Newlyweds Jessa and Ben Seewald are living in Josh and Anna's old house, which is owned by Grandma Duggar. Before moving in, they did a few renovations and took care of a mold problem. Join Jessa and Ben for a tour in the following video:

  2. Who are "the Christians over in Africa?" There are 6 million of them!

  3. Looks quite a bit different than when Josh & Anna lived there. They must've done some pretty extensive remodeling. I imagine the profits from their TV show allows them such luxuries.

  4. They didn't show nothing but half of the kitchen and a piece of the bedroom .but from the paint color on the wall and the counter and the pantry it looks beautiful

  10. Ben and Jessa are SUPER cute! I love that they're getting to start off in a small home. It will make them appreciate what they have in the years to come. I'm glad they took the time to really get to know each other and didn't rush to the alter, and then again to have children. Life is not a race! I wish them all the blessings in the world.

  15. A house doesn't have to be big to be a place where their is a lot of love and happiness. It is not the house that makes it happy to be there it is the people and how they live their life that makes a happy home. Ben and Jessa it looks like your home is full of love. You two look like you have a lot of love to pass back and forth. Your kids will be lucky to have you as loving parents.

  18. In the People magazine article, Ben says that drinking is not a sin. That is not a Biblical viewpoint, considering the multitude of verses about wine and strong drink.
Do the Duggars agree with Ben?

    1. The bible doesn't actually say that drinking is a sin. It warns us about the effects of to much and how it's not wise to go there. If it is a sin to drink alcohol I highly doubt Jesus would turn gallons of water into wine at a wedding celebration. He would be completely contradicting himself. If you're unsure about it I'd love to give you more specifics! :-)

    2. The Bible does not say drinking is a sin, but rather getting drunk is a sin. Jesus drank wine so it cant be a sin since Jesus doesnt sin

      Delete
    3. In bible times many people drank wine and it is not a sin unless you get drunk. 😊

      Delete
    4. Christ drank wine. The only thing sinful about alcohol is if you get drunk. Everything in moderation. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that drinking is a sin, only drunkeness.

    5. Drunkenness is a sin, not drinking in itself. If drinking was a sin, Jesus would not have turned water into wine for the wedding party.

  19. Their house is very cute and updated. They pick out a lot of natural colors to make things stand out. It's cute for their first home as newlyweds. I remember Josh and Anna was living in that same house after they got married. =)

  24. I LOVE their bedroom suite! It is gorgeous! I looked everywhere for something similar when we were buying our bedroom suite and couldn't find anything as nice as that. The house looks lovely with some fresh paint and the kitchen with a little revamp. Lovely!

  25. You two are adorable. What a great opportunity to shine the light of Jesus to this world. I love the idea of the chalk board and writing encouraging verses to one another! Praying for you and your marriage that God will continue to use it to further His kingdom! Your family has been such a blessing in my life and a light for Jesus!

  36. Glad to finally see something about just Ben and Jessa!! They are so cute together

  38. Jessica, u an Ben could become foster parents to get the feel of what adopting would b like. This is what I did. At age 60 I as a single parent was able to adopt a 6 day old infant son who is now 17. It was a wonderful decision. Praying for ea of u.

  39. You two are adorable! The house looks great! You will go far! I love to watch the Duggars but to watch all the kids grow and find love is a real insperation to all! I think all young people should watch! I think if more young people would court versus dating there would be less single parents out there and less divorce and more true love under god!

  40. Ben def has a talent for drawing...what a thoughtful gift from Jessa. Nice.

I do not drink. However, the bible instructs to refrain from drunkeness, not drinking. In fact, in 1 Timothy 5:23, Paul even suggests wine for ailments. While I don't like the idea of putting a toxin into the body, drinking is not a sin. I imagine, the Duggars, as conservative as they are, are more in line with your beliefs.

  44. It doesn't take a big house to make a happy, loving marriage. I live in a three bedroom apartment with five people and we are happy campers here ,and I know Jessa you and Ben will be OK

    ReplyDelete
  45. Drinking is not a sin, getting drunk is a sin.

  46. They are so cute together god bless them and their home

  47. @Courtney Phillips
The Bible clearly says to never be drunk. It is also clear not to engage in sexual behaviour outside of marriage. While having a single drink of alcohol, or kissing before marriage are not forbidden, choosing to refrain from those actions are wise decisions and are beneficial to your life.

  48. No one said she cannot work. Some women choose not to. There is nothing wrong with that. Women get criticized for working and criticized for not working. We cannot win. The Bible says to not be drunk. I do not think that it says all drinking is wrong. Some people should avoid it, though.

