"Josie Duggar's First Shoes" Recap

Goal: Knit or Crochet booties for baby Josie.

Anna and Cousin Amy, each having had no previous experience with knitting or crocheting, went to Hobby Lobby to buy yarn. Thankfully, they were able to find some ladies at the store and finally decided that crocheting would be the best way to go. Back at Josh and Anna's house, the project did not go well.

After hours of practice, they were still stuck, so they asked Grandma Duggar for some help. Grandma Duggar was super patient and brought a wealth of knowledge, but the girls still couldn't seem to get it. They marked this project as a "Fail" and plan to buy some baby booties.

Back in Little Rock........
This episode took place just a few weeks ago, when Josie weighted 3 pounds 8.5 ounces. She had grown a whopping 1.5 ounces in just one day! And another milestone in the preemie's life.....bottle feeding!

Until now, the focus has been on survival, and the nurses say that bottle feeding is the first step to going home. It was a learning process for Michelle, who has never, in all her years of nursing, fed a baby as tiny as Josie. Practice makes progress, and mom and daughter will both have to work at it.

Are you a creative, craft-lover, or can you relate to Anna and Amy?

  1. I am somewhat creative, but I sure agree with Anna and Amy....crocheting is difficult!

  2. I'm in the process of learning to crochet right now and it's definitely a little tricky and gets frustrating pretty quickly, but I think as long as I stick to it I'll get it figured out! My goal is to have a blanket made for baby #4 which is due in October. We'll see!!

  4. I LOVE knitting... Is there any way we can send some cute knit booties to that sweet Josie? From one 25 week mommy to another - I'd like to do something :)
(my former 25 weeker is now a happy, healthy 9 year old girl!)

  6. This episode was the most frustrating to watch. I can't believe the girls just hit Hobby Lobby for crochet materials, having no idea what they were doing or what they needed. Good grief! lol

  7. Man, I wish I would have found out how you could send Jim Bob and Michelle things sooner! I am a pretty experienced crocheter, and I would have loved to send them some!

  8. I used to crochet but the lady who started my crochet has passed away and now, I have no one to show me how. Debbie, the lady who taught me, did tech me how to crochet, but she wud start it for me and so I don't know how to begin. As for knitting , no way. I did try to learn how to knit so I could knit a blanket for my first grandson, but failed at it. So, I can definitely relate to Anna and Amy.
