Duggars' Close Call with Tornadoes

While tornadoes raged in the South early last week, the Duggars were on their way to an ATI homeschool conference in Big Sandy, Texas. At one point during the conference, all two thousand families were told to seek shelter in an inner room, where they joined together in a chorus of "Amazing Grace." While they sang, a tornado touched down only five miles from the camp. Now that's a close call! Thankfully, everyone was safe, and the Duggars, the Bates, and all the other homeschool families were able to enjoy the rest of the conference.

Do you live in an area where tornadoes are common?

  2. we live in North Texas we never know if one will touch down but, during those storms we did have severe thunderstorms with quarter sized hail. It was so bad that our volleyball field turned into a pond.

  3. Our family is in Olathe Kansas, just East of Lawrence, KS where we were honored to meet your lovely family in February.

We get a LOT of storms and hear the tornado sirens quite often, but thank the Lord we have never had one in our immediate area. Most all of the homes in our area have basements, so we have a safe place to go, just in case.

I am so glad your family and all of the other families at the conference were safe!

    Blessings,
    Maureen

  7. Yes, a tornado touched down 30 miles up the road. We also get hurricanes so it can be doubly scary sometimes.

  10. Yes, In my town alone there were 9 deaths from the April 27th tornados. The people of Alabama need lots of prayers!!! I have family who lost literally everything but the clothes on their backs but luckily, still have their lives!