  49. Thanks, agree it is wonderful to 'keep up with this family'.

  50. I have been watching your show since 14 Kids and Counting.Jessa Blessa I have watched you grow up and turn into a beautiful woman who truly loves the Lord. and as for Ben I think he's a keeper.I love your family with all my heart and if I'm lucky I'll get to meet them one day before I die.

  51. Jessa and Ben a house is a house no matter how big or small. It the love and memories that are made and grow in it that matter most.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @Courtney Phillips
The Bible says to not get drunk. But it doesn't say to not drink. There is a difference.

I do not know where the Duggar's stand. If a person has a conviction to not drink, period, I applaud that conviction and encourage them to stand by it. However, I don't know how one can preach that their view is the ONLY view in the Bible, being as how Paul tells Timothy in 1 Timothy 5:23 to drink a little wine (note, little, not get drunk). And Jesus turned water into wine. Why would he do that if drinking anything, period, was immoral and a violation of God's command?

Again, if one has a personal conviction to not drink, then blessings to them. But let's remember that it's a personal conviction, not a Biblical command. Until we begin speaking of drunkenness, in which it is a command to not become drunk.

    ReplyDelete
  53. @Courtney Phillips The Bible says that getting drunk is a sin. Paul told Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach.

  54. Jessa was wearing a nice skirt.

  55. That house reminds me of Erin Bates/Pained little cozy cottage...snug as a bug in a rug :-) Much easier to clean than a big house. It's a great first home to start.I really hope they got all the mold removed as Ben has severe allergies.

  56. @Courtney PhillipsDrinking is not a sin. No where in the Bible will you see that it says that drinking is a sin. Becoming intoxicated is a sin. Drinking til drunk. Drinking in moderation is not a sin. Should Christians stay away from it...in my opinion absolutely! Drinking in moderation can sometimes lead to intoxication. There are many, many reasons to avoid it. One might become addicted. It's all about self-control and all about the heart. I'm a Christian and in our family we don't drink. Drinking alcohol repulses me; however it is not a sin. If you look up all the scriptures about drinking alcohol you'll see the sin begins when one is out of control or drinking to become drunk.

  58. There are lots of ways to adopt...maybe someone from their big Baptist church has a teenager who gets pregnant and is not ready ,so they choose adoption...So they let Ben and Jessa adopt privately...that very well could happen. If that were to happen to me and my daughter, I would let ANY Duggar adopt my granddaughter in a heartbeat...Just sayin.

    1. If Ben and Jessa can have their own kids (which I would assume they can) then they would probably not want to take a healthy domestic baby as there are MANY couples who can not have children wanting a new born baby. If you can have your own childeren and want to adopt international or foster care are great options! Check Bethany christian services if your daughter did get pregnant before she was ready there are many infertile couples waiting! God bless!

  59. The house is only bricks or sticks that provide shelter, you make the very presence of the atmosphere and allow it to be a home. You both are so cute, but that's the easy part. Keep praying, learning and growing together, in times of hardship that will be your foundation through God! Love all of you guys!!!

  60. I think a Christian should be careful with alcohol out of love for other people. The Bible tells us that the law is based on two things, love for God and love for people. If my glass of whine would bring a former alcoholic back in bondage, I would not obey the law of love in the Bible. Even though the Bible don't forbid drinking alcohol, the Bible is clear that we should not let our freedom bring our "weak" brothers and sisters to fall.

  63. Proverbs says not to look on the wine when it is red. In the end it will bite you like a serpent. Doesn't sound like something to take a drink of.

  64. Ben is a favorite of so many. I could see him selling copies of his artwork to fans around the world and making a very nice living for his family. As always, I wish him the very best! It is so sweet and precious the way he kisses her forehead. I feel certain ee will start seeing that now from the other marrieds.

  66. Why are there so many comments about alcohol?

    ReplyDelete
  67. @AnonymousTotally agree with you comment. I commented above and said a Christian should not drink. However while it is best not to do it, it is not a sin if one does do it.

    Hi Anna,

Here are the words on the Seewalds' "Flip to My Flop" sign:

    You are the...
    Peanut to my butter
    Water to my ocean
    Glaze on my donut
    Spring in my step
    Twinkle in my eye
    Blue in my sky
    Cherry to my sundae
    Sweet in my dreams
    Flip to my flop
    Beat of my heart
    Cheese to my macaroni
    Best to my friend
    Love of my life

    Blessings,
    Lily and Ellie
