Dillard & Seewald Update

The Seewalds and Dillards are featured in this week's edition of PEOPLE, available wherever magazines are sold. Here are a few highlights from the article:

Jessa and Ben Seewald
1. Jessa and Ben honeymooned in Paris, Rome, and Venice.

2. They are now renting the house that Josh and Anna lived in before moving to Washington D.C. Who is their landlord? Grandma Mary Duggar! The house is minutes away from Jim Bob and Michelle and about 30 minutes from Jill and Derick.

3. Ben completed an associates degree and is considering attending seminary in hopes of becoming a pastor someday. He currently works for Jim Bob.

4. Jessa is not pregnant (yet).

5. The Seewalds researched adoption but discovered that most agencies require a couple to be married for two years before adopting. Still, they hope to adopt "a lot of kids," as Jessa puts it.

6. Jessa and Ben are considering purchasing a TV to watch football and "a cooking show every now and then," but for now, they watch television shows, such as The Andy Griffith Show, online.

Jill and Derick Dillard
1. The Dillards' son, whom they have affectionately nicknamed Baby Dilly, is due March 24th, which is less than five weeks away.

2. Jana Duggar and a team of midwives will deliver Baby Dilly at the Dillards' home.

3. Jill says she feels fabulous and that their son is very active.

4. The Dillards are prepared with a birthing tub, a bassinet, a crib, and gifts received from family, friends, and fans.

5. Derick has never changed a diaper, while Jill has changed hundreds (perhaps thousands).

6. Dan Dillard, Derick's brother, is already planning to take his nephew camping (but not right away).

  1. I really, really hope Jessa and Ben wait a little while before having kids. They (he) are so so young and they have their whole lives ahead of them.

    1. There is nothing that makes your life LESS by having kids young. You can still do anything. I am living the exact life I wanted as a teenager, and I have the opportunity to share it with my kids.

    2. My mom was 19 when she had me & I LOVED growing up with a young mom! She was so energetic & creative!
Please don't tell other people not to have children or when to have them -- only God knows the perfect timing for a child to be born - and people who had a great childhood & who love children generally want to have children soon! :-)

    3. I had my first child at the age of 18. I'd just graduated from high school and was taking a couple college classes when my daughter was born. I was married several months later. I had my second (live birth) at the age of 23. I would have had more, but both my daughter and my son were preemie's. My Ob-Gyn told me that each pregnancy would be approximately 3 weeks shorter than the last, due to an incompetent cervix. At that point we had one child of each gender..and they were healthy, despite being born early (35 weeks w/my first-and 33 w/my second)..so I had my tubes tied. I guess my point is that it is possible to have kids young without feeling like you've "missed out." What's wrong with wanting to be a mother? Why is that such a sad way to live? I don't get it..at all.

  8. I would like to ask Michelle how that is a honeymoon on a budget? She should take that off
the tlc websight. What has happened to the Duggars?

  9. Fellow fans, to make a long story short, the latest posts for the most recent Duggar show on You Tube that all end up giving a link to a website where the show can be viewed, are, really just false leads, I found out by committing to this and giving out my credit card number and signing up that the content they promise is not on the website at all. I phoned the customer service number thinking that seeing it maybe would take me paying more money than the free trial level but it turned out they did not have the content at all due to copy rights that made them take down all their television shows (yeah right). Also they denied that the You Tube posts with links were put up by them, they do not know how those get put up (yeah right). But I did get asked if I wanted to cancel my 'free trial' and no charges would be made to my credit card number, so I said yes and wrote down the reference number they gave me. If you saw in an earlier comment in these blog comments just recently that the most recent episode was already available to see on You Tube I suspect that was a false lead that was a part of all this...because there are many posts to You Tube videos of this episode but those all lead to a link which lead to a web page that asks to sign up for a free trial on the website, but when a person does that , there is no show in there to see. So right now, though I may not have found the right You Tube video, I do not think the show is available on You Tube, those are all just 'links'. Don't try to go this route to see the show.

  11. I'm so glad Ben and Jessa are living there own life's. I know Ben works for Mr Dugger but it done not mean he runs there life. Best wishes to Ben and Jeesa. There's not much to say about the Dillards.

  12. Ben obtained his associate's degree in what field? Nursing? English?

Where did Ben obtain his associate's degree? The University of Arkansas? Arkansas Tech University? An online university?

    ReplyDelete
  13. They forgot to mention that not only do they have to be married 2 years to be considered to adopt, Ben also has to wait 2 years until he turns 21. Please mention that omission.

