Jessa: 'I love nighttime feedings'

Did you catch the Seewald's big announcement? They're expecting their second child in February 2017! (See Tuesday's post for more details.)

Jessa and Ben released the following statement via People and Us Weekly:

We are so thankful that God is adding to our family. 2017 is shaping up to be a wonderful year already, and we know Spurgeon will do a great job in his new role. Having Spurgeon has been such a wonderful blessing, and we cannot wait to see the face of this sweet new baby (or babies!).

In a recent interview, Jessa also told Us Weekly that she "loves nighttime feedings, even if it means getting less sleep." The Counting On star says she knows Spurgeon is growing up quickly and that she will "look back and miss these days."

Meanwhile, Jill Dillard shared with Us Weekly that she and Derick "are excitedly waiting to see when God might bless us with another [baby]!"

Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo took the cover story in last week's issue of Us Weekly, and Jessa and Ben Seewald will appear in this week's edition of People, on newsstands Friday.

  1. So are adoption agencies going to let them consider adoption when Spurgeon is 9 months since they are pregnant with a second child?

    1. I believe they said if you have an infant or will have one, you cannot adopt at that time....

  2. It's uncomfortable and unfair to always be compared to one's siblings. Jill is quoted as saying: "We'd love to have another baby, and are excitedly waiting to see when God might bless us with another one!" Life shouldn't be a competition and turning it into one is exhausting. Words from Jill are entirely unnecessary, other than "Congratulations"

    1. She was probably asked directly by the interviewer if they were planning on having more children or if she is currently pregnant. Interviewers ask these leading questions and then only publish the answers, so it does seem like she is only commenting on herself. I'm sure she is thrilled for her sister and to have a new niece or nephew.

    2. When the interviewer leads the questioning (in the background of course) they answer the question and it automatically means they're competing............they're not, it just seems that way because of how the blind interview plays out.

    3. who know when she said that could have been months ago, but let go with the negative. SMH You can not be living under a rock and not know how these tabloids work.. Let your light shine

    4. It's not a competition... Children are a gift from the Lord. She loves children and can have as many as she wants... She's just telling us what's on her heart, that's it..can't u maybe say something nice instead?:)

    5. She was always so excited whenever she was talking to Jessa over Skype about Spurgeon (sorry if I spelled wrong) and she wanted to watch and be there for the birth! Obviously she loves her sister.

  3. At my Library last night, I was perusing Southern Living in the magazine section when I saw the contested US Weekly featuring Jinger and Jeremy. Being unfamiliar with USWeekly and wanting to be fair to Jinger and Jeremy, I went through the magazine over to cover. On the way to the Courtship spread Pgs. 34-39, I passed 11 pics of women significantly exposing their breasts and 3 of women exposing their derrieres. This edition also promoted Real Housewives of New Jersey, Toddlers & Tiaras, Justin Beiber, Selina Gomez, an assortment of scantily clad women and suggestively posed "hot" men, and a parade of celebrity gossip tittle tattle. Godly? Hardly. Family Friendly? Hardly. Spiritually/morally edifying? Hardly. Redemptive? Hardly. An magazine with some degree of integrity and solid reporting? Bankrupt. The pictures accompanying the Courtship spread are almost all repeats from the Duggar's website, blog, or this site...not exactly new or exclusive. Surely, Jinger & Jeremy could have exercised better judgement and chosen a magazine in keeping with the values they both personally espouse.

    1. I wonder if Discovery Communications (who owns TLC) and Wenner (who publishes US) have some sort of connection, and if you sign on with one, you've signed with them all? And then they have full say in where your pictures appear, without your consent? In any case, that is not a magazine in line with Duggar family values at all, so I'm surprised Jim Bob would allow his child in there. Thanks for researching that and reporting it, and thanks to Ellie for allowing that very truthful report to post.

    2. Really disappointed in this whole family, including Jinger and Jeremy, that they would agree to such a thing. Do they realize what that makes them look like?

    3. Isn't it wonderful that someone, who doesn't go to church, is going to pick up that magazine and run into Jesus. They are either planting a seed or watering a seed. Oh by the way, to the writer who criticized them, you sure spent an extensive amount of time looking through the magazine to write about the people and articles it contains.

      Delete
    4. I understand what you're saying but have you thought about the idea that their stories could be a light for people who look at those magazines. It's really not that different from being on tlc, a network that shows alot of what you're saying. I'm glad they are doing the show. They are an inspiration to many families. People judge them as if they are perfect. They have made mistakes. They have made bad decisions. But haven't we all? I would hate to compare mine to theirs cause they'd probably make me look real bad. I hope people don't discourage them so much that they cancel their show, because I feel blessed to watch it.

    5. Why not look at it differently? They are being a light in a dark place. Some one who is used to reading that magazine and who doesn't know the Lord will suddenly have an article to read about a Godly couple who are living life according to Christian beliefs? They aren't in those magazines so that Christians will start reading smut they are in them so that people who already read smut can have a different example to learn about right there in the middle of the magazine they already read. Oh and Jim Bob has nothing to do with it. Jessa is a grown woman. She and her husband can decide to do whatever they want.

