What do you think of the Duggars' sign?

  1. It kinda looks like they are not using Switched on Schoolhouse like they have in the past. Maybe that's why their friends are helping?

  3. They only have 3 hours of school time each day?!

  4. I think that those 3 hours per day are specifically for individual study and tutoring.

For many homeschool children, 3 hours is all it takes. My family gets it done in that period of time on most days.

  6. It looks as if Jessa signed the "School Administrator" line.

  7. I'm a substitute teacher at a public school in Nevada. 3 hours of quiet school time is the norm. Our public school days are 3 hours for breakfast/lunch, the special of the day (art, library, P.E., music), recess, and independent reading/free time, not to mention all the bathroom breaks. Instruction and actual core subject work only adds up to 3 to 4 hours a day and that is for a class of 30. I'm assuming one on one teaching with 10 kids with a few in the same lesson plans would be easier to complete faster. I'm sure the kids read alot and play outside when they don't watch T.V.

  8. I have way more school than them.

  9. Three hours is more than enough time to get school done when you homeschool

  10. I thought the homeschooling was done upstairs in that computer room & sometimes at the dining room table. It is sad that they designed their own floorplan and did not have a dedicated homeschool room since they knew they would need one for at least 18 more years. Glad to see they had some teachers brought in. I can't imagine teaching such a wide age range of kids and having all the tv and media related stuff Michelle has to do every week.

  11. Three hours might be their gathered school time, but it doesn't mean they don't do school outside of that time. At our house, we all gather for school for a certain period of time, and then we have separate studies we are required to get down throughout the week. We have to find the time to fit it in.

  12. What happend to work at the dinner table? Also having toys in that room must be distracting for the little ones.

  14. Who has received their GED's?

  15. Then if 3 hours is all it takes, why are public school students required to go to school for 6 hours?

  16. While three hours of schooling would probably work with a couple of kids, I don't know how they get a quality education with the amount of kids they have in different age groups. I guess this is where the older daughters step in again to teach their siblings in addition to caring for their buddies.
I don't get why they didn't think to make a room specifically for home schooling when they build the house, although they used to hold school at the dining room table.

  21. I believe that the 'toys and junk' closet is where the guns are kept, based on the episode where Michelle shoots balloons to uncover her surprise. Good that it was locked, and for Justin not to tell the world about it.

  22. Duggar parents and teacher siblings need to go back to school along with their children! Unbelievable, Superintendent was spelled wrong, they had "ant." All these commentators were concerned about who the "Administrator" was that signed! I previously admired the family back in 2004 for their wholesome family values, now look at them! RVs, trips, posh toys, large properties, and "tutors" to reinforce superiority...while still lacking basic education, socialization, and understanding of diversity! Lots to learn Duggars.

  23. @Anonymoussame here! 3 hours is enough!

  24. Who signed the Principal line? Anonymous 19--- yeah right! I don't believe it! How did you get to their playroom?

  25. HAHA! IF YOU READ IN THE FRONT CORNER OF THE SIGN IT SAYS "No Scaring Your Teacher!" I would have liked to see the incident that caused her to write that!
