Jinger's Beautiful Wedding

Four down, 15 to go! Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar watched their sixth oldest child, Jinger Duggar, marry her sweetheart, Jeremy Vuolo, on Saturday at a beautiful chapel in Northwest Arkansas.

Follow the wedding, People Magazine released details of the ceremony, as well as an exclusive photo of the newlyweds. Us Magazine followed with additional information.

The wedding venue was decorated with approximately 2,000 handpicked flowers, reports Us. Guests were served meatballs, cheese, crackers, veggies, and cupcakes (chocolate, cranberry, and pumpkin).

Several family members created videos to congratulate the new Mr. and Mrs. Vuolo (click here to watch). Both the father of the bride (Jim Bob Duggar) and the father of the groom (Pastor Chuck Vuolo) gave speeches at the event.

  1. Maybe it's not 15 to go. Maybe some of the guys or even Jana will embrace being single forever. Would that make them a failure in the eyes of their religious system?

  2. A lot of flowers gave their life for this event. Where do you "handpick" 2000 flowers in November?? Or are they saying that the flowers were so exclusive because someone took time to pick each one out? I used to work in a flower shop, and I'll tell you a wedding floral designer's secret: We used the oldest flowers in the store that would still be capable of holding up for 24 hours. Beyond that, nobody would see them, so they could turn brown or fall apart after the ceremony. We'd use the oldest buckets of flowers in the cooler and make way for fresher shipments to come in. Every store did this. The fresher stuff was used for table arrangements and the older stuff went to weddings and funerals, the once-and-done events. So maybe we "handpicked" the wedding flowers in that sense, to make sure they were the ones with some age on them?

    1. My daughter is planning her wedding and flowers are expensive! And she is not going to have 2000 handpicked flowers. Talk about a waste of money!

At weddings, gifts should cost at least the cost of dinner at the reception. So, a meat ball, a cupcake and a carrot stick would be about $5 at the most.

1000 guests is a circus; a grab for gifts especially if you do not have a reception.

    2. I think "handpicked" is just a goofy way to try to describe something more elaborately, like when we hear about "hand-tossed pizza crust" in a Dominoes commercial or "artisan bread" for a sandwich chain. Like, it's just pizza crust, just bread, just flowers.

    3. Flowers can be a huge waste of money at any event. At my church, if there's a wedding on Saturday, the flowers stay on the altar and are used for the services on Sunday. The bride's family is thanked in the bulletin for their contribution, and the church saves money by not having to order flowers for that weekend. After Sunday, there's a committee that takes the flower arrangements apart, puts the flowers that haven't wilted into smaller vases, and delivers them to nursing homes. I wonder what happened to the 2000 flowers after they were on display for that short time during Jinger's wedding? Trashed, or recycled?

    4. It sounds as if some writer got the word "pick," as in "to pluck from a stem," confused with how a florist uses the word "pick" to describe either a pointed stick with a wire, or the plastic water vial with the pointed end. Both of those items are used to attach flowers in an arrangement. They're called "picks" but they mean something different than to "pick a flower."

So "handpicked" probably means some florist had to individually handle each flower and get it ready for an arrangement, in a water vial or on a wired stick. I'm sure people weren't out in a field the day before the wedding, picking flowers by hand.

  3. I love this blg. But for you to say,"Four down and fifteen to go," sounds so wrong. It makes it sound like all Jim Bob and Michele want for their childen is marriage, like they can check them off once nuptials take place. I would like to think that Mr and Mrs Duggar have other hopes and dreams for their children, that they will just as enthusiastically celebrate and embrace other achievements by their children, other than each finding a spouse. Certainly marriage is wonderful and to be rejoiced over, but it's not the end-all, be-all is it?

    3. Actually I confess that I used those words as a jumping off point to say that the Duggar siblings are so gifted and talented and could all achieve interesting and important goals if they so chose. Jill, for example, is making a difference in the world.

  4. What are Jeremy's parents and grandparents' views on dancing? I feel badly that Jer's mother lost out on the "mother of the groom" dance. Do his grandparents believe that dancing is wrong, even at weddings? We'd like to know a bit more about them.

    1. I have been to a lot of weddings with no dancing...and beliefs about dancing had nothing to do with it. I think it depends on what part of the country / world you are from, what is customary for weddings there.

    2. I can't speak for Arkansas, but I am from PA, and dancing is customary at weddings there. So is a full meal.

    4. Gosh, I always think those "father of the bride" and "mother of the groom" dances are so silly and awkward.

    5. I'd bet my bloomers that Grandma Vuolo has done some really fun dancing at weddings in her time!