    6. We are called to be light in the darkness as we live like sheep among wolves. Jesus went where the sinners are, not to sin with them, but to be a light in the darkness. We must '... go into ALL the world and preach the gospel..." just as Jesus commanded. He also said that doctors aren't for the healthy but for the sick. US Weekly will reach more unsaved people than a Christian magazine - I believe that is the point. Stick with watching TLC or reading the Duggar's books and let the US Weekly for those in the world still searching for light. The contrast in the magazine must be amazing. I trust they stand out as light in the dark world we are in. As believers, we must stop pointing our fingers at other believers and judging and get busy showing Christ to the lost, as the Duggars are doing. Anyone (born again or a sinner) can point out someone's sin, but only Christ was willing to die for that sin and love them anyway. He is our example to follow.

    7. They are 'in' it, but not 'of' it. Shining the light in a very dark place, not supporting the darkness. They have made it known what they believe towards modesty etc.

      Delete
    8. Thank you. I couldn't agree more. Something is wrong with the way the Duggars allow themselves to be represented by these filthy magazines.

      Delete
    9. It could be that they are trying to make a magazine less scandalous by being in it. Wouldn't it be great if so many people bought that particular magazine with them in it, and the magazine producers thought, "Sales went sky high. People want to see good moral stuff on magazines. Let's change to that."

      Delete
    10. So only people who read godly, moral magazines should hear about the beauty of faithful courtships and marriages? Hmmmm ... I'm not sure that's the way to reach the lost. Be careful judging someone else's heart; they may have a higher calling that being overly concerned with what people may think about them. I pray that the faithfulness of the Duggars' lives will draw people to the Lord, no matter what their walk of life or what kind of magazine they choose to read.

    11. @Annonymous Aug 26 4:14. I think you have poignantly revealed what so many of us long time fans have been grieved about as time goes by. I don't want those magazines and their immorality on my coffee tables in my home. I don't want my children viewing all the inappropriate images. I don't want to tempt my husband with pictures of "scantily clad women". JimBob came out with a statement after Josh's "mistakes" urging families to remove all sensual material. Why then does this family continue to make their living participating in media outlets they have publicly condemned? I will admit it is becoming increasingly difficult to continue to give them the benefit of the doubt so to speak. These social media outlets are not ministry tools. I'm beginning to think the Duggars have become a "do as I say not as I do" family. It's difficult and sad to watch.

    12. It seems like there is confusion about a persons picture and them actually being physically present. These are just magazine articles writing about the Duggars, not the family really living in that magazine environment. With freedom of the press it should be OK for a magazine to write this article and publish it, why wouldn't the Duggars consent to it too? It doesn't change who their family is and what they do with their lives, it is just an article about them. Evidently from your own witness their story is really reaching into the world this way. I think it is a good thing.

      Delete
    13. 9:01, you're saying it's OK to put your pictures somewhere controversial, as long as you're not physically present? Like putting your pictures on a dating site? An OK way to reach into the world, as long as your profile says how conservative you are? That doesn't make sense to me.

    2. I hope Jill is not pregnant again. It is not safe for her to be pregnant, because she was living in a Zika-infested area until very recently.

    3. Never mind. It must have a different Dugger kids picture that I was looking at.

    4. According to the regulations that the World Health Organization gave for Zyka virus, Jill shouldn't get pregnant before February next year, if she stays in the States. If she goes back to Central America that will need to be postponed even further.

  5. I agree with the above poster regarding the magazine. People magazine maybe, but not US! That is the worst magazine for publishing filth. How can a Duggar even look at such a magazine much less I bet they get free copies. Is this a magazine they want their kids/grandkids to look at? It is mind boggling.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm convinced these kids will say anything to a magazine or to keep up their happy peppy appearances. I have never heard anyone else say they love getting less sleep when they have a baby. It goes against all human physiology!

    1. I agree somewhat. I can't understand liking and wanting to get up in the middle of the night!

    2. I am a mom and I've heard many moms say they like getting up in the night with their baby. My perspective is that my baby will only be little for a very short time and I'm happy to soak up all their sweetness. It helps to make those little difficulties of parenting positive...I don't want to waste all my time being angry because the little human in my care needs something that is not 100% easy for me to give.

Positivity is good for everyone, Christian or not. I'm particularly coming from a non-Religious perspective.

    3. What I remember most about nighttime feelings is the peacefulness and quietness in the house, when it is just you and your child sharing a loving moment. Looking into the eyes of your child in those quiet hours of the night is a gift. Sometimes it is only in the wee dark hours of the night do you have the wonderous opportunity to truly appreciate the beauty of the gift you hold within your arms. I understand exactly where she is coming from.

  8. Children are a blessing, but that seems all they want or talk about. There is more to life than how many babies you can have. It seems like a competition. They seem not satisfied until they have more. They talk about adoption also. I still wish them well, but you do not have to follow in your mothers footsteps. I kind of doubt Jinger will.

    1. I agree! I've always loved children and I will be overjoyed to have some in the future, but there's more to life than that. I'm not saying that a lot of things are more important than children, just that even if your children are the most important thing to you (which is natural), they aren't the only thing.

Or am I reading gossip? The episode led us to believe they had no clue what they were having. I realize it was filmed in the past.

  11. Congratulations!
For all those posting about adoption it doesn't seem to me that adoption truly is within the duggar value system or they would have adopted already. Michelle mentioned it years ago many times for herself and now Jessa and Jill. Nothing will come of it but who are we to judge? I don't want to adopt either.

  13. I watched their show a lot I wish I could be more like Michelle. I have four kids and the patience she has and the all around love it amazing. No person or family is perfect but one thing I took from this family is forgiveness and unconditional love. I try hard to be just as patient with my children.
