47,045,881 Duggars and Counting

According to Michelle Duggar, "The multiplication process has begun" for the Duggar family. Let's do some basic math to see how many Duggars there could be in just a few generations.

If each family has 10 kids...
190 grandchildren
1,900 great grandchildren
19,000 great-great grandchildren
190,000 great-great-great grandchildren
1,900,000 great-great-great-great grandchildren
*That is more than the current population of Nevada.

Now let's see what will happen if each family has 19 kids...
361 grandchildren
6,859 great grandchildren
130,321 great-great grandchildren
2,476,099 great-great-great grandchildren
47,045,881 great-great-great-great grandchildren
*That is almost 10,000,000 more than the current population of California.

What do you think of these numbers?

  1. I think there will be some rebels! However, counting 5 kids for each family might be pretty close. That would give them 60,000 great great great great grandchildren. That would be the 2000 population of Terre Haute, Indiana. That's not too shabby.

  2. This could also apply to the Bates family!

  3. This is contrary to the prophecy of the Bible that Jesus is coming back when the signs of the end ot the age begin, the restitution of Israel, the increased frequency of earthquakes which are the birth pangs of the second coming, nations rising against nation, and so on, don't think there is as much time as it would take to produce those numbers.

  4. If everyone of those will posses the Christian beliefs, morals, and faith that the Duggars do then what a wonderful thing! Imagine if each of those in generations to come could lead just one more person to salvation! Oh My!!!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ha ha, love this. There may be some hope for this country after all if we can fill it with good Christian folks like these.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Haha. That won't happen.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Conservative voters, living by Godly principles, kind, self-supporting, etc. etc. etc. I say BRING IT ON!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Wow! That would be something. Family reunions would be gigantic!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I wonder if all the kids will want big families. Still that's a lot of grandkids!

    ReplyDelete
  10. awesome! i've been doing my family genealogy and i got to say, those are staggering numbers. i couldn't imagine being the great-great-great-great grandchild doing the research! although i noticed, that in my family at least, most of the kids in 'larger' families (12 or more kids) had smaller families themselves (5 or 6).
if people like the duggars and bates keep multiplying by even a quarter of those numbers, the world would be a much nicer place!

    ReplyDelete
  11. i think that is rally shocking to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Gosh - that is a lot! I very much doubt whether, on average, each Duggar child will have as many as ten children each though. More than average - definitely!
Jim Bob is one of two and Michelle one of Seven (?) ...so they didn't follow in their parents' footsteps with regard to family size and I don't think all of their descendants will follow in theirs or have carbon copy beliefs. God doesn't have the same plan for everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The more Duggars the better! Hope they make it to 47 million one day!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wow!!! Those are HUGE numbers!! I can't believe that it could possibly happen!!! Maybe it will happen only God knows. May God bless your family!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Very unlikely! My son is the ONLY great-great-great-great grandchild (and that isn't going to change) of my great-great-great grandparents who has six children, if they all had six children then there would be 7776 not one! Ok, that was pretty unlikely too but I don't think any of the Duggar children will have as many as 19 children - and most won't have ten. I do think the average will be higher than 3 though - for a generation or two at least!

  16. Because jana and john david aren't even courting yet and are 25... they have a very slim chance of having 19 kids each... lots of multiples would be their only chance. Annah is proving a pattern of 1 every 2 years... likely only 10 her way. Im guessing 10 average per family is a safe bet. Of the 19 kids I'm guessing there will be 1 or 2 in the bunch that never get married

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Remember, they can always adopt! Jana and John-David could get to 19 through adoption as well as multiples. If they choose, that is. :)

  17. Whoa! This is actually great! The world needs more good people like the Duggars :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I dont` get it! I have NO kids and that`s fine with that.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think WOW! I am exited for more duggars😀

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wow that's some big numbers, although unlikely that the original Duggars will still be around or even the grandkids by the time you get to the great great great greats, but its very interesting all the same

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think they're 100% not realistic. The more interesting number is the odds of that actually happening which is pretty close to zero.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think whatever number it comes to, it is comforting to know that the Duggars are a loving family who love God and want to help others. Hopefully the good of them will out weigh the bad that is going on in the world today. As long as the ones that are loving and caring are multiplying then that is great. Keep them coming!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Those numbers are not realistic as some of the Duggar children may not get married for different reasons and not have any children at all, again for different reasons but they will have many more grandchildren and great grandchildren than most people.

