Joy and a friend dipping chocolate-covered strawberries |
"Debbie and her family reach out to women that don’t have a Valentine, and host a special Valentine’s banquet just for them," writes Michelle Duggar in her latest TLC Parentables post.
The Querys prepare the food-tea sandwiches, green salad and fruit salad. At the banquet, the children act as hosts and servers and perform violin and harp.
"The boys are true gentlemen," writes Michelle. "They escort the ladies to their seats and then give them each a little gift"
When Debbie Query started the tradition several years ago, she held the banquet at her house. Now, with nearly 100 guests, the event has been moved to a more suitable location.
"Our children have really enjoyed being a part of this unique Valentine’s Day event," writes Michelle. "These special ladies are cared for, even though they may not have their own Valentine with them. They are loved, God loves them and we do, too."
Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentines Day is February 14th! Tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteDebbie is a friend of mine. She has a wonderful servant's heart. Duggars really should not get the pat on the back for this. Debbie Query is an amazing woman. She helped me in a time when I was widowed, and she uses her pain to help others often. Duggars just did their part to help, as did many other members of the same church.
ReplyDeleteWOW! They are so sweet, and she is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of Joy!
ReplyDeleteDebbie must be a very strong, generous and selfless woman to create such a beautiful Valentine's Day event for other women. I'm sure she appreciates everyone's help. Love to see this copied by other church's!
ReplyDeleteDebbie has done a very kind thing in acknowledging those ladies who might be feeling lonely on this day for "sweethearts." The Duggars continue to live their faith by example. God Bless them all.
ReplyDeleteTo proverbs mama.....Michelle did give all the credit to Debbie. She was simply saying they helped and enjoyed being able to serve others on Valentines
ReplyDeleteJoy is actually helping a friend of Anna's make chocolate covered strawberries for her home bakery she owns. You can check out her bakery page at www.facebook.com/dojosdesigns I'm assuming the strawberries are not for the banquet.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how Christian ppl care who gets the credit for this......who cares....as long as we are serving others.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines day

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing to do for the single women of your community on such a traditional lovers day. There are many women that have loved ones that are not by their side any longer but are in their hearts. Kudos to Debbie and the Duggers many hands make easier work. You are my Valentine.
ReplyDeleteAs a widow myself, I am thankful there are people like Debbie Query who does this. I only wish I had been able to be there too.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet and cool! And I love that the Duggar boys escorted the ladies to their seats: I'm visualizing James helping an old woman to her seat. Haha So cute.
ReplyDeleteValentine day is not such a big deal here in Hungary, but I love the idea. You could easily do it on Mother's day:-)
