Jana and John on 2017 Plans

We have a TLC interview to share with you all. It's two months old (although the network just shared it), but it features Jana Duggar and John-David Duggar, and we know you enjoy hearing from them. The first part is quite comical, as they discuss their similarities and differences as twins.

  1. The TLC ad that preceded this clip was a comedian singing loudly about her female anatomy. Juxtaposition was quite dramatic!

  2. Lily and Ellie -
Do you happen to know if the video clip is older than two months? It seems that this series of interviews was recorded in maybe late November or early December?
    Thanks!

  3. Wow. No news. They don't know how they are different or similar to each other. Very little info and very awkward.

    1. I love these two because they seem so down to earth. I don't think they are naturally good in front of the camera and probably get nervous. That being said, since they are regular people, it is the interviewer's job to probe more. When they say "projects" then she needs to ask what kind. A basic follow up question could have made all the difference.

    2. Jody these two are not regular people, they have grown up infront of the camera which is not something most people do. These interviews are staged, the Duggars will know and have approved all the questions being asked, and will know what they are going to say. The interviewer will have no wiggle room to ask anything other than what is planned. I have said it before if these young people to not wish to be part of the show they should be allowed to step down and live their lives out of the spotlight because it is not fair if they are being made to feel they have to do it for the family.

  6. A suggestion: put videos behind a link. That way you wont offend sensitive folks with the interviewer's appearance. AND it will eliminate the auto-play problem. For example: While I am trying to read the above article and play the same video, another random video on your page starts playing. I now have to scroll through and find it to shut it off.

  7. ??? If they don't want to share anything, they shouldn't agree to these "interviews". Today we learned that the twins are the same because they are twins, they are different because they are male and female. We also learned that they like working on "various projects". JD is still a pilot. And the main/only thing Jana is looking forward to is JESSA's new little one? How hard does this family work at keeping every ounce of personality OFF camera?

    1. Your last sentence is a good point. I think it they loosened up a little bit and were more "real," they would be more interesting and even increase ratings.

    2. I thought the same exact thing as you did but ultimately realized that the way they express themselves is their genuine personalities. Not all people are very articulate. They're very simple and ordinary individuals, nothing really exiting about them, which some people might find boring (no offense to them, I'm the same exact way!)

    3. I think it's nice that Jana has a very simple, basic and plain sense of humor! Nothing new here but I do like these interviews with them.

    5. I was hoping to hear that Jana may have a love interest :). I'd like to know more details about the projects too.

  8. I've tried a couple times to get this interview, but comes up the video is currently unavailable. I would really like to see it.

  9. They seem to be the most private of all the family members. They didn't let any information out that wasn't all ready known. I would have loved to have heard more details on their projects. I thought Jana was getting ready to open a shop.

  10. I'm surprised that Jana didn't talk about the commercial property that she bought, and her plans for it.

  11. I keep hoping one of the TLCme interviews will be interesting but each one is so boring. And they're old at that.

  13. I think John and Jana have the exact type of personality, shy and reserved. Which is what I love about them. They aren't obnoxious and over the top. They are just true, sweet people. Refreshing to see in this day and age, especially being a celebrity figure. They are certainly my two favorites! Thank you for sharing that interview😊

  14. Dear TLC, when Jana and/or John David are entering a courtship with the loves of their lives or are engaged to be married then FILM them. Thank you!!

    1. Being very reserved and shy, if Jana (or John) doesn't want any of their future courtship/marriage/family filmed, I hope they don't receive ANY kind of pressure from ANYONE to do so. It's their lives, it's NOBODY'S business.

  15. These two are great! Love them both - they are genuine and do not make up news to sound more interesting. If the people who come on here and constantly whine about one Duggar thing or another want drama and spin they might want to check out the Kardasians and stop expecting it from this wonderful family.

    1. I don't think most people are expecting "drama and spin". However, if they are going to submit to interviews, there should be some substance. You, being their #fan and wanting them to stay on TV, should hope that they can keep viewers interested with something more than "looking forward to the next baby" or "we're fixing up cars to sell."

  16. That interview didn't do anything to swash the romours that Jana can't do anything outside her family.. Only thing she had to say about her future plans was her sisters birth.. Doesn't she have anything she wants to do, even play music or new hobby or something

  17. I always think Jana looks somewhat like Jennifer Lawrence. 😁

  18. most boring/uncomfortable interview ever. would not have posted this.

  19. way to say nothing. they are more well versed in communication then this. This is not a favorable reflection of them.

  20. I like and respect John David and Jana quite a bit- they seem to be the most mature of the children. Having said that, this interview is really more of a non-interview. If the format was intended to peak viewer interest with hints at "projects" and more family baby births, TLC's got nothing and neither does Counting On. The fact that all interview questions are vetted in advance and nothing on this show is actually unscripted reality, makes this "interview" even less stellar. Again, I like John David and Jana and think they're probably two of the most "solid" people in the Duggar family (level-headed, calm, unselfish, hardworking, genuinely humble, etc.). I get the impression this interview wasn't their idea, but they're cooperating to support the family venture. Neither repeatedly seeks out public attention and payment via People magazine/US Magazine spreads, unlike Jessa & Ben, Jill & Derick, or Jeremy & Jinger. Both John David and Jana are more private- it's called discretion- and wisely so. Had they wanted to do this interview, they would have been far more articulate (as they have been in other instances when the subject matter interested them) and willing to share. That the seasoned interviewer chose not to pursue obvious points ("What do you mean by projects?, "Tell us about one of your projects?", "Jana, you mentioned commercial projects, can you share a little bit about that?", etc.), tells me this interview was "by the book"...not designed for viewers to get to know John David or Jana, but perhaps more to alleviate talk that Jana might be unhappy in her situation or may be being used by the family as chief cook/bottle washer/babysitter/housekeeper (counter negative publicity). If TLC's got nothing better to ask of each Duggar offspring than "Any courtships or someone special?", they're going to continue fighting a losing ratings battle. The whole draw of 14-19 Kids and Counting was the excessive number of children and how Michelle and JimBob "managed". Counting On was a conciliatory spin-off following the cancellation- Lucrative contracts were involved and JimBob being a businessman pitched and leveraged Counting On as a continued revenue stream (in my opinion). None of the adult children have exceptional skills or experiences warranting a television show. Thousands of people all over the world are missionaries, in far more dangerous situations with far less support and such liberal leave policies as Jill & Derick. Millions of women worldwide give birth daily. Thousands are pilots, volunteer firefighters, citizen policemen, actual practicing midwives, contractors, mechanics, and so much more. The Duggars built a television empire on their faith, which is no longer the cornerstone of their shows. It's all about courtships and engagements, empty interviews, magazine spreads, lavish weddings, and endless trips and getaways...a far cry from where they began.