  24. It's very unlikely:) Perhaps some of the kids may have, say, 8-12 babies, but I don't really think all of them (perhaps some will not even wed). It's not like all the women are destined to go through so many childbirths and pregnancies. Still, I'd say Mchelle and Jim Bob might have many grandchildren - perrhaps not 190 :) but still a lot:)

    ReplyDelete
  25. That would be great, especially if the offspring lives as the current generation does. They work hard, are industrious, pay their own way, and live moral lives. That's a lot of tax payers.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Forget Duggarville, they will need a whole nation just for their family..lol. I think it would be so cool to have such loving, faith driven people back in our country. We could ship some of those other celebrities to another country, so there will be plenty of room for the Duggar brood. Love this concept. It is what our country needs!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Concerning but thankfully unrealistic!
For zero population growth every couple would have two children - in five generations that would be 64 descendants. If each family did have 10 children each then that would be an increase of 29687.5% over five generations...what if every one in the whole world did that...a population of 2078 billion in five generations (assuming 7 billion now). I'm sure I have over- simplified the Math but, even so, I can't see how there would be enough land to feed everyone. Would that be God's plan?

    1. God is in control if everything. If He gives them children - He has a plan.

    2. There is plenty of 'land' if people used it more wisely & it was distributed wisely not in the greed fashion we see now where the rich get richer & the poor get poorer.

  28. I think that probably only about one third of Jim Bob and Michele's children will have super large families. The rest will probably have more like 4 to 8 children. Of course it all depends on the age when the start having their family. I think it is more likely to assume Jim Bob and Michele will have about 120 grandchildren. I love this family and what it stands for and prayer for God to continue to guide them and bless them!

  29. These numbers are pretty high and God did tell Adam and Eve to multiply and fill the Earth........

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wow, thats a lot of blessings!!!!!

  31. I know this is kind of off subject, but I was just wondering to myself, "who do all the buddy groups consist of?"
Could you do me a favor and let me know of the buddy group members. Just curious.

    1. Jana has Jason and Jackson Joy-Anna has James, and Jennifer
      Jeremiah has Justin, and Jordyn
      Jinger has Jedidiah and Johannah!

I think that is how it goes!

      Delete
  32. Well,l I wouldn't say that is alot of tax payers. If all the kids had that many kids, they would have to make ALOT of money to have to pay any taxes. Kids=Lots of write-offs=nill for taxes if any.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I expect that Jim Bob and Michelle will have approximately 114 grandchildren. That's an average of each child and their spouses having 6 children each. Some families may have more kids and some will have less. Some families may choose to adopt and some may never marry or marry and not have children. Even though children are a blessing from the Lord, it is not His plan that each of us will bear children or that every single person will marry. Some people are gifted with the spiritual gift of singleness, there are many role models in the bible (Jesus is the absolute best example) who were single. But most specifically look at Jeremiah who was specifically told, by God, to remain single. No matter how many grand children, great-grandchildren, and so on that Jim Bob and Michelle have, the absolute most important thing is that each child is raised with patience, gentleness, kindness, grace, humility, compassion, respect and, above all else, love.

  34. Wow that is a lot of duggars ! Happy mothers day to Michelle , Jill, and jessa .
And all others mom ! 😊

    ReplyDelete
  35. Does anyone know what ben and jessa seewalds website link is?

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is really basic math. I think you need to used calculus.

Are derricks, Anna's or Bens family less blessed having two to eight kids? Abraham was told he would have decendents as numerous as the stars. I don't think anyone else was told that. 20% have fertility issues.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow, that's impressive! The more Duggars the better, I guess. :) This world really needs more strong, Christian families.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow that is A LOT of kids!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I find it so interesting that John-David and Joseph are not dating yet, and Josiah is younger than them and already is in courtship. It means that some of the 19 kids probably won't be having as many kids either. Even Anna, who is already having her 4th child (and this is much more than an average family would) has the babies somehow once in 2 years. Michelle had them on most occasions within 1.5 years, and she also had 2 sets of twins. I think it would be very difficult to overdo Michelle! She is a miracle.
Also the kids have to find spouses who would agree to have as many kids! Jim Bob needs to build more houses.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think some of the Duggar children will have big families, but I am not sure that any of them will have 19 unless through adoption. God knows, and we can wait and see.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Katie,
The buddy groups are pretty easy to figure out just by Jill's buddy group. They have the kids in groups of 4 minus John and Joesph who are not in buddy groups.
    Jana, Josiah, Jason, Johannah
    Jill, Joy, James, Jenny
    Jessa, Jed, Justin, Jordyn
    Jinger, Jer, Jackson, Josie
Do you see the pattern? What I don't get though is that when Jill got married, Joy can take over the buddy group. But how can Jedidiah take care of Justin and Jordyn?

  42. My dad had 6 siblings and my mum had 5.
On my dads side I have 26 cousins (inc. 1 adopted cousin) and 4 step cousins (my uncle re-married so he had 4 kids and 4 step kids).
I also have 42 second cousins (as my cousins started having kids before I was born)
On my mums side I have 13 cousins (one of my uncles never married or had kids)
I also have 11 second cousins on that side.
So in total I have 92 cousins, and my first cousins range from 49 to 16 so there are definitely more cousins in the future!

