After spending the weekend in Scotland, the Duggars are headed to Ireland, the land of the Ruark (Michelle's maiden name) ancestors!

Do you have any Irish blood?

  3. My paternal grandmother was born in Belfast but she also had Scottish roots, her 3rd great aunt was Margaret Wilson who was tied to a stake and drowned in the Solway as a martyr for her faith. I would love to visit both Ireland and Scotland!

  8. I also have Irish in me! My last name is Shannon...I'm part Irish, Scottish, Indian and French! The Irish and Scottish comes from my father's side and the Indian and French comes from my mother's side. By the way, I'm probably your biggest fan, I have two young children and you are all my inspiration! I look up to you for guidance and reassurance, believe me! I admire your family values and I watch your show every week:)

I send you all lots of love,

    Sarah

  18. I have Irish Blood on both sides of my family my father has a brother who is red headed they joke around and say that he came from the good looking side of the family my mother's ancestors who were rich landowners in Ireland but they must have squandered it all because were getting by at times like everyone else.

  20. Red hair is not actually an Irish thing... It's a Norwegian thing. When the Normans came through and conquered the Irish and basically raped and pillaged the whole land there ended up being a whole generation of red heads... That's where the red hair comes from. History degree over here... Always drives me crazy when people talk about the red hair & Ireland since that's not where it came from... it's a big nasty historical thing.

  26. Yes, my great grandma came over here as a widow with 12 kids. Her husband had come here to find work and died in a railroad accident. I hope the Duggars have the time to fall in love with beautiful Ireland.

  27. Not sure where the Duggars hail from, but as far as we know, they have been in the United States for around three hundred years.

  28. Red hair is a trait of the Irish and so is blonde, but what amazes me, is that our friends did research and found out that black curly hair is Irish too!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. The black hair is mainly in the West of Ireland due to the spanish armada and the invasion of spanish in our country, my husband has jet black hair and is from Mayo and his brother and sister are the same and he has another brother and sister who have red hair too. I agree about the red hair not been totally Irish but it is very possible, in order to have red hair, both of your parents genes would have to have red hair in it and not going back too many generations, hence that is why a lot of Irish have it.

  30. My friend's family is Irish, they have had red hair in their family for hundreds of years! They are from Ireland, and they have a mixture of hair colors, two have blonde, three have red and the other has dark brown! The parents both have red!
