Dillards' Big Announcement

Now that Ellie is married to her Mr. Handsome, we are taking a break from wedding cleanup/recovery to bring you a Duggar update.

Jill and Derick Dillard are headed overseas. The Dillards have had a mission-focused marriage since they tied the knot in June 2014, and they have a strong desire to serve the Lord in a foreign country. Earlier this year, the opportunity arose from them to begin making plans to pursue that dream. Derick recently left his job as a tax accountant at Walmart, and he and Jill are headed overseas with three-month-old Israel Dillard in July. At this time, the Dillards have chosen not to reveal where they will be serving.

Jill and Derick begin their courtship in Nepal, November 2013

  2. This is awesome! Anyone who can devote their entire life to serving our Lord is just amazing. Good luck Dillards!

  3. May God protect your family as you serve! 💕 I pray one day my family can serve in this compacity also!

  4. I think that it is great if it was just the 2 of them. If this was their plan from the start they should of held off having baby Isreal. He deserves a safe and stable environment.

    1. I know plenty of people who were born/grew up in the mission field. As long as their family is stable that's all they need. It's probably good for them to get away from all the media hoopla anyway. They don't need to deal with that with a new baby.

    2. I agree. Taking such a young infent to a third world country, is questionable at the least for health care. They can serve in remote areas here in this country.

    3. Safety is number 1, of course. And I'm sure it is with them too. I know several missionary families who have grown their families overseas (Vietnam, Korea...). If anyone is capable of this, it's the Dillards!

    4. Many kids have grown up in the mission field and done just fine! I'm sure Israel and any future children they have will do the same!

    5. I can't believe you really just said that. Don't you know the story of Moses? Safe? We are never more safe than when we are in God's plan. The baby Jesus had a "stable" environment. Remember? That was TOTALLY God's plan!

      Delete
    6. That baby will be fine!! The choice for any of them to serve the Lord requires faith. Anything could happen to anyone of them anywhere. God is in control and always will be! As the daughter of missionaries, I know this to be true! I wish you safe travels and the Lord's hand of protection and an abundance of souls in your work!!

  5. You will do a great job at serving God!!! I pray only for your safety and that of your child. It will also be an adventure for Israel. May it go well and Peace be with you all.

  37. Bless you for answering Gods call and Prayers that all will be good. Miss your family and feel troubled that our society seeks to make misery for one another. I pray often that change will come and that every one will come to realize that we all benefit from supporting one another in good and bad times.

  41. There is no safer place than in God's will. God's will is for us to share Christ. They will be just fine. And you don't even know where they are going. Judge not. Good grief. I can't stand reading posts like this.

  43. I always knew they would be doing this, but I didn't expect it so soon. Baby Israel David is so young, and Jill is still recovering from a caesarian delivery of a very big baby! They will be away from the support/ assistance of family. That said, they DO have a very strong marriage and, individually, strong relationships to the Lord. Where God guides, He also provides. Jill and Derick are so well-loved by many, that I have no doubt they will receive plenty of support! I just wonder how Mrs. Cathy will do, being so far from her only grandchild.

  45. What about young James, whose favorite pastime is visiting with Jill & Derick? And what about Derick's Mom Cathy, whose recovery from cancer was surely escalated by having contact with her only grandchild, and her wonderful daughter-in-law Jill?

  47. I know when God calls some one to do His work He takes care of them but I guess the human part of my thinking worries about Jill since she had a C-Section with Israel. If she gets pregnant again I pray everything goes normal with the birth. They haven't told where they are going and I pray God will provide good medical care.

  48. may god watch over the 3 of you and each step you take along the pathway of the lord and life may any troubles you come across be very little ones and your achievements be massive and productive and whatever you do in life trust in the lord and you will always have a friend love, light, happiness ,and blessings come your way from England

  49. So happy that you are answering Gods call. Many years ago (1975) my husband and I went off to Africa with 3 small children and God took care of us. A child opens doors in many cultures...so don't listen to naysayers just trust and obey. May He go before you. Many blessings.

  50. God bless Jill and Derek and baby Israel as they start this new chapter in their lives. They'll be in my prayers daily. What a blessing they're going to be to whomever they come in contact with over seas. Such a sweet couple. Can't imagine how much they're families are going to miss them here in the states. But I'm sure they have everyone's support as they start this adventure. Much love to all the Duggars.

  55. May Our Heavenly Father watch over your family always. I hope your family will have regular updates of your efforts to spread your unique Christian Love Lessons to the needy around the world. You and your Mothers have the natural gifts from the Lord and you don't mind sharing! In fact, that is what is so hard... sharing you with others that need uplifting even more than we have in the U.S. Thank you so much for helping so many for so long. God Bless

  59. Your family has served the Lord well for many, many years and what a praise it is for this branch of the family to continue in a different place. I miss your TV shows. I ache for Josh and Anna & pray from them daily - as well as for the rest of the family. The Lord can take what others mean for evil and use it for good. Thank you for sharing your lives. Shirley
