualified midwife would allow a first time mom to deliver such a big baby at home because of the potential of serious complications. I am a registered nurse so I am not ignorant to the workings of pregnancy and birth or the complications that can occur, all of the sisters have ended up in hospital despite trying to birth at home, again a fact not an assumption.

  18. I have seen the other photos of him, and he is a real cutie! But this pic...in my opinion, I would not post an unflattering photo like this. now plastered all over the internet... it will haunt him for life and cruel to do. Again, this is just my opinion.

    1. I agree. Someone should have chose a more flattering picture.

    2. What?! This photo is so adorable. You don't see cute expressive babies like this. Why would you think it is unflattering? It totally is sweet. I ❤ it!!! It looks like he has a personality already.

    3. You seem incredibly wavering in expressing 'your opinion'. Perhaps say nothing at all, if you can't say anything nice. Might be a plan. I'm quite sure these people in the public eye, are well aware of what might happen to these photos. It's hardly 'unflattering'. He's a baby. One eye open. It's comical.

    4. I'm sure they think it's adorable. I do too!

    5. An adorable picture of him at 3 days old with a silly expression on his face will "haunt him" and is "cruel"? My goodness you have a delicate perspective. There is no such thing as an unflattering picture of a newborn and if someone is "haunted" by pictures of themselves at a few days old, they need tremendous introspection and reevaluation of their priorities.

      Delete
    6. He has a goofy baby face in this photo....all babies make expressions and faces as they begin to use their facial muscles. I would not call it unflattering....that’s sort of rude.

    1. Hi there,

I don't make any money from People Magazine. The purpose of my blog is to provide factual information about the Duggars, and the mention of the People Magazine article is doing just that, telling readers where they can find correct information.

      Have a wonderful day,
      Ellie

  22. While we are sharing opinions, I am of the opinion that it is cruel to anonymously and publicly judge a "silly face" snapshot of a newborn so "unflattering" that it "will haunt him for life". Maybe you aren't aware that newborns make funny faces all day long and it's ALWAYS CUTE. Seriously, who would make fun of an infant?!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I never made fun of the child.... I simply stated my opinion of that particular photo. Perhaps you shouldn't assume what other people are or are not aware of, as you are wrong in my case. Your opinion is that it's always cute, and I disagree, but I didn't berate you for having a differing opinion. Tolerance is something I think more people should practice.

    1. To be fair most of the time it's one or two posters who are ridiculously nitpicky, and then the majority of others pile on to disagree with the nitpicker.

Sadly some who follow the Duggars come with a mindset that "the Duggars are obviously hypocritical, prideful, intolerant, ignorant, and full of themselves" and see any misstep, even a minor one, as proof they deserve all the bashing.
