  3. I'd just like to add I find it encouraging that the Duggars can be such an example to a world, that more and more, seem to find 'child-bearing' a burden. I find them so inspirational and have learned so much from observing their lives as they've shared them with us (via tV and through books, blogs, etc.)

  7. A baby is never a mistake! I cant believe that these people think a baby could be a mistake, you know everyone was once a baby, you would not be here if your mother never had you. What is America coming to???

  8. ...When I was 15, I never said "I hate you" to anyone...in fact, I've never said those words to anyone at anytime. And I don't know any other teens who said that either...

  9. This segment goes on to show how the world is falling away from the divine counsel of our loving Heavenly Father to multiply and replenish the earth. I am a mother, and yes it is hard work sometimes, but the joy that comes from having my sweet child far out weighs the hard work! I am sad that women are loosing the idenity of mohterhood, and wanting to be created equal in so many aspects to men, women will never be equal to men just as men will never be equal to women. We were created by our Father in Heaven, equally, but different roles we are to perform here on Earth. I am glad the Duggars show the joys and challenges of parenthood.

  10. $1 MIL per child-- how utterly ridiculous! And every 15 yo tells their parents they hate them? I don't think so. My teens are a great blessing, they are no longer just my children, they are my friends.

  12. I'm glad I had my 3 children because it gave me the oportunity to love 3 other people much more than I love anything else or anyone in this world. They have been great teachers to me. I'm glad my parents adopted my siblings so that I could have others to grow up with, appreciate and love.

  13. "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." Ps. 127:3
We, like the precious Duggar family, take that at face value. :)

  15. Interesting comments...Jim Bob and Michelle always said that it was a "myth" that there are too many children in the world. This reporter confirms this. Not for everyone thats true and thats okay. God Bless those who decide this as it was Gods will anyways as everything is led through him. Bless us couples that have decided to have children. It is not easy road, lots of work and discipline however, I could not imagine my life without them. Well worth the efforts. If they could always remember: Psalm 23:25 Let you father and mother be proud of you; give your mother that happiness.

  18. Wow! What a sad statement about our country. God bless the Duggars and ALL of their children for the selfless example of love they are to us all.

  19. I really think that the way this society portrays parenting is one thing that deters people from having kids. Its ideas that if you aren't a great mom, can't supervise enough, don't say exactly the right things to your kid, don't provide the right activities, you will ruin the child. The high expectations scare some people off from even trying to be parents. Its also an issue of economics and the way families are currently structured that makes it easier for some families if they limit children. They don't have the resource of extended family that is able to help, both parents need to earn income, so then they have to pay for daycare, etc. I am not saying its right or wrong, it just is what is. I do question the notion that by using birth control, etc you are automatically not letting God determine your family size. Some families have a calling to bear a lot of kids, others have the calling to adopt, others to have one or two, etc. I think its more about God's place in a person's life than taking or not taking a birth control.

  20. Roe vs. Wade is the problem. 30 years of infanticide.

  21. To all those who think the Duggars are despicable for "overpopulating the planet," I would like to show them these statistics and say "In your face!" Families like them don't even come close to making up for the shortage of children of the current generation.
However, I think this video is misrepresenting the problem. There are some people who are choosing not to get married at all (much less have children) because they believe God has a different plan for their lives. But this report doesn't mention that as a possible reason. Additionally, some people are not able to have children (infertility is a growing problem among young people for a variety of health reasons). They make it look like it's only couples who deliberately choose to prevent pregnancy who are contributing to the "underpopulation." Just another example of bad journalism.

  22. The bible says the ways of God will seem foolish to the world. Proof of that, right there.

Children are a blessing, all the time, every time. When we feel that they are a burden, WE are the ones with the problem, a selfish wrong attitude. :(

The Duggars are a wonderful example of unselfishness and trust in the Lord to have total control over EVERY aspect of their lives.

    May God bless them

  24. I know two couples (well, one is divorced now) who do not want children, but love kids to pieces and are wonderful aunts/uncles. They're great people and I don't judge them. They've both said, if it happened, they'd never abort and would obviously have the child, which is good. I can't believe we're actually at this point though. I welcome any children the Lord gives me. So far, I have three and I don't see any more coming my way, but I'm grateful for those three.

  25. Astounding and deeply saddening. Children aren't THE answer for these lost people, Jesus is. However, the "reasons" for not having children that are supported in this segment are so misguided it breaks my heart. People seem so defeated. They look at a culture of broken people and violence and it makes sense to them not to continue to breed self-destructive generations. However, they presume the answer is to simply not reproduce at all instead of raising up a better generation.
