Birthday Wishes for Jordyn

Jordyn-Grace Duggar, the 18th child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, celebrated her 8th birthday yesterday with a trip to Acambaro, her favorite Mexican restaurant. With the family gathered around, Michelle shared the attributes that she loves most about her daughter. Check out the video below.

If you've seen 19 Kids and Counting "Daddy Duggar's Birthday," you may recall the Duggars visiting Acambaro for Jim Bob Duggar's 46th birthday back in 2011. It is one of the family's favorite places to eat.

  1. My husband and I could never convince our girls that good Mexican food didn't have to come from Taco Bell. Jordyn is a sweet girl. I think in the video she probably was thinking "Forget the compliments Mom! Let's open presents!" My girls sure did.

  2. Jordan seems like such a sweet girl may she have a blessed birthday

  3. Honestly, Jordan looks completely disinterested in this video. What is the purpose of sharing it with the entire world? Do the little kids have any say about being in the public eye? I know I would have hated it if I were in her shoes...

    1. I notice that too, but maybe we are misunderstanding things. Michelle did do a fabulous job raising her children, maybe Jordan is standing there just being obedient to her mother. Once she would get off stage, she would be more relaxed and filled with excitement and joy. She does appear to be shy. I just wished Michelle spoke more personal about her daughter's special traits besides serving others. Is the little girl loving to her sisters? How does the mother feels about her? What are Mom's joys having Jordan as her daughter? What are precious memories ? What can she tell us about the little girl?

    2. I am entirely offended by the Duggars. They became famous because they were dearly loved. They gained wealth off of viewers. But they are so private. Michelle couldn't have revealed more about Jordan than having a servant heart? This troubles me and bothers me. When Jinger got married, the Only thing Jana said about her was she was the only one in the family being left handed!?! Are you kidding ? Why can't they be genuine and reveal what they are really like ? And they wonder why people grew tired. Just be genuine . I can tell you about why I love my daughter, my siblings and my parents. Why are they secretive?? Want more viewers? Why didn't they show Jinger s courting? Show Jill's struggles in the missionary field. Show Jessa struggling with two kids. Show Jinger being a newlywed and the ups and downs. Why show the young son in laws being silly...like At baby showers ? Be real. Stay acting like celebs who must show a perfect self. A perfect side. Want more viewers? Take my advise.

    1. She sure doesn't look very happy. Most kids smile or jump around when its their Birthday!

    2. I thought the same thing. It seemed like a really sad video.

    3. It has been mentioned before she is more of a serious personality. She is responding exactly how a child with a serious personality would respond. Every serious child I have encountered responds the same way she is responding. Being around kids like this is so refreshing from the loudmouth, uncontrolled children. If anything, she is probably annoyed at those not being serious while her mom is talking. Serious does not equal sad.

    4. "Serious" not acknowledged or handled properly in a child can quickly turn to "mad" and/or "sad." I don't see anyone in that video being sensitive to her seriousness.

    5. Actually, what I heard before was that Jennifer was the serious one, not Jordyn. Michelle talked about it on the episode when Jennifer went to be fitted for her new glasses.

  5. It does not look this little girl know how to receive kiss... Big public appraisal is good; really. but human being need more than that on daily basis.... Like a smile, a warm real hug ....

  6. Jordyn is awfully young for "helping with babies" to be the main attribute about her. What does she like to do in school? What are her favorite games? Her favorite toys? Her favorite books? Is she artistic? Sporty? Musical? There must be more about her than she helps with babies.

Most kids really blossom when you are praising them, but Jordyn just looks so disconnected from Michelle.

  7. This is so sweet! I love how intentional they are about building each other up in their family. I'm a mom of an 8 year old girl and I'm sure Jordyn feels so loved and such a sense of belonging in that family. Facial expressions are not always an accurate representation of what she's thinking or feeling. Kids this age, especially if they're not naturally expressive, look bored a lot! It doesn't mean they are! What a blessing that being praised and recognized is so normal to Jordyn that she doesn't think to respond in a unique way! She's just a normal and well loved little girl!

  8. My son would have reacted in a similar way. It's not that he's not used to being loved on. You just can't expect kids to react the same way as an adult would. Every kid is different. That's the beauty of it. Some kids would be jumping up and down and others like my son or Jordyn are more quiet.

  9. She's cute but Momma Duggar? She's not even a little bit interested in your praise. Maybe a little child-specific sensitivity is in order!

  10. Maybe she wanted a small celebration with mom and dad...how can they truly know their kids individually?!?!

  11. Loves to serve and wear a baby on her hip? What about her favorite school subject or favorite game? That was just sad to say about an 8 year old child!

    1. The other birthday videos they post are just as generic.

  12. Jordyn looks sad in this video. Perhaps she misses her older sisters. Jordyn is one of my favorite Duggars.

  13. Do these kids get any gifts? Or does all Jim Bob and Michelle just take them out to eat?

  14. Michelle is getting far more joy from that speech than Jordyn is.

    1. And what's sadder still is that Michelle is oblivious to the fact that nothing she is saying is registering with her daughter. No smile, and Jordyn only looks up twice.

  15. Michelle needs to lose the festive necklace, or else get a smaller one.

    1. I thought that was a rather secular holiday display around her neck.

    2. Really?? I thought she should add her Mother's Ring...that would totally complete the look:)

    4. It's a fun necklace for Christmas. People wear that kind of stuff, like ugly Christmas sweaters.

  16. Jordyn does not look happy. I do not like how her mum tells how she is, i think only Jordyn knows how she really is.

  17. So sad. Once again all this video exposes is how Jordyn can help "Mama", Jana, Joy" etc.Oh...and to carry babies on her hip. Really? It breaks my heart. She's not allowed to be a little girl, but just another "helper" for Mama.

  18. I hope everything is OK with Jordyn, she looks so sad :( poor girl!

  19. She looks like she doesn't want to be there, with that woman she appears to hardly know clutching her. I've seen kids happier to see Santa.

  21. I am blown away by all the negative comments about this video. If you believe that every child responds the same way to a situation, you obviously do not have more than one or two children. I have raised five children who would have been smiling and giggling during the video, loving the praise and attention. My other child would have been tolerating but not enjoying being the center of attention. That child is a happy child and very active and social, just not when everyone is staring at him.
Please be careful when judging others. Most of the time you only have about 1% of the beautiful picture.

  22. Happy Birthday, Jordyn! You are a beautiful girl, and you've always had a special place in my heart. Hope your birthday was lots of fun and you got some cool presents.

  23. Jim Bob once said something like "be careful what you praise your children for, because they will do a lot of that", so they will only praise their children for generic qualities they want to encourage, such as serving and being motherly for girls. It's very sad to watch because they're not actually pointing out Jordyn's real qualities or traits, what makes her unique and special. Kids can feel that and not feel genuinely loved. I know from personal experience growing up in a large family, with parents who believed in training us to be what they wanted rather than encouraging our unique gifts.

  25. Servant heart ,Seasons of life,Fellowshiping, Countenance.I wonder if instead they ever just say, Kindess for others, New stage in life, Visiting with others, and Face. I'm not bashing, just wondering why that is? I'm a fan who is just wondering if these are all fundie terms or just Duggar terms.I hope it didn't come off as rude, I just have always wondered, can someone clarify for me, thanks✌😊

  26. Maybe the Duggars are vague because they get criticized when they're specific. Oh, wait, they get criticized when they're vague too.