  14. I think that Jessa is secretly using birth control if she is not pregnant yet. She seems to get married to enjoy life to the fullest (Paris, Rome, buying TV). I don't think she would want a baby right away. She sounded so rational preparing for her wedding, I seriously doubt her dream is to be barefoot and pregnant.

  20. So happy for both couples!! God Bless y'all!

  21. Adopting from another country they would both need to be in their 30's. They would also need to swear their daughters and son would go to college. They prize education and that is part of why they will allow the children of that country to come here. Fostering they would need to be several years older than children placed into their home. Most kids free for adoption in foster care are much older. There is a real wait for couples who seek to parent. Infertile couples have it difficult. We are lucky to not live in a world where adults of parenting age are not dying young leaving children behind.

  30. Just want to congratulate both sets of newlyweds. No mater what opinions of others bottom line is you are good people. I know if everyone would take a minute before saying anything think because there is someone judging you your family and your beliefs if they are negative things how would you like it?We are just people no one is perfect no one knows everything and we can only do our best. The Duggars are good people you don't have to live with them or live their way so like i was taught "If you have nothing nice to say say nothing at all".God Bless You All

  33. Why do they always seem to do homebirths? Don't they trust doctors?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Homebirths are less expensive and a person's home is quite cleaner than a hospital..well that is for those people that clean their homes. I wish I could've had mine at home..I dont like hospitals

      Delete
  34. Do you ladies know if either of the couple's honeymoons' will be featured on the show?

    ReplyDelete
  35. i hope and pray they do not show this home birth on tv. and jill is not in labor as long as anna was and in so much pain. this women should be in a hospital. I pray nothing goes wrong and she has some good sense not to have it blasted all over the tv stations.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I think as many births should be shown on tv as possible. It's not often anyone actually gets to witness the miracle of birth these days.
As to your comment whether women should be in a hospital to give birth - it makes me question how you think the human race sustained itself over the many thousands of years all over the world where no hospitals existed.
... things that make you go hmmm ...
PS if you don't want to watch then change the station.

  40. Depends on the agency and the country- I'm sure they will figure it all out as The Lord leads them:)

  41. @Anonymous
To anon 25- The Duggars are purposefully placing themselves in the public eye. Just as with all celebrities, they are subjecting themselves to criticism and can stop the publicity at any time if they choose.
I think many people are disappointed at what appears to be compromising of their values by using a magazine like People to promote the family.

  42. @kms
To anon 16- My husband and I are the proud parents of two teenagers, both adopted from South Korea. While there were health, salary and age requirements for adoptive parents, at no time did we have to promise to send them to college. (Although we are!)

  43. Thanks for upholding to your belief in Jesus Christ, it's not easy in this world filled with sooo many paths to destruction but your family remind me every time that it is possible.May God continue to bless u and your family

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't think it is appropriate to film births for a general audience. I personally hope the Duggar children will keep the birthing process just for their immediated families. Birth is such a special, private once in a life time moment for each child. To put it out there for the public appears to be for monitary purposes and tv ratings. Just show us the new baby in a blue or pink blanket and parents bonding and rejoicing in a new life.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Do you know if the Duggars will be returning to Ohio anytime soon? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  46. No International adoption program is going to allow a 19 year old and his bride of 4 months to get in line to adopt a child. Because the sending countries would never allow it. Let's stop pushing them. Don't we expect more from them than to have an unusual number of kids by any means necessary? They will likely not use contraception. Usually that means 6 kids or more, not all pregnancies end in a safe delivery. Some have less due to fertility issues from the begining or after x number of kids.

  51. I adopted my now 8 year old from China. We promised college and were asked about it while we were there. And they wanted to know our information as well regarding education in the home study. Korean adoptions are winding down. In most cases special needs. There is now a limit on how many children can leave the country. So only a few agencies are left. Obviously a 21 year old barely married with wife pregnant or just delivered isn't going to be the family the agency is going to prioritize. Pregnancy stops the adoption process, which may continue when the child is older so that a new baby/toddler who lost her family isn't artificially becoming a twin. These placements require more care. Infant domestic adoption they really limit you to two kids. If you are lucky enough to find two birthfamilies to place with you. I'm not certain that instant obedience is going to fly with a child suddenly in a different country who is hearing a different language with complete strangers who have no reason to trust anyone since they have lost their parents, their care givers, their country just so the parents can feel they did something charitable. Poor things. Let's see how many they have and how close together they are. Programs have been becoming more strict. There is even a weight requirment for South Korea. There is a 30 BMI for Korea and 40 BMI for China. They are getting picky because they can.