    ReplyDelete
  43. It would be good.....but unrealistic

    ReplyDelete
  44. I thought it was being left up to God.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I would say I hope they know who all they are related to!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow...that's a lot of duggars:) but maybe not all of them will get married (marriage isn't for everyone!!) and josh already said something about doing the math and figuring out that it isn't possible for him and Anna to have 19 kids. So that probably won't happen ha. But I do hope that the duggar kids who get married will be as open to life as their parents were:)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Obviously you have something against sharing the Word of God on the second coming of Jesus Christ! Obviously there are not this many generations left if the generation that saw the regeneration of the state of Israel is not to pass away before the second coming of Jesus Christ. So how do you figure on this many generations, this is false according to prophetic word of God.

  48. I hope that each kid is valued and not viewed as a number for fame! Life is not competition

  49. I was just thinking that there is no such thing as being lonely in that family, how wonderful that would be, so many many folks are so lonesome in this world and that is so very sad.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I was just thinking how Jim and Michelle can keep a close relationship with all those grandkids, about twice a month they should spend time with one particular family for about a week and then once a month have a big family dinner with everyone. With all that land they should build a big compound and call it Duggarville...lol :-) How truly blessed that whole family is, I am happy for all their achievements and will continue to pray for their successes.

    ReplyDelete
  51. My father was one of eight kids. He had only two children. None of his other siblings had more than 3 children. I've heard him say that no one should have more than two kids.

    ReplyDelete
  52. There is more to life than gaining notoriety by having unusual amounts of children. At least, there should be.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Not all of them will have 19 or even 10. I think jessa and Ben might only have around 7. However, Jill and derick might beat out 19 kids. It depends on the couple

    ReplyDelete
  54. How can anyone presume which if any offspring will end up being "Godly" people?

    ReplyDelete
  55. That would be wonderful if they all stuck to their Christian beliefs ... and got involved in government!!! =)~

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm thinking the Duggar kids will average out to about six apiece. That's over a hundred grandkids though, so nothing to sneeze at! Same for the Bates. I don't think we'll see any true mega families from any of the kids. Maybe a few will reach ten or so, but not too many.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Children are a blessing and as they allow God to bless them, it can go to amazing places! Think of Jonadab, 400 years of children faithfully walking with the Lord. It can be done by God's grace! I'd say folk should pray for them. Don't speculate.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Amen to the comment about not knowing whether or not the offspring will turn out Godly. Certainly a Godly heritage helps immensely, but all we can do is our best to raise our kids with God's help. It's up to the individual to choose whether or not to serve him. There will sadly be some descendants of the Duggars who will probably not live for the Lord.

    ReplyDelete
  59. If you are faithful watchers do you recall the episode where Jim Bobs own father said it was ridiculous-they should have stopped at two? I wonder what Grandmas feelings on the subject are-she responds to marriage being a sacrifice? Any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  60. That would be awesome if it really happens! The world would be a better place. Maybe they should change Arkansas into Duggarsas!!!!!! LOL!!!!!! We don't know if this can ever hapen or if it will. But Lord willing it could!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. There probably will be one or two mega familys!!! Most of them will probably have 5-10 kids. But really we dont know untill the lord alows it!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Family reunions would be HUGE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. @DuggarFan I'm pretty sure you are wright except for Josie i think she is with Jana too.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Well the world will probably be destroyed even before they get to great great grandchildren at the current rate we are going

    ReplyDelete
  65. Jana has Josie and Jinger has Johannah. You also got Jedidiah and Jeremiah mixed up

    ReplyDelete
  66. If they are going to have even close to that number then I hope they encourage more sustainable living. All those new plastic flamingos in the latest Gender Reveal episode...why? I can't imagine the Duggars from 14 Kids and Counting doing something that wasteful, and it is hardly an isolated incident of late.

    ReplyDelete
  67. That's so cool! The Duggars are great people and it would be great to have more of them. Is that totally realistic? Probably not, but still interesting. Even if each kid had six children, there would be over 100 grandchildren. That's definitely possible...Imagine the family reunions!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Okay so some of the people seem offended by the blog entry. I highly doubt Lily and Ellie posted this as something to take seriously. It was just for fun. As for the end of the world, no one knows when that will happen. We should just go about living life as though it could happen, but not that it will for sure happen at any given time... at least in my understanding.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I think:
Josh & Anna will have 8
    Jana will have 5
    John David will have 2
Jill & Derrick will have 14
Jessa & Ben will have 10 (4 adopted)
    Jinger will have 5
    Joseph will have 7
    Josiah will have 6
    Joyanna will have 2
    Jeremiah will have 5
    Jedidiah will have 7
    Jason will have 4
    James will have 5
    Justin will have 5
    Jackson will have 2
    Johannah will have 8
    Jennifer will have 6
    Jordyn will have 7
    Josie will have 2

That's 110 grandkids for my prediction!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Wow i think that's crazy! it will be hard to fit them anywhere and hard to keep track of all the names! but anyway what a blessing!!
